There is definitely no room for boredom and sadness in such a house. Gypsies are a free and cheerful people, they know a lot about holidays. Walk, walk like that!
Welcome to the gypsy party
Start by sending out invitations to colleagues and friends. They can be decorated in the form of a gypsy flag. It consists of two horizontal stripes - green and blue (green field and blue sky, respectively). A red cart wheel is placed in the center. You can also write invitations to back side Tarot cards. We advise you to choose the “Sun” card, which denotes prosperity and luck, as well as the “Three of Cups” (new opportunities, happiness and feast). Great for New Year's Eve!
Gypsy style outfits

Scarlet lipstick and a red flower in your hair are sure to please It's also easy for guys to choose a suit. Of course, you can buy it in a specialized store or rent it. But it’s not difficult to transform into a gypsy. A loose, colorful shirt, vest, trousers and hat are enough. You can use an earring, a fake mustache, or a smoking pipe. Use your imagination! This applies not only to the costume, but also to the makeup. After all, generally accepted restrictions and standards do not apply to Roma.

Add more meat and spicy foods to the gypsy menu! Dishes should be simple, with hot spices, plenty of vegetables and gravy. Focus on meat: beef, pork, poultry. You can diversify the table with Habe soup and stuffed tomatoes. For dessert, cookies and sweets, “Syvyako” pie made from cottage cheese, poppy seeds and dried fruits are suitable. You can choose the assortment of strong drinks at your discretion. But don't forget about red Moldovan wine.

Having fun to the fullest, dancing, singing all the famous gypsy songs and plunging into the romance of nomadic life is the main goal of the party. What are gypsies without a guitar? A lot of music, songs and dances - that's what you need to focus on. If no one in the group plays guitar, use karaoke. There is hardly a guest who does not know the legendary romances.

The Gypsy New Year should not be complete without comic fortune-telling - Competition "Horse Thieves". Gypsies have always been considered skilled horse thieves. Peasants came to the camp more than once in search of their missing items. But dodgers repainted the horses and sold them at fairs. The essence of the competition is that two teams of “gypsies” stole a pair of horses. To ward off suspicion, they need to repaint the prey in a different color. The game uses two Whatman paper with painted animals, paints and brushes. The winners are those who repaint the horse faster and better.
- Competition “Sew on a mare’s tail.” Make a tail from threads or an old wig. Draw a horse on whatman paper and mount the drawing on a wall or some kind of stand. The participant is blindfolded, spun around, and when he stops in front of the drawing, he is given a “tail.” The player must “sew” it onto the croup. Not everyone can do this. Victory goes to the one who most successfully attached the tail.

The imagination paints such a romantic picture of gypsy life. In our stuffy offices with a clear daily routine, we are very far from this way of life, but sometimes we can allow ourselves to fully feel all the delights of nomadic life. For example, organize a gypsy party! This holiday is ideal if you want to celebrate your birthday in nature, go out with friends to barbecue, or celebrate some event in the courtyard of a private house. But you can decorate a party in this style indoors. And rest assured, the fun will flow like a river, because the free gypsy people know a lot about it like no other!
And the gypsy daughter follows her beloved at night. Invitations
To let guests feel the scale of the upcoming celebration and feel the atmosphere, make bright invitations. To do this, you can make invitations in the form of parcels from aged paper. To make aged paper, you need to dip A4 sheets in a strong coffee or tea solution and then dry it. Such an invitation will not only look like a page from an old book, but also smell nice. The sheet then needs to be rolled into a tube and tied with red ribbon or twine.
Step-by-step instructions on how to artificially age paper:
- Use a printer to print beautiful invitation text.
- Take a deep dish (possibly a basin).
- Boil water in a kettle.
- Pour 3 tablespoons of instant coffee into a bowl.
- After the water boils, dilute 1 liter of boiling water with 1 liter of cool water.
- Pour the resulting 2 liters of warm water into the container with coffee and stir thoroughly all the time.
- Place one A4 sheet at a time into the resulting solution and let the solution soak into the paper for 1 minute.
- After the paper is sufficiently saturated, take it out and place it on an A3 piece of fabric. Cover the A4 sheet with the remaining part of the fabric and iron the fabric.
Another option is to write an invitation on the back of a tarot card. You can format the text as a prediction: “you are destined, good fellow, to have fun until nightfall on the banks of a fast river (or in a manor’s house).” Just be careful what kind of fortune-telling card you use so as not to scare your guests with the gloomy symbols on it. It is best to take the one with the Sun - it prophesies well-being.
Or use the usual format of playing cards and, of course, for dear guests, choose the card suit - chirva.

