There are so many options for bookmarks you can make with your children using the origami technique! Needless to say, the child does not open the book at all and does not read anything. It’s worth stocking up on a few wonderful bookmarks and placing them one by one in your favorite book or school textbook. Believe me, the child will always be interested in opening it and seeing what’s inside. And at the same time, he will quickly find the right page (the one on which he finished reading last time) and will definitely read something. In general, we assure you that a paper bookmark is not only interesting to make, but also a useful craft.

This master class tells you how to make a popular pencil paper figurine using the origami technique, which is perfect as a bookmark. Use any bright shades and experiment.

What you will need to create an origami pencil bookmark:

  • a strip of colored paper (a sheet of A4 or other format cut lengthwise);
  • perhaps a little glue to hold the ends of the craft together after folding, or you can do without it.

How to make an origami pencil:

If you cut a sheet of A4 paper lengthwise and take one half, you will get a strip of suitable size for creating a craft. The reverse side of the leaf must be white, i.e. the paper must be one-sided.

Turn the sheet of paper with the white side facing you and fold the paper across, leaving the edge about 1 cm or so. This will show the back of the yellow side of the paper.

Turn the workpiece again with the yellow side facing you. In the place where the fold was, find the middle and, leaning on this point, fold the upper corners into a house, as seen in the photo. A yellow stripe should be visible in the middle.

Next, based on the same middle point, bend the upper (already beveled) corners again to highlight a sharper spire, the tip of which will be colored. This will be the future lead of our pencil. And in color it will be the same as the paper we chose.

Turn the workpiece with the white side facing you.

Fold the paper in the middle, lifting the bottom end of the sheet up and showing the colored side. Do not bring the edge of the paper 1-2 cm to the sharp tip of the pencil.

Rotate the workpiece again. Fold the right and left sides lengthwise.

The bookmark pencil is ready. All that remains is to properly iron (smooth) the folded sides or even glue them neatly if the paper is thick and coming apart.

Parents instill a love of reading in their children in a variety of ways. Some force them to open the book, promising them candy in return, others say that if the child does not study, he will only be able to work as a janitor. The methods are different, and each has its pros and cons. But what all children love to do is close the thick Talmud they were reading. In order for your child to love opening a book, you can offer him to make a beautiful pencil bookmark from colored paper. Or any other option, for example a bookmark in the form of a cartoon character. How to do this, read below.

Pencil

This craft is assembled according to the origami principle. With skill, a pencil bookmark made of colored paper can be folded in just 10 minutes. To make it you will need colored paper. Moreover, you need to take a sheet that is tinted on only one side, and the other side should be white. A pencil bookmark template made from colored paper can be seen above. Actions must be performed one after another, in strict accordance with the scheme.

You should take the paper prepared in advance and fold it 1 cm. Now we turn the sheet over and bend its upper corners towards the center. We repeat the last step again. Turn the workpiece over and lift the bottom edge up. Let's turn the work around again. Now you should bend the right and left edges towards the center. We put the right corner into the pocket that was formed on the left side. The colored paper pencil bookmark is ready.

Cats

Even a child can create such a craft. While children might have difficulty making a pencil bookmark from colored paper, even a child can create a cat, and without the participation of adults. To make this craft you will need a rectangle cut out of colored paper. We cut a zigzag on the upper edge of the workpiece. These will be the ears. Now in the middle of the rectangle you need to draw two ovals. You should outline them with a black marker. Use a thick felt-tip pen to draw a funny face for the cat. The ears can be painted with any other color. The bookmark is almost ready. Using a stationery knife or thin nail scissors, you need to make slits along the contour of the paws.

funny monster

This origami craft will bring a smile not only to the child, but also to his parents. How to make a funny monster? To do this you will need to take a square cut out of colored paper. In this case, the workpiece must be tinted on both sides. Let's get started. The first step is to fold the square diagonally. Now we bend the right and left corners downwards. The next step is to bend the corners to the center to create a kind of pocket. Now, from any other sheet that differs in color from the workpiece, you should cut a square. You need to insert it into the resulting pocket - this will be the tongue. You need to cut out a strip of triangles from white paper - these are teeth. All that remains is to glue the eyes to the blank, and the monster is ready.

