Cross knitting is often attractive to needlewomen. Some people like the opportunity to turn the pattern into a vertical plane, others know that knitting an item this way is faster and easier. In addition, this is also an opportunity to knit an item in a one-piece version (not counting the sleeves).

We will crochet a long cozy vest from soft yarn using cross knitting. For knitting, we will prepare acrylic yarn; do not hesitate to choose threads marked “children’s” or “baby”, this means that the item will be soft, delicate to the touch, and will not cause allergies.

We select the color scheme. If a single-color vest seems a little boring to you, then use sectionally dyed threads, and if you like color combinations, then combine plain yarn with threads that have a shimmer of color. In total, the vest requires 350-400 grams of yarn.

In our case, we spent: 130 grams of "Baby print" yarn with a thread length of 400 m per 100 grams of sectional dyeing and 200 grams of single-color "Dolly" yarn with a thread length of 300 m per 50 grams.

The fact that one thread is slightly thinner than the other does not matter; when combining yarns in knitting, this will not be noticeable. We use hook No. 3 and the simplest, loosest crochet stitch. The whole effect of the item will lie in the color combination of the yarn. Another equally pleasant thing is that the pattern of such a vest is a simple rectangle; there are only two shoulder seams in the model, so even a beginner can do it.

We decide on the size of the vest. The width of the vest, when knitted crosswise, is obtained from the height of the knitted fabric. We take three measurements: the length of the back from the point at the bottom of the neck to the desired length (in our case - 92 cm); then the width of the back, measure it between the extreme points of the right and left shoulders (in our case 54 cm); for the shelves we make a calculation of 54 cm: 2 + 7 cm = 34 cm (an increase of 7 cm is needed in order to get the sides of the vest, you can make them wider or, conversely, narrower, you can not add these centimeters, then the shelves will end up end-to-end); armhole length, measured from the top of the shoulder to the level you want (in our case 26 cm). For symmetry, in the future we will make a cut of the same length in the lower part of the vest so that it is not too tight on the hips.

We knit a sample of yarn, 10 x 10 cm, to determine how many initial loops need to be cast on. Again, in our case, there were 120 loops for 92 cm of back length.

We start knitting with plain yarn. First row - we cast on 120 air loops, plus one loop for lifting. Turn the knitting and start knitting double crochets from the second stitch of the row. After six identical rows, add a second thread of section-dyed yarn, leaving the plain thread loose.

We knit 2 or 4 rows (there should be an even number of them so that we return to the place where the thread from the single-color yarn remains), leave the multi-color thread, and knit again with a mono-color thread. In this way, the entire fabric of the vest will be made; the stripes of changing colors can be the same width, different widths, a combination of wide and narrow, it’s up to your taste.

If you're into knitting, don't miss out on the armhole. At a distance of 34 cm, in our case this is the 44th row, we do not knit 32 loops to the edge of the fabric. We turn the knitting and knit with double crochets until 26 cm remains to the other edge of the fabric, that is, the same 32 loops (during the measurements, we determined that the length of the armhole and the cut will be the same). The middle part is 56 loops. Make a lifting loop again and turn the knitting. Now we knit a full row, adding 32 air loops on one side and the other. All numbers are given as an example; you can use your own calculations for any yarn and product size.

We continue knitting the back, following the same principle as before. Then we leave space for the armhole and cut of the vest on the other side, previously knitted symmetrically. We finish knitting the left front also in symmetry with the right.

Assembling the vest is very simple. Fold the fabric on the right and left sides along the shoulder line and knit or sew with the same thread used for knitting.

Using a single-color thread, tie the entire perimeter of the vest and its armholes with single crochets in two rows.

At the top of the vest, bend the corners of the shelves to create small lapels. It is better to secure them with small buttons that match the color of the product. The vest is ready.

This vest can be worn loosely or with a belt, selected in combination with the color scheme of the item. Knitting is very simple, the style is suitable for any figure, and the result is pleasing to the eye, so trying to make such a vest will be pleasant and not burdensome. There is also room for experimenting with colors or knitting patterns, so you can knit two, three or four different versions of the sleeveless vest.

In today's master class we will look at common cross knitting using knitting needles. Using this method you can knit things for the whole family: for children, for men and women. This master class will be useful for both beginning needlewomen and experienced craftswomen, as we will try to describe in detail and visually present the issue being studied.