The ideal solution for holding a gypsy party would be an open area, for example, some picturesque river bank or forest edge. A private house and cottage are also suitable. Of course, in the cold season you will have to be content with an indoor celebration, then you need to choose a larger hall.
Our main task is to decorate the place so that it resembles a real gypsy camp. It is worth defining its boundaries. To do this, simply stick dry sticks around the perimeter of the plot of land you need and stretch a clothesline between them. Hang colorful scarves, scraps of bright fabric, and shirts fluttering in the wind on it. If you have the opportunity to get sheaves of hay, then it would be wonderful to make an armchair, sofa, table out of them - all this will give your clearing a cozy look of a lived-in place. The main colors in the design: red, beige, black, yellow.
It is also necessary to think about evening lighting. After all, gypsies are a nomadic people and evening gatherings with a guitar and songs around the fire are an integral part of their culture.
You can invite animators to your gypsy party, who will greet your guests with songs and dances. Animators dressed as gypsies greet the guests and sing to them “He came to us, he came to us .....” and brought a glass of wine to each person who arrived. Or, with the exception of those, the guests can be met by the hosts of the party themselves.
Organize a photo zone. The best background for photographs will be a real wagon, wagon, cart, or their dummies made of foam plastic and cardboard. Of course, all this should be hung with fringed scarves, beads, garlands, coins, wooden objects, musical instruments - a guitar, tambourines. You can also decorate the photo zone with wildflowers or dried flowers, fruits and berries.

In the center of the lawn you need to arrange a place for a fire that will burn brightly throughout the holiday. Place a large cast iron pot on the fire - you can cook or fry treats for guests on it.
Spread large bright blankets around the entire perimeter of the party venue - it will be very pleasant to lie on them, singing along to the guitar. You can have a picnic and eat while sitting on these blankets, or you can set up a table and wooden benches for these purposes. It is best to use simple, unbreakable utensils, for example, stainless steel or even wood. If you decide to use disposable tableware, then buy brightly colored tableware. If the choice falls on ordinary porcelain dishes white, then make sure that the napkins, tablecloth and other accessories are bright in color - preferably red. But in general, since gypsies are nomadic people, all the cutlery on the table can be completely different. 
Finally, the most interesting and striking design detail is the fortune teller’s tent. Under a canopy of colorful fabric there should be a round table, decorated with flasks with “potions”, dried herbs and ancient magical tomes. In the middle of it, of course, there should be a magic ball, looking into which you can see the future. Hire an animator who will play a fortune teller and languidly ask you to “gild” her pen. Guests will definitely be curious to take part in fortune-telling using coffee grounds and listen to what the Tarot predicts. 
Black eyes, passionate eyes. Dress code
Gypsy clothing should be elegant, bright, even provocative. The easiest way is to go to specialized stores to rent a suit, but you can do it on your own - just look in your grandmother’s closet. 🙂
The main attribute of a girl’s look should be a long, bright, floor-length skirt. You can wear several skirts different lengths. Blouses with a neckline and flounces, or with flared sleeves, are suitable for the top. Let your hair down, insert a large and lush flower behind your ear. Massive rings, hoop earrings, large beads, gold bracelets - today you can put all this on yourself and not be afraid of being accused of bad taste. Try on a beautiful bright scarf on your head as well – it will suddenly suit you and you don’t have to bother with your hairstyle for a gypsy party! Line your lips with bright scarlet lipstick, and, of course, don’t forget to light a mischievous sparkle in your eyes. The image of the free daughter of a gypsy baron is ready!
Guys can wear a loose-fitting shirt, it’s good if it’s red or with bright multi-colored elements. Be sure to tuck black trousers into high-top boots. The look will be complemented by a wide satin belt to match the color of the shirt, a black vest and a hat. You can even put a clip on your ear and glue on a black mustache if you don't have one.