Toothless

How to make a paper bookmark in the shape of your favorite cartoon character? Very simple. We will make the basis for the bookmark according to the same principle that we used to fold the pocket in the paragraph above. It is advisable to use black paper for this purpose. When the base is ready, you should cut out a decorative overlay, which will consist of the following parts: a large circle, two semicircles, two large ovals, 4 smaller ovals and 2 small horns. We assemble Toothless in the required sequence, focusing on the picture. If you want your bookmark to have the same gray border, then all the parts will need to be duplicated twice and glued to each other. All that remains is to make Toothless’s muzzle and claws. To do this, you need to cut out two circles from yellow and black paper, and 8 ovals from white paper. Glue the eyes and claws in place. The bookmark is ready, enjoy reading.

How to choose pencils. Advice for parents.
The color of a pencil depends on the color pigment added to the lead during production. These pigments may contain heavy metal salts. To protect your child’s body from cadmium or lead, pay close attention to the packaging. Look for the letters CE on it, which confirm that the pencils meet European quality standards and have passed all safety tests. Correct pencils are made from softwood, and they smell like wood, not solvents.
Estimate the diameter of the lead. It is desirable that it be 3 millimeters. This indicates that the lead is well centered and resistant to stress. There are two types of stylus. Waxes may contain harmful organic solvents. Water-soluble leads are safer. You can understand which copy is in front of you by wetting a sheet of paper with water and drawing a line on it. The wax pencil will leave a barely noticeable mark. Water soluble – a clear line.
High-quality pencils undergo seven-layer coloring. Therefore, the seam from gluing wood is not noticeable on them. Advice for young parents! It is better to give triangular pencils to children under three years of age. They develop fine motor skills of the fingers well.

Stages of completing the craft:
This master class presents the idea of making a pencil using the Origami technique.
1. The pencil is made from single-sided colored paper. Take a sheet of colored paper. Fold it in half lengthwise and cut along the marked line.

2. Fold the edge of the rectangle about 1 cm.

3. Turn the workpiece right side out.

4. Fold the workpiece, right side inward, in half lengthwise.

5. Expand. Bend the extreme corners to the intended line according to the principle of making an airplane.

6. Turn the workpiece wrong side out.

7. Fold the workpiece in half widthwise, leaving a white triangular sheet.

8. Turn the workpiece again.

9. Bend the bottom edge of the workpiece, directing it towards the middle.

10. Do the same with the top edge.

11. Connect the valves to each other by inserting the corners into the resulting pocket.

12. “Sharpen” the pencil by bending the edges of the white canvas towards the middle. For strength, connect the valves with a drop of glue.

13. So, the blue pencil is ready.

14. These pencils can be used instead of bookmarks.
But we moved on. They were connected to each other using glue.

15. Added small paper flowers and leaves. And now, the collective panel of paper pencils is ready.

Thank you for your attention! We will be glad that our idea is useful.

The beginning of the school year is approaching and on this occasion I was preparing material for children on making such bookmarks. The idea is not new, even the SM has MK. I did it based on pictures from some Japanese site. So I had to draw the diagram myself. I'm posting my bookmarks because I just decided to show off :)

The diagram is described in detail, so that the child can understand it.
1. Prepare a rectangle with overall dimensions 85x210 (Fig. 1a) - the size can actually be any depending on what you want the final size of the bookmark to be.
2. Bend the rectangle in half lengthwise and unfold (Fig. 1b)
3. Bend down the top strip (Fig. 1c, d).
4. Turn the workpiece over to the reverse side and bend the upper side corners to the middle line (Fig. 1d)
5. Bend again along the intended fold lines (Fig. 1e, g)
6. Turn the workpiece over to the reverse side and bend the rectangle as shown in the diagram (Fig. 1h, i). The height and width of the pencil will depend on how high you bend the rectangle.
7. Once again turn the workpiece over to the reverse side and bend the sides, focusing on the fold lines passing through points A and B (Fig. 1k)
8. Insert one side part into the pocket of the other (Fig. 1l). The top edge can be glued.
9. The bookmark is ready (Fig. 1m)