We study cross knitting of a vest with diagrams and descriptions

We present a variant of knitting a vest with sleeves. The vest considered as an example is suitable for girls wearing sizes 42 - 44.

In order to knit a vest you will need the following materials:

  • Light green yarn - 350 g (requires 40% cotton, 40% polyacrylic, 20% polyamide and 85m/50g);
  • Knitting needles - No. 8.

The main knitting pattern is a chain of slipped stitches.

The knitting pattern is shown in the diagram.

Let's knit the back of the future vest. Take the knitting needles and cast on 18 stitches. You need to knit two rows with an elastic band 1 by 1, and then you need to knit 12 rows with the main pattern. At the end of the purl row, we additionally cast on 26 loops and continue to knit all 44 loops with the main pattern. When the 86th row is reached, close off 26 loops and continue knitting with the main pattern. Row 101 is closed with an elastic band.

The front is knitted as follows: first, cast on 39 stitches and knit two rows with an elastic band, and then use the main pattern. In order to decorate the neckline, you need to add one loop five times in the 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th and 19th rows. At the beginning of the 39th front row, we close 26 loops and knit with the main pattern up to the 50th row, the 51st and 52nd rows are knitted with an elastic band, and in the 53rd we close 18 loops.

When all the parts of the vest are ready, you need to sew them.

To process the neck of the vest, you need to cast on 51 loops along the neck and knit 4 rows with an elastic band, then bind off all the loops.

Let's try to create a warm pullover with a step-by-step master class

Cross knitting can be used to make an excellent pullover for women. The presented model is suitable for girls who wear sizes 44-46. To knit a pullover you will need:

  • Yarn – 1200 g;
  • Straight knitting needles No. 10;
  • Circular knitting needles No. 10.

We will knit the pullover with a wavy pattern, which is performed as follows: the number of loops must be a strict multiple. The main pattern will be knitted according to the pattern shown below.

The pullover is knitted crosswise from two parts. We start knitting the product from the right sleeve. Cast on 38 stitches and knit with a wavy pattern. All actions are described in detail on the diagram. The front pullover is knitted from the left sleeve. When all the parts are connected, you can start stitching the elements. First, the sleeves are sewn together and the shoulder seams are made. Next, the sides of the pullover are sewn.

Let's create a simple and warm hat with cross knitting.

For an example of studying cross knitting, we suggest knitting a fashionable and very stylish hat - a beanie. These types of hats are especially popular now.

To knit a hat you will need:

  • Yarn – 100g;
  • Circular knitting needles - No. 7.

This hat took all the yarn - one skein. If you want to get a less dense knitting result, you can take knitting needles numbered 8.5 or 9.

Let's start knitting. You need to cast on 30 stitches on the knitting needles. The first two rows are worked in garter stitch until the end. All loops are knit stitches. Don't forget that the first loop and the last are edge loops. We knit the third row with a shortened row, consisting of one edge loop, then 23 knit stitches, and at the end we leave 6 loops unknitted. You can leave five or seven loops, depending on how deep you want the wedge to be.

To avoid making holes between the 24th and 25th loops, you need to remove the 25th loop on the right knitting needle. Next, turn the knitting over and knit 24 knit stitches. The next row is knitted like this: one edge loop, 24 knit stitches and then leave five loops unknitted. When the first cap wedge is knitted, the rounding becomes visible. We need to tie 7 wedges. The total width should be 46 cm. At the end, on all 30 loops you need to knit 2 rows of facial loops and bind off all the loops. The result should be a great hat.

Using the same technique, you can knit a scarf – a snood – to the hat.

You can even make a coat with cross knitting. In order to study the patterns and patterns of this warm item, as well as the features of knitting, we suggest watching videos that cover this topic.

Video on the topic of the article

Cross knitting has gained incredible popularity in our time. In this article we will learn how to knit items using the crosswise technique.

By cross knitting it is possible to create original, beautiful things for both children and women.

Original vest

Using this knitting technique you can get an interesting vest:

We will need Bouton d'Or threads: 8/9/10/11/12 skeins of Surya (55% viscose bamboo fiber, 45% soybean fiber, 156 m/50 g) gray-green (005); knitting needles No. 3 and No. 3.5; additional knitting needle.

