Crocheted snake: master class

Snake toys will be useful for crocheting:

basic symbols of crochet knitting
  • acrylic threads for knitting of any color;
  • a pair of snow-white and reddish threads for the eyes of the snake;
  • stuffing;
  • wire;
  • two dark beads (for the pupils);
  • hook. How smaller hook, the smaller the snake will be. In the master class, hook No. 1.5 is used.
Progress:

To tie a snake's head:

  1. Recruiting 4 air loops and close into a ring.
  2. The loops are tied with single crochets. There are 7 columns in total.
  3. In the 2nd row, two stitches are knitted from each loop, ultimately you should get 14 stitches.
  4. In the 3rd row, the crocheting pattern for a snake looks like this: 1 stitch, 2 stitches (2 times), 1 tbsp. 2 tbsp. (3 times), 1 tbsp. 2 tbsp. (3 times), 1 tbsp. 2 tbsp. (2 times). In the end, you should end up with 24 columns. This pattern is needed to form a rounded head shape.
  5. Seven rows are knitted straight; in the 8th row, every 2 stitches, 2 loops are knitted together. The total number of loops is reduced to 18.
  6. In the ninth row, the number of loops is reduced by another 4.
  7. Two rows are knitted straight.
  8. The result should be a rounded head with the last two straight rows.

The head must be stuffed tightly.

The eyes are also tied. For this:

  1. A chain of 4 air loops is brought into a ring and knitted with 7 single crochets.
  2. The number of columns in the next row increases according to the scheme: 2 tbsp. 1 tbsp. 2 tbsp. 1 tbsp. There are 11 columns in total.
  3. Two rows are knitted straight, then the thread is changed to white and two more rows are knitted straight.
  4. The eyes are tightly stuffed with cotton wool, then the knitting goes over the “filled” eyes.
  5. The reduction is carried out as follows: 2 loops of each row are knitted with one until only 3 loops remain.
  6. It turned out to be very cute eyes, but it’s too early to sew them to the head. First you need to stuff the body of the snake, not very tightly, and insert a wire that will give the snake the desired shape.

Then we sew the head filled with cotton to the body.

Today we will succumb to the general snake craze, and at the same time we will practice knitting the pattern that we looked at yesterday... The Internet is now absolutely teeming with various “reptiles” on the eve of the New Year 2013, which, as we know, will be the year of the SNAKE. And we won’t lag behind)))... Let’s knit a snake))) on the knitting needles... Pressed pattern... At the same time, let’s look at the properties of this pattern)))

snake with knitting needles - how to knit

So, we will need:

  1. Remaining yarn of two colors (according to your wishes), I have green and yellow...
  2. Knitting needles - 2 pieces (I have number 3)
  3. Sintepon or any other filler
  4. Eyes (you can do without them)
  5. Needle

Let's get started!

  • We put 70 loops on the knitting needles in any way and knit one row with purl loops. (purl row) Green thread.
  • Next we will knit with a pressed pattern, but not the whole snake, but only its body or tail, I don’t know what grows there after its head)))

To form the head, remember that the first 15 loops will not be included in the pressed pattern. And they will always be the main color - mine is green, we will change the thread after the head loops.

We knit them Always in front rows with loops, in purl rows - .

1 row (green) — we knit 15 knit stitches, then we start the pressed pattern, i.e. we remove the 16th loop as a knit stitch (thread at work). We knit the 17th stitch, etc. Who has forgotten how to do this, read the article

Row 2 (green) -We knit the purl row “according to the pattern”, don’t forget about the head))) 15 last stitches- purl. 3rd row - 15 head loops - knit (green). 55 stitches in a pressed pattern, but at the end of the row add 1 stitch (to form the tip of the ponytail) - yellow.