A great idea would be to prepare only a side dish in advance, for example, boiled potatoes with herbs, and cook the main meat dish over the fire. It can be beef, lamb, or chicken stewed in a pot. If you want something more original, please your guests with traditional gypsy soup “habe” with herbs and onions, in meat broth. Recipes for its preparation are available online. Or, if you don’t want to worry too much, just fry a delicious kebab on the grill. Keep in mind - gypsies do not eat bread. Replace it with unleavened flatbreads and pies. And kebab with flatbread and aromatic herbs, what could be even better!

Gypsies are a very musical people. If any of your guests know how to play the guitar, be sure to take time to sit around the fire and sing. Provide everyone with tambourines, tambourines, and small shakers to accompany the soloist. Or invite a real ensemble and let them play catchy violin melodies for everyone for an hour. You can not only sing along, but also dance. Performing a “gypsy girl” with an exit, waving colorful skirts is a mandatory ritual at such a party!
In addition to music and dancing, invite guests to participate in several competitions:
- Gypsy forfeits. A beautiful gypsy woman approaches the guests with a hat and asks them to put something in it: a handkerchief, a chain, a watch, a mobile phone. From among the guests present, you choose a gypsy partner. Having collected things from all the participants, the gypsy woman begins to take them out one at a time from her hat, asking: “What will the owner of this thing serve our gypsy camp?” In response to this, the partner takes out previously prepared paper strips with funny and simple tasks from another hat (container) and reads out what the owner of the thing must do. For example, spoon-feed the birthday boy or say the letter “P” with your mouth open.
- Strange dancing. Such a competition can be held during dancing. Guests are divided into pairs - who danced next to whom or according to preferences. Then, during the music change, the presenter begins to shout out tasks. The tasks could be as follows, for example, during a slow dance, shout:
- we dance without hands - couples begin to dance without touching their partner’s hands. Couples swinging opposite each other will look funny.
- we dance with our hands on our partner’s shoulders - during moving music, both partners’ hands should be on their shoulders.
- dancing on one leg - here also turn on rhythmic music and let all couples quickly move to the rhythm of the music on one leg.
The winner is the best couple of the gypsy camp, who will complete all the tasks of the leader and last the longest on the dance floor.
- It was yours, it becameyours again. In ancient times, Gypsies were known as skilled horse thieves. They say that sometimes they managed to steal a horse, repaint it a different color and sell it at exorbitant prices to the previous owner! The contestants will do roughly the same thing. Divide them into two teams, give each a set of brushes and paints and a stallion. These could be children's wooden horses or just images of a horse on whatman paper. The participants' task is to paint the horse as quickly as possible.
- Atsculpt the mare's tail. The already repainted horses from the previous competition need to have a tail attached. Double-sided tape is glued to a puffy ponytail made from threads and given to the blindfolded contestant. You need to spin it thoroughly around its axis, stop it facing the mare and set the task - attach the tail to its proper place.
Whoever missed got a free kick!