Make 4 knit stitches crossed to the left: remove two extra stitches. knitting needle placed in front, knit the next two loops, then two loops with extra. knitting needles

8 knit stitches crossed to the left: slip four extra stitches. knitting needle placed in front, knit the next four stitches, then 4 stitches with additional stitches. knitting needles

8 knit stitches crossed to the right: slip off four stitches. for extra knitting needle placed at the back, knit the next four stitches, then 4 stitches with additional stitches. knitting needles

Need knitting needles No. 3.5: 34 sts and 37 r. = 10 x 10 cm.

Back. We cast on 90/95/98/102/109 stitches on needles No. 3 and knit with a 1/1 elastic band. At a height of 3 cm we knit one row. purl purl stitches side on knitting needles No. 3.5, evenly adding 32 stitches. It turns out 122/126/130/134/141 sts. Then we knit according to the pattern, making an increase on the left of 15 × 1 loops in every second row. We get 137/141/145/149/156 loops. At a height of 21.5/23/24.5/26/29 cm, close 2 loops on the right side for the neckline, then close 3 x 1 stitches in every second row, 2 x 1 stitches in every fourth row. 130/ remains. 135/138/142/149 loops. Knit 138 rows according to the pattern, then continue to knit in a mirror manner.

Before. We knit similarly to the back, except for the neck. At a height of 21.5/23/24.5/26/29 cm we close 6 loops on the left side for the neckline, then we close in every second row 4 x 2 p., 7 x 1 p. Remaining 116/121/124/ 128/135 loops.

Assembly. At the bottom of the back, we cast on 137/147/157/167/185 stitches on needles No. 3 and knit with a 1/1 elastic band. At a height of 15 cm, close the loops and knit them according to the pattern. We also perform the bar at the bottom of the front. We perform 1 shoulder seam. Along the neckline we cast on 156 stitches on needles No. 3 and knit with a 1/1 elastic band. At a height of 1.5 cm, close the loops. We make the second shoulder seam, sew the sides and sleeves.

You can also knit a great coat. Here is the knitting pattern:

Cross knit pullover

For a pullover for women you will need:

  • half a kilogram of thick yarn;
  • knitting needles No. 4;
  • circular knitting needles No. 3.

Basic pattern: “Polish elastic”: (number of loops, a multiple of 4 + 3 stitches).

1st row: 3 persons. loops, 1 p. loops, 3 persons. loops; Row 2: K1. loop, 1 p. n., 3 persons. loops, 1 p. p., 1 persons. P.

Knitting density: 20.8 p. x 35 r. = 10 x 10 cm.

Pattern:

We knit from the beginning of the sleeve.

We cast on 37 loops and knit with the main pattern. For bevels, add 1 stitch on both sides in every fourth row 20 times (=77 stitches), in every second row 10 times (=97 stitches).

At a height of 54 cm, we immediately cast on 34 loops on both sides (= 165 stitches) and introduce new loops into the pattern. Then we knit 11 cm on all loops, after which we divide the work: leave 81 loops for the back, close 7 loops for the neckline, and 77 stitches for the front.

We knit the front and back separately 26 cm, then we cast on 7 loops between them and knit 11 cm on all of them. After that, we reduce the number of loops on both sides in the reverse order: we close 34 loops, for bevels we reduce 1 loop in every second row 10 times, in every fourth row 20 times. At a height of 156 cm from the beginning we close all the loops (= 37 sts).

Assembly. Along the edge of the neckline, we cast on 68 loops with knitting needles and knit five cm with a basic pattern, but in even rows the pattern loops are reversed: instead of the front one - purl, instead of purl - front stitch, five rows of the front stitch, close the loops. Sew the sides and sleeves.

Beanie hat

Detailed instructions for knitting a hat can be seen below.

First, we knit the main element of the headdress - the crown, in the transverse direction. Next, along the long side of the main element, we collect loops and tie the bottom, making decreases towards the top of the cap. At the end, the loops remaining on the top of the head are pulled together and the hat is sewn at the back of the head.

In order to make the seam at the back of the hat invisible, you should sew the open loops of the main element with a “knitted” seam, connecting the open first row and the open loops of the outermost one. Unraveling the loops of the first row will not be difficult if you first make a set using a crochet hook that unravels easily.

