The most important moment is the christening of the child. This is more important than any holiday, because on this day the baby gets the opportunity to join the church, and his soul gets a chance for salvation. Mom and Dad are very excited about this day. But everything can be made a little easier if you prepare for this day in advance. For example, knitting a beautiful dress with your own hands for a christening.

This product can be easily put on your baby after bathing. It will look beautiful and according to church traditions. But the most interesting thing is that all kinds of ruffles and flowers can distract the baby and he often stops crying and begins to look at the decorations of his outfit.

Several models of beautiful dresses for a girl's christening, using a crochet hook.

For a baptismal dress, do not use thick and warm threads.

Therefore, here you can choose only their cotton models and you will only have to choose the thickness, since the color is mainly used in white or other pastel colors.

The hook should be the perfect size, usually there is a small hint for it on the skein of yarn itself.

Sample

A sample before creating a christening dress will show how many loops are needed in width and height. Therefore, you should not be lazy and it is better to complete a small square than to unravel the whole product after an incorrect set.

We knitted it and looked at how many loops there would be in 10 cm, and how many rows there would be. Everything was transferred to the patterns and you can start creating the model.

Baptism dress for girls with fillet mesh

Very beautiful model and is very similar to the very first models of baptismal shirts using a hook. It is no coincidence that such a familiar fillet knitting motif with roses.

The work requires:

  • iris yarn;
  • hook 0.85.

Measurements

It is very important for the model to make a good stock. The point is not that the model will need to be put on the baby after bathing. But in the future, according to tradition, this dress will be useful for the baby. Add 10 cm to your model.

Front shelf

To complete this you need to dial on the number of stitches and calculate how many to knit. loin mesh before and after the pattern. The pattern must be made in the center of the shelf. For the armhole, make square bevels. For each side, simply close 4 squares of fillet mesh.

Important! Please note that the buttons are intended for the back, and the front shelf is a one-piece product.

Rear shelf parts

The diagram for the rear shelves is also shown and the armhole is made at the same level as the armholes for the front shelf.

Sleeves

Cast on one repeat of the pattern for the sleeve (this is for a 1-year-old model) and knit a complete repeat in height. Then just move on to the fillet mesh and finish knitting the sleeves after 10 rows. Also knit the second sleeve.

Hem

The most interesting and unusual detail is the hem of the christening dress. It is knitted with a simple strip across the product. It’s better to knit it separately and then just sew it on. The width of the strip is, accordingly, the length of the product. But the width of the hem helps to adjust the length of the strip, very interesting. The longer the strip, the more magnificent this detail will be in the work. For a year old, 7 rapports were knitted.

Assembly

I really liked the lace around the edge of the skirt, and when will we talk about them. To make everything look neat, you will first need to do the assembly, that is, sew on all the parts. But then we’ll do the binding and lace detail, among other things. First, we combine the shelves and sew them in the shoulder areas, then we sew in the sleeves and then sew on the hem strip. It is very important not to rush here, but to achieve even folds along the hem. It is better to first stitch or pin with pins and only after matching, sew with a running stitch.

Harness

Tie the neckline with one row of double crochets. But along the line of the buttons, tie the edges with two rows of single crochets. Make holes on one side. One hole is made like this: a double crochet is skipped and one chain loop is knitted instead. Make holes at a distance of 7 cm from each other along the entire length of the edge. The border at the bottom of the hem is made using the diagram below. Knit one row along the entire edge.

The model is ready and all that remains is to sew on the buttons. Mother-of-pearl buttons look good on white.

Making a baptismal dress is not that difficult. Moreover, the presence of diagrams and a good description only encourages the master to complete the product without problems.

But even for a beginner it is quite possible to make such models and not get confused in the work. Therefore, we choose good cotton, a crochet hook and start knitting a christening dress.

Sew a snowflake into the middle of the crown.
Neck decoration (or headband) and brooch:
Knit with YarnArt “Summer” yarn
Knit leaves for flowers according to the pattern:

Sew the leaves together, 5 pieces per layer, collecting the flower (the bottom layer is large leaves, the top layer is smaller leaves). Sew 5 beads in the middle.
For a brooch, attach a brooch clasp to the back.