Bright outfits, dark skin, characteristic pride and love of freedom. And also constant dancing, entertainment and no boring work. Yes, these are gypsies!
They live in many countries in Europe and the world. This is a single, non-territorial nation. There are many unproven facts about the origin of this ethnic group. However, according to genetic and linguistic studies, the ancestors of the Roma were the inhabitants of India.
Instead of a coat of arms, these people use certain symbols: a deck of cards, a horseshoe, a carriage wheel. Flag: two stripes representing blue sky and green meadow. In the center is a red wheel. 
Such attributes decorate magazines, websites and any literature telling about the freedom-loving gypsy people.
As a result of the influence of surrounding nationalities, the Roma different countries differ from each other, some do not even know their native language. Historian and ethnographer Nikolai Bessonov believes that there is only one clear marker inherent in each representative of a nomadic people - “opposition.” More precisely, psychological division of the world into gypsies and non-gypsies.
Forget the planned lifestyle of modern business people. Time to feel all the charm of adventurism, carefreeness, passion and expression! And the organization of a very original, fun and incendiary will help with this gypsy party!
Such a walk assumes a romantic mood, liberation of participants and reunification with nature. Ready? Then here is the scenario for a gypsy party in order.
1. Day and time
Undoubtedly, to organize fun you need to set aside a whole day, or even a day. Since the start of the holiday is planned for daytime, the ideal day would be Saturday. Collection time: around 14.00. There is no point in calling for an earlier time - let people sleep and get ready calmly.
2. Invitation
There are several options here.
You can make invitations in the form of rolled old paper. Sign with a black pen, preferably gel or ink. Making paper is very simple: take the required number of A4 sheets, leave them in a container with pre-diluted coffee and cinnamon (1 tablespoon per 2 liters of water) for 1-2 hours. Or paint the sheets on both sides with the infused solution using a paint brush. Leave in a warm place until completely dry. The old worn paper is ready! Roll into a narrow bundle, tie with a thin ribbon or twisted rope. 
The second option for making invitations: cut out a horseshoe from foil or make a card in the shape of a fan. In the text: emphasize what is important. Guests must arrive on time wearing appropriate attire. If the meeting place is unfamiliar, provide details of the address and how to get there. You can even finish drawing a simple map. Mark the meeting place with a red cross: add some flavor to your idea!
Why not design the invitation in the form of a fortune-telling Tarot card: indicate on the back the prediction that the guest is destined to have fun, in a green space or in a luxurious house, indicating where, when, with whom. It is best to choose a card with the image of the sun symbol (luck, fortune, prosperity).
3. Meeting guests
Do it loudly and cheerfully. You can, offering open arms, say: “Come in, dear! How long have I been waiting for you!” Women, meeting those invited, can unceremoniously ask to gild her hand so that they can warm themselves by the big family fire and experience real fun, yes, such fun that “the soul will unfold”! Ask guests in advance to take change or chocolate coins (there are plenty of these at supermarket checkouts).
4. Dress code
Gypsy clothing does not have strict criteria regarding sleeve or skirt length. The usual option: a skirt made of heavy fabric that drags along the floor and men's wide shirts with flared sleeves. But you’re unlikely to find many suitable items in your home wardrobe. The easiest option is to rent costumes in cultural centers, theaters, or order online. 
If you search, sew and combine yourself, here are some tips:
Women: long skirts to the floor. A modern gypsy can wear a shorter skirt if the other elements of the image correspond to what was planned. For example, Jennifer Lopez in her video Ain’t It Funny was dressed far from a traditional costume, but everything turned out very impressive!
Blouses that reveal shoulders, but not a very revealing neckline - gypsies are daring, but not vulgar! Hair down. Behind the ear - a bright flower or a colored ribbon in the hair. Shoes: hide comfortable ballet flats under your skirt, or wear open sandals. The most desperate can go barefoot, but first check the area for sharp stones and broken glass. Makeup is discreet. But juicy red lipstick is welcome. Pick up massive beads, bracelets, rings and large hoop earrings: now you are a real gypsy! 
Men: loose-fitting trousers and shirts. You can wear a wide satin belt. Good combinations: white or red shirt, black trousers, red belt. Or a bright satin shirt and a black vest. A black hat and ear clips will complete the look. 