We cast on forty stitches and knit the main part of the hat with a long strip with a “braid” pattern in the middle. The initial and outer loops are edge loops; form them in a “chain”.

From the edges we knit the initial and last seven loops in garter stitch (we knit these loops with knit stitches in both purl and knit rows).

We knit the next eleven rows in stockinette stitch and in the 25th right row we cross 16 loops from the second part of the central element of the cap. To do this, knit the initial 8 stitches, slip the next 8 stitches onto an additional knitting needle and place them before work, knit the last eight stitches with knit stitches, then knit the loops from the additional knitting needle.

We repeat the weave pattern from the second to the 25th row five times, then knit 12 rows in stockinette stitch. The finished main part of the cap should be equal in length to the circumference of the head. At the end of the loops, do not close them; slip them onto an additional needle.

We knit the bottom of the headdress. We cast on loops along the top of the finished element, pulling the loops from the edge onto a working knitting needle. We cast on the loops from the front side so that a number of edge loops are on the wrong side.

We knit the cast-on loops with an elastic band, 1 knit x 1 purl, 11 rows. In the 12th row we knit all the loops two together, collecting two knit stitches together and two purl stitches together. Then we knit four more rows with a 1×1 elastic band, halving all the loops. We cut the working thread after knitting two more rows. Don't forget to leave a piece of good length. We take a needle with a wide eye, insert it and pull the tip of the thread through the remaining loops and tighten them.

Long cross jacket job description:

Left back and front: are made in one piece, straight and reverse rows on circular knitting needles, starting from the middle of the back. Cast on 81-83-85-88-90-92 sts for back on rounds using 8mm needles.

1st row (= IS)- knit all sts. Knit trace, row (2nd row = RS) as follows: knit pattern M.1 A (= 3 p), knit pattern M.1 (= 5 p) 5-5-5-6- 6 times, then knit pattern M.2 (= 18 sts), 31-33-35-33-35-37 sts in stockinette stitch, finish p1, k1, p1 and k1 (= 4 ribbed edge stitches ). Work another 2-2-4-4-6-6 rows in the same manner with 4 ribbed edge stitches on the sides. Then add for the neck as follows:

Row 1 (= IS): knit until 3 stitches remain on the needle (= pattern M.1A), purl 1, knit 1, inc. 1 p - see Performing increases 1 above, finish 1 knit.

Row 2 (= RS): knit pattern M. 1 B on the first 4 sts on the knitting needle, continue according to the pattern.

Row 3: knit until 4 stitches remain on the needle (= pattern M.1B), p1, k1, p1, inc. 1 p. and finish 1 knit. p. = 83-85-87-90-92-94 p.

Row 4: knit pattern M.1 on the first 5 sts on a knitting needle, continue according to the pattern (= 6-6-6-7-7-7 repeats of pattern M.1 in total).

Row 5: knit the entire row, Cast on 84-86-88-91-93-95 sts for front at end of row = 167-171-175-181-185-189 sts on needle.

Row 6 (= RS): K1, P1, K1, P1 (= 4 ribbed edge stitches), 31-33-35-33-35-37 sts in stockinette stitch, 1st row in pattern M.2, k1, then pattern M .1 total 12-12-12-14-14-14 times (= 60-60-60-70-70-70 sts), pattern M.2, 31-33-35-33-35-37 sts in stockinette stitch , finish p1, k1, p1 and k1 (= 4 ribbed edge stitches). Continue along the pattern and 4 edges. with an elastic band on both sides of the part. Remember the knitting density!

When pattern M.2 on the back is knitted a total of 4-4-5-5-6-Є times (the length of the back will be approximately 23-23-28-28-33-33 cm from the cast-on edge, insert 2 markers into the piece with the RS as follows like this: 58-60-62-60-62-64 sts (= front), 1 marker, 51-51-51-61-61-61 sts (= sleeve), 1 marker, 58-60-62-60- 62-64 sts (=back). Now finish each part separately.

Left shelf: Complete the 1st row (= RS) as follows: knit 58-60-62-60-62-64 sts (up to the 1st marker) according to the pattern and stockinette stitch as before, turn the piece. At the beginning of the next row (= IS), close off 23 stitches (= 1 repeat of pattern M.1 and pattern M.2) for all sizes, knit until the end of the row. Cast off 10-12-12-12-12-12 sts at beg next. 2 rows with WS = 15-13-15-13-15-17 sts left on needle, loosely cast off all sts in next row. row.