4 row -56 loops with a pressed pattern (the added loop is always purl so that there is no hole))), yellow, 15 loops (green) -purl loops
Already after you knit two rows (rows 3 and 4) with a contrasting thread, you will see that the head forms by itself without any additions. This is because the density of the pressed pattern is much greater than that of the stockinette stitch...")))...
When replacing colors on the wrong side, twist the threads together (also to avoid holes)))
5th and 6th rows- green according to the same pattern as rows 3 and 4

7th and 8th rows- head is green, tail is yellow

etc. until 13 rows.(a total of 5 loops added)

V 13th row we don't make increases...but with 14 we begin to decrease the tail... 1 loop at the beginning of each purl row, but otherwise everything is the same))) we knit like this 22 row inclusive... (a total of 5 loops were reduced)

23 row- green, all facial

24 row- green purl all

25 row

This is how the detail turned out)))
Now you need to carefully sew it together using a needle or hook (as you like). Try to ensure that the stripes match... Sew the entire side seam, leaving the “end part unsewn, do not break the thread (we will need it)
Turn the part inside out, stuff it with padding polyester, tighten the edges of the hole...using the same thread that was left behind). You can, of course, put a wire inside, but this is at your discretion))) I don’t really like this, because soft toy should be SOFT, but, as you know, “there are no comrades for taste and color”)))
You will get a carcass like this)))... That's it!... Now we are busy with the design and decoration)))
We mark the place where we will sew the eyes. Using a needle and thread, we create relief for the eyebrows. We sew on the eyes or embroider...or crochet and sew...

We hide all the extra threads))) The result is a knitted snake.

Now let’s imagine how we can decorate this snake...
You can put a hat on your head... You can put a scarf on your neck... Or you can sew 2-3 pom-poms on the tail and you will get a rattlesnake)))

FANTASY, GENTLEMEN, FANTASY)))…

We get a beautiful, cute and mischievous little snake crocheted.

To make such a snake we will need: threads of the main color and white for the eyes, also red threads (if you want to knit a New Year's cap). Wire approximately 30-40 cm, padding polyester or halofiber for stuffing. And anything else for decoration.

Designation

sc- single crochet
etc- increase (two loops are knitted into one)
dec- decrease (two loops are knitted together)

We start knitting from the top of the head.

1st row - 6 sc in amigurumi ring (6)

2nd row - increase in each loop (12)
3rd row - * 1sc + inc * 6 times (18)
4th row - * 2sbn + inc * 6 times (24)
5 - 9 row - 24 sc (24)

10 row - knit 12 sc, skip 12 loops and connect with the beginning of knitting

How to join knitting

We knit 12 loops:

Then we simply skip 12 loops and insert the hook into the first stitch from the marker.

And we knit a regular loop without a crochet.

We continue knitting as usual:

11 row - 12 sc (12)
Row 12 - * 1 sc + inc * 6 times (18)
Row 13 - * 2 sc + inc * 6 times (24)
14 - 17 row - 24 sc (24)
Row 18 - * 2 sc + dec * 6 times (18)
19 row - 18 sc (18)
Row 20 - * 1 sc + dec * 6 times (12)
21 row - 12 sc (12)
Row 22 - 6 decreases

Cut the thread, leaving a long end! We will need it to tighten the muzzle.

This is how it should be

We attach the thread to the remaining open loops and continue to knit 3 rows of 12 sc, then insert the wire (wire length is approximately 30-40 cm)

In red I drew how the wire is inserted into the head and how to bend the edge so that the wire does not go through the loops.

Let's start decreasing:

1 dec + 10 sc (11)

1 dec + 9sc (10)
We knit 5-7 rows without decreases
1 dec + 8 sc (9)

1 dec + 7 sc (8)
We knit 7-10 rows without decreases
1 dec + 6 sc (7)
We knit 10-12 rows without decreases
1 dec + 5sc (6)
We knit 10 rows without decreases and close!!!

The snake is tied, all that remains is to design the head. Here there are no clear conditions for the rows, since everyone has their own threads and their own length of wire. Be guided by your length.

This is how I fill the little body. To make it even, I simply wrap the wire with padding polyester and then tie it. Here you need to carefully grab the loops so as not to snag the padding polyester!

Decoration and tightening

In the center of the muzzle (where we still have the thread) we sew the tongue (it can be tied, but I made it from a ribbon). We thread the remaining thread into the needle and begin tightening. From the center of the muzzle, insert a needle through the entire head to the back of the head and pull it firmly inward.

Then we pull it along the sides, as if flattening it on both sides:

In a colored snake it’s not very visible, of course, but it looks like nostrils. We sort of fixed the snake’s mouth and flattened its muzzle. The second photo shows how it should be.