To decorate your neck (or headband), tie a caterpillar cord with bumps at the ends and attach it to a flower.

Track cord:

Crochet a chain of 2 air loops.

Crochet gloves-mitts:

Knit with YarnArt “Summer” yarn.

Mittens consist of knitted rings connected to each other during the knitting process.
Close the ring with 14 chain stitches, tie the ring with 30 st/bn.

You can knit gloves without breaking the thread to the desired length and required wrist girth, moving to the next row using connecting posts. Rows are knitted in a checkerboard pattern.

For the hole under thumb Do not knit one ring in the penultimate row. Knit gloves to the desired length. I got 6 circles around the circumference of my arm and 6 circles in height. Sew a snowflake to the glove.

The New Year's costume “Snow Queen” for a girl is ready!

There are many church sacraments, and baptism is one of the main ones among them. It is on the day of christening that a person is born for the second time; this process is also called spiritual rebirth.

People are baptized at any age, but Orthodox parents often care about the soul of their child and perform the ceremony in infancy.

It is necessary to carefully prepare for the ceremony and think through every detail. You will be warned about all the necessary items in advance at the church when registering.

As a rule, everything you need can be bought there: crosses, icons, baptismal belts - the sets of items vary somewhat in different churches. An important decision for parents of a baby: clothes for the “new” Orthodox.

How to choose an outfit

The choice should be based on the temperature in the room where the christening is held. Young children react sharply to temperature changes, especially after contact with water.

The cute model is complemented by a headband and elegant booties.

It is best to take a few warm clothes and a blanket with you.

Before baptism, the girl is dressed in ordinary clothes, and afterward, a beautiful dress or shirt is traditionally worn. white. It is designed to reflect the purity of the child’s soul.

Modern parents often choose original colors of clothes for elegant dress– delicate peach, pink, beige.

Clothes for christenings are chosen either by the parents themselves or by the godparents - there are no fundamental instructions on this from the church. You should not choose too elegant clothes, despite the significance of the event.

Lightweight model for baptism on hot summer days

Orthodoxy is restraint and humility; a large number of ruffles and prints on clothes for a girl at a christening are simply inappropriate.

After baptism, wearing a dress is possible only if the child is sick; according to legend, it will have a healing effect.

Parents are traditionally prohibited from being in the room where the ceremony is taking place. But in modern times this tradition is rarely observed. For adults accompanying the baby, the dress code is no different from the usual one for attending church. Appropriate only in the most chaste version.

Women must have their heads covered, long skirt or a dress - nothing frilly or revealing. Definitely not suitable for a deep neckline. Men are required to wear trousers, even in hot weather.

The main thing for the godparents and relatives of the baby is to be in a peaceful state of mind when coming to this bright ceremony. Leave all worldly thoughts and worries and rejoice in the spiritual rebirth of your daughter.

Democratic brands, the choice of which is huge, will allow you to save your budget. Pay attention, for example, to or H&M. For socialites, I can recommend - girls whose name and clothes I know all over the world.

Dress and cap decorated with voluminous roses

DIY baptismal robe and crochet

You can buy a christening dress or create it yourself. The second option is better for many reasons.

A hand-knitted item will be unique, carry the warmth of your hands and emphasize the significance of the event.

If you have been invited to a wedding ceremony with your child and need to find one, then a baptismal style of clothing would be quite appropriate. Knit two dresses at once - one for baptism and the second for going out with your princess.

Knitting materials

The skin of babies and children under one year old is extremely sensitive to synthetics; for this reason, knitting threads should be either cotton or acrylic.

An airy look for the tiniest princesses

An excellent option is Violett or acrylic yarn, which is most often used for knitting children's dresses. The main thing is that the thread is soft and allows the skin to breathe.

Preferred hook numbers are 2.3. Don't take too much large hooks– the product will not hold its shape well. Hooks that are too small can cause the item to be too stiff.

Video

This video will tell you how to sew a baptismal dress with your own hands.

A christening dress for small children is knitted quite quickly, considering the size and complexity of the work. Choose a model so that it can be easily taken off and put on during the ceremony: that is, the dress should have a wide neck and comfortable fasteners.

In some churches, the priests themselves put on the baptismal dress after bathing; he simply will not have time to tinker with the complex design of the clothing.