Sleeve:=51-51-51-61-61-61 sts (= 1 knit stitch + 10-10-10-12-12-12 reps of pattern M.1). Knit 2 rows - all knits according to pattern M.1 (1st row = RS). At the beginning of the trail. 2 rows close 1 loop. Repeat closure st at the beginning of each row on both sides 5 times in total = 41-41-41-51-51-51 sts (1 knit + 8-8-8-10-10-10 repeats of pattern M.1). At a piece height of approximately 35-35-36-39-42-42 cm (adjust so that the last row is the 2nd row according to pattern M.1), loosely close all sts according to the pattern (knit over knit and purl. above purl).

Left back:= 58-60-62-60-62-64 sts. In the 1st row with RS, cast off 23 sts at the beginning of the row for all sizes, knit to the end of the row. Cast off 10-12-12-12-12-12 sts at beg next. 2 rows with RS = 15-13-15-13-15-17 sts left on the needle, loosely cast off all sts in the next row. row.

Right back and front: performed in one piece. Cast on 81-83-85-88-90-92 sts for back on rounds using 8 mm needles. Row 1 (= RS) - k all sts. Work next row (2nd row = RS) as follows: k1, p1, k1 and p1 (= 4 ribbed edge stitches), 31-33 -35-33-35-37 sts in stockinette stitch, then knit pattern M.2 (= 18 sts), pattern M.Z (= 5 sts) 5-5-5-6-6-6 times, finish with pattern M. FOR (= 3 p).

Work another 3-3-5-5-7-7 rows in the same manner with 4 ribbed edge stitches. Then add for the neck as follows:

Row 1 (= RS): knit until 3 sts remain on the needle (= pattern M.ZA), k1, p1, inc. 1 p - see Performing incs 2 above, finish 1 p.

Row 2 (= IS): knit pattern M.ZV on the first 4 sts on a knitting needle, continue according to the pattern.

Row 3: knit until 4 sts remain on the needle (= pattern M.ZV), k1, p1, k1, inc. 1 p and finish 1 p = 83-85-87-90-92-94 p.

Row 4: knit the M.Z pattern on the first 5 stitches on the needle, knit until the end of the row (= 6-6-6-7-7-7 repeats of the M.Z pattern in total).

Row 5 (= RS): knit the entire row. At the end of the row, cast on 84-86-88-91-93-95 new sts for front = 167-171 - 175-181 -185-189 sts on needle.

Row 6 (= IS): P1, k1, p1, k1 (= 4 ribbed edge stitches), 31-33-35-33-35-37 sts in stockinette stitch,

8th row according to pattern M.2, purl 1, then pattern M.3 a total of 12-12-12-14-14-14 times (= 60-60-60-70-70-70 sts), pattern M.2, 31- 33-35-33-35-37 sts in stockinette stitch, finish k1, p1, k1 and p1 (= 4 ribbed edge stitches). Next, next to the RS, perform the 1st row according to pattern M.2 for the front. Knit like the left back and front, but mirrored.

Assembly: Sew both parts together along the middle of the back. Sew sleeve seams and side seams.

Plank: knitted in straight and reverse rows on circles, 7 mm knitting needles. Starting at the bottom edge of the right front, pick up with RS approximately 180-210 sts along the right front, around the neckline and down along the left front. Next, row (= IS) - knit, at the same time align the number of loops to 191-195-201-209-215-219. Work next row with RS as follows: k1, * p1, k1 *, repeat from *-* to end of row. Continue in the same way with an elastic band about 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. Then insert 2 markers; 78-80-80-84-86-88 sts on both sides = 35-35-41-41-43-43 sts between markers. In the next step, next to the drug, there is an increase. 17-17-20-20-21-21 sts between markers as follows: knit up to 1st marker, then k1, *inc. 1 st, p1, k1 *, repeat from *-* to 2nd marker, knit to end of row = 208-212-221-229-236-240 sts. Continue k over k and p over p. When the placket measures 5-5-5-6-6-6 cm, evenly bind off the 3 buttonholes on the left placket - see explanation above. When the length of the bar is 8-8-8-9-9-9 cm, loosely bind off all stitches.