Knitting eyes

We knit eyes from white yarn

1st row - 6 sc in amigurumi ring (6)
2nd row - increase in each loop (12)

3rd row - * 1sc + inc * 6 times (18)
4th row - 18 sc (18)

We stuff and sew as in the photo. I sewed it with the same thread that I used to knit the eyes, It's the same thickness as my main one!!! Then, with black thread (I have Yarant threads, you can make it with Iris) I sewed around the outline of the eyes and divided them in half several times, sewed on beads and everything was ready)))

Here's more information about the eyes. We knit it as written in the pattern, it turns out to be an almost flat pancake. We stuff it with synthetic padding and begin to sew it on so that bulging eyes are formed, something like this:

How quickly time flies, in a month it will be New Year, and many are already thinking about gifts for their loved ones and friends. Some people prefer to buy a gift in a store, while others prefer to make it themselves. I suggest the second option, knit a charming snake as a symbol of the year and give it to your loved ones and friends.

You will spend just one day and you will have a surprise ready for the Christmas tree :).

New Year's souvenir

And so let's get started.

We will need:

  • Yarn in three colors:
  1. Basic color of the snake, according to your taste
  2. White for the eyes
  3. Red for tongue and nostrils
  • Synthetic fluff or Holofiber is an ideal filler for toys. Keeps its shape and is easy to wash.
  • Rigid wire to keep its shape, the length depends on you, how long you will knit the snake itself.
  • Beads for eyes - 2 pcs.
  • Yarn hooks
  • Scissors

Legend:

VP - air loop
ss - connecting post
sc - single crochet
dec - decrease loops
pr - adding loops

Description of work:

The amigurumi ring is the beginning of knitting a toy and at the same time is the first row.

2nd row. etc. up to 12 sc

3rd row. etc. up to 18 sc

4 row. etc. up to 24 sc

5 row. etc. up to 30 sc

6th row. etc. up to 36 sc

7-8 row - 36 sc

first 8 rows

Let's divide our circle into two parts, so as not to lose where the row begins, insert a paper clip into the first loop and knit the 9th row.

9 row. - 24 sc, ss in first loop

It turned out to be two circles, one = 24 sc, the second = 12 sc. From the large circle we will knit the head of the snake, and from the small circle the body.

Let's start knitting heads, for this we knit 24 sc in a large circle. This will be our 10th row. In the next 11th row we need to reduce the sc to 18, this means we look at the addition pattern and do everything the other way around, instead of adding we remove the required number of sc.

You need to cast on 11 air loops, fasten the thread and cut. In the 8th chain loop, fasten the thread, cast on 3 chain loops, secure the thread and cut off.

By sewing the tongue to the head, you can adjust its length; unnecessary loops will simply hide in the hole for the tongue.

Now we take the wire, bend the tip of the wire a little, we get a loop. We also bend the wire itself slightly in order to insert it into the snake’s head.

If you want your snake to stand firmly, take a stiffer wire.

Now we fill the head with Holofiber, not too tightly near the tongue, insert the wire and continue stuffing further, try to fill it evenly.

Having stuffed the head tightly, let's move on to the eyes.

We choose a place to form the eyes, attach a thread and knit 5 loops for the base, then knit according to the pattern. (stripes indicate sc, circles indicate ch.)

Fasten the thread and cut it off.

We count two rows towards the nose and attach white yarn. We knit according to the pattern. (stripes indicate sc, circles indicate ch.)

We connect the white and blue parts of the eye, and fill them with filler.

We sew beads to the white part and form eyes.

Now let's move on to the last stage - snake body. We attach a thread to 12 sc, which are located at the bottom of the head. In the place that is closer to the chin, we add one sc, and we get 13 sc. Next we knit in a spiral. While knitting the body, do not forget to fill the body, centimeter by centimeter, otherwise it will be more difficult to do later. Fill around the wire from all sides, try to spread it evenly. At the end of knitting, bend the wire into a loop, as at the very beginning, and tie it until the very end, while not forgetting to decrease the sc. Pull the hole, fasten and cut the thread, hide the tip inside.

Let's twist the body into a ring.

That's all! Happy knitting!