Shoes: boots or shoes. In the first case, be sure to tuck your trousers into your boots, in the second - vice versa, because the trousers should be loose-fitting, and the shoes should be classic. If there is a chief baron among the men, make sure that he is alone. Or make it an entertaining spectacle: the main baron will be the one who passes the test (for example, arm wrestling). The vanquished must humbly accept the leader!
For a spectacular appearance, you can glue a mustache on yourself and ride to the party on a black horse. But think in advance about what to do next with the horse!
Exclusive roles: Oracle/fortune teller, bear, horse. Use your imagination here. If you find a top-notch bear costume for a natural born ringleader - good mood guaranteed!
5. Venue. Decor
The best place for a gypsy-style party is an open area. Better than a green lawn on the picturesque river bank: a real open-air camp!
A dacha or private house with a large plot of land is perfect. Nature, all the amenities are nearby, and the costs are low.
Of course, it must be a warm time of year.
Fence a large area as follows: along the perimeter of the required plot of land, place sticks from dry trees, preferably curved ones, this is more realistic, stretch an old rope between them. Hang colorful scraps of fabric and items of clothing on these ropes: blouses, T-shirts, towels (everything is bright or white). These are things that are dried after washing - a certain identifying sign of a broken camp for random passers-by. 
Tie colored scarves onto wooden sticks. And in general, colored scarves with fringes should decorate everyone and everything: the more you find of them, the better!
There is a large fire in the center of the lawn. Prepare cast iron pots. In one of them, cook porridge or fish soup right during the holiday.
Organize 1-2 tents. Decorate the entrance with fringe, coins, garlands, if possible, to light them. Attach printed pictures of tents and camps directly to the fabric of your tents. These should be high-quality, bright photographs of real colorful gypsies, fortune tellers, actors from themed films, and artists. 
You can make decorative tents, carts, and carts out of foam plastic or cardboard (a great place for a photo!).
In a remote corner, place a small folding table with “ magic ball”, fancy jars, test tubes with dried herbs and spices. Decorate the table with feathers and small cups for fortune telling on coffee grounds! Place a fortuneteller there who will prepare the most interesting prophecies for each guest in advance! This image can be truly original. A good actress should become a fortune teller, who will not emerge from her languid image with a piercing gaze. Or it will be a guy dressed as a fortune teller. In the latter case, everything is the same, just add humorous phrases.
Place colorful blankets on the ground: enough so that all guests can freely waddle or even lie down. Musical instruments will be a good addition to the decor: tambourines, guitars, violins.
The table can be either a separate blanket spread in the center or a real table, on which you place wooden benches (the second option is more troublesome and less appropriate if the holiday is not in a private yard, but in nature). Anyway, in the center festive table place a huge bouquet of wildflowers. You can pre-dry the empty pumpkin (the pulp must be removed 2-3 days in advance), which will turn into a creative flower vase. It’s good if you find brass or copper utensils. You can use a regular one with gold rims (but do not take expensive things - field conditions do not require excessive accuracy).
Prepare a barbecue - barbecue is always appropriate for a birthday in the summer.
6. Menu
You can prepare all dishes in advance. But it’s better to cook up a few treats right during the celebration at the fire. Gypsies are nomadic people, so they often cook various meats on fire: lamb, chicken, veal. You can stew meat in a cast iron cauldron, with pepper and herbs and sweet pepper! Or just barbecue. Boil new potatoes with dill, add butter and greenery! You can prepare the gypsy’s favorite soup “habe”, with onions, herbs, and meat broth. Take note that these people love tomatoes and hot spices. Instead of bread - bread cakes (possibly with sesame seeds) and pies. In order not to worry too much, save the ironclad argument for yourself and your guests that the gypsies eat the food that is popular in the country where they are staying! But the emphasis, of course, is on the meat. Delicacy – fish dishes.
Alcohol: of course, red wine! At the discretion of the organizer, you can add sweet liqueurs and stronger fuel.
For dessert: cottage cheese pie “syvyako”, with raisins, dried apricots, prunes and poppy seeds. Place candies in bright wrappers in wicker baskets!
7. Music and entertainment
You can invite a real ensemble that will play tambourines and violins for you for an hour or two, and sing gypsy songs! But if you have a cheerful group of dancing and singing people, it is much more interesting to perform songs yourself, even if accompanied by a soundtrack.
The main hit, of course, is “Hide the girl behind the high fence.” Here is a video where, by the way, the famous dance - the gypsy girl - is well shown.

Of course, wishes should only be good and with a fair amount of humor. You can guess throughout the party and not only on the cards, but also on your hand.
