Tools and materials for work

To make pom-poms, the main material and tools are paper: corrugated, paper, crepe, napkins. There are several basic ways to make paper balls, in which the tools may differ. For example, some crafts may use a hole punch, stapler, or other device. Parts of the product can be secured with thread or glue; in some crafts it is better to use several tools at once.

Styrofoam and even a trash bag can be useful for crafts. Must be used:

1. scissors;
2. glue;
3. cardboard/paper;
4. pen or felt-tip pen.

Corrugated paper pom-poms

Corrugated paper is often used to create decorations in the form of paper balls. To make a pompom from corrugated paper, you will need the following tools:

• roll corrugated paper(creped);
• scissors;
• pencil;
• ruler.

When choosing a material, you need to pay attention to its size. It is best to buy a standard one, 50 cm wide. A regular roll is 2.5 m long. Step-by-step instruction:

1. Work should begin by finding the middle of the roll, a line is drawn there. The roll must be cut along this line.
2. Each of the two pieces must be divided into even smaller pieces of size: 25x40 or 25x50. You will get 6 or 5 pieces of paper.
3. All rectangles are stacked on top of each other, with the short side facing the master.
4. You need to fold the blanks like an accordion with the short side. Then you need to find the middle of the folded stack and make a mark with a pencil.
5. At this point the sheets are tied with thread or ribbon. In this case, one end of the thread remains long.
6. The next stage of working on pom-poms is design and giving them the desired shape and splendor. On the folded paper at the top you need to draw curves that resemble a flower petal, and then cut them off.
7. The same must be done with the other side.
8. There comes a time when the pompom itself is created. First you need to unscrew one side like a fan, and then the other.
9. It is necessary to carefully and carefully straighten each layer so as not to tear the leaves.

For a special event, paper pompoms are made by hand as decoration. Based on them, you can make now popular full-size numbers for children’s birthdays: cut out the corresponding number from foam plastic and wrap it in ready-made pom-poms, placing them evenly over the entire area. To make paper balls you will need the following tools:

• corrugated paper;
• thin cardboard (2 sheets);
• multi-colored markers;
• glue;
• scissors;
• thread and needle.

Having prepared everything you need, you can proceed to making crafts. For convenience and clarity, it is proposed step-by-step instruction:

1. First you need to fold a sheet of cardboard in half, and draw a semicircle on one side so that it fits the fold. The larger the semicircle, the larger the pompom.
2. Cut out a circle and cut it in half.
3. Cut off the excess part to the width of the corrugated paper.
4. On the second cardboard, draw lines with two different felt-tip pens (for example, red and blue). At the same time, they should be longer than the width of the paper so that the tails stick out from the top and bottom.
5. Lubricate the blanks with red marks with glue and glue the first sheet of corrugated paper to them.
6. Apply glue to the glued paper in places where there are blue stripes and attach the next sheet.
7. Continue gluing the sheets alternately to different lines.
8. You need to put a cardboard semicircle on a stack of corrugated paper and cut it along its contour, and then stick the cardboard (hemisphere) on the first and last sheets.
9. In one corner of the craft you need to make a hole with a needle and fix everything in this place, at the same time leaving a loop so that the ball can be hung somewhere.
10. Taking the ball by the cardboard edges, you need to carefully unfold it so as not to tear the thin paper.
11. At the end, you need to glue the cardboard together, and the beautiful festive ball is ready.

How to make paper pompoms in silence

To make the pompoms light, graceful and airy, it is better to use soft paper. The technique of working with it is different in that it requires special skill and accuracy so as not to tear or spoil thin sheets. For this craft you will need the following materials and tools:

• paper in silence;
• scissors;
• rope, cord, wire or wire;
• fishing line or thread for hanging;
• folding sheet (special brush for working with folds) – preferable.

The painstaking work will not take too much time, but it will require skill, patience and accuracy. The process consists of several stages:

1. Place the paper in a stack on top of each other: the more sheets, the more magnificent the craft (the optimal number is 10).
2. The entire stack needs to be bent like an accordion so that each turn (side) is approximately 2-3 cm. Iron each fold with a folding blade (you can use a ruler or work by hand).
3. The tip of each side needs to be rounded with scissors (cut off the excess). Alternatively, you can make the edges sharp, which will slightly change the final appearance of the finished pompom.
4. Find the middle and tie it tightly with a rope, ribbon, cord or any similar object you have.
5. You need to carefully bend all the petals of the pompom flower - first on one side, and then on the other. This is the most painstaking and careful work: it is important not to tear a single petal.
6. Attach ribbon, braid or rope for hanging.
7. You can finally fluff and shape the pompom only when it is already hanging in its place.

Master class on making balls from crepe paper

A very thin but durable material is crepe paper. It is very convenient to make pompoms and other decorative elements from it, because it does not tear due to accidental movement, and at the same time lends itself perfectly to shaping. To create a pompom from such material you will need the following tools:

• crepe (tissue) paper;
• wire, stapler or thread;
• ruler;
• pencil;
• scissors;
• ribbon, braid or rope (to hang the finished craft).

The work should start like this - determine what size the pom-pom should be: what is the width of the sheet, so will the diameter of the pom-pom. As an example, step-by-step instructions for the craft will be presented: pompoms from crepe paper created from 8 sheets:

1. Place 8 sheets of paper in a stack and bend them like an accordion so that the width of the strip is 2 cm.
2. Using a ruler, you need to find the middle of the workpiece and bend it in this place.
3. Tie the folded area with wire or rope very tightly so that the sheets do not fall apart.
4. The edges of the workpiece need to be trimmed so that they become pointed.
5. At the end of the work, you need to carefully straighten all the edges, you will get an elegant flower with triangular edges. If you take different colored paper, then you can get a motley pompom.
6. Another way to use it is to straighten the edges on only one side and leave the other side alone, which will give the appearance of a bouquet that can be used to decorate a holiday table or put in a decorative vase on a shelf.

Step-by-step instructions for making pompoms from napkins

Regular napkins that are placed on the table to wipe your hands can be an excellent material for creating pompoms. They are thin, pliable, soft, so the decoration will turn out elegant and elegant. How to decorate a hall with voluminous garlands

The point is this: you need to do it volumetric figures made of paper, which are then strung at some distance from each other on threads, fishing lines or thin ribbons. Such garlands hanging from the ceiling will greatly decorate a music or assembly hall.

Here is my example - pigeons in the clouds: I print out a diagram of a paper dove (by the way). For one garland we need two such birds. Cut out and fold along the folds, looking at the drawing in the right corner.

We will alternate pigeons with paper clouds like these. I don’t give you a diagram - we randomly cut out identical parts from 2 sheets of A4 format, bend them and fasten them in the center with a stapler. In a large figure, I cut out a small detail inside. This will also be a small cloud.

All! All that remains is to assemble our voluminous garland onto a string! I did this with a needle, securing the parts simply with a “step back” seam so that they would not roll down.

How do you like my pigeons in the clouds? By the way, these garlands spin very beautifully from any air movement. In the diagram the dove has legs, but we don't need it to stand on the table, I just made a curve at the bottom.

Cardboard letters

The inscriptions on the back of the stage are a weak point almost always and everywhere. The letters are poorly painted, the letter spacing is not maintained, and everything, as a rule, looks unprofessional.

If possible, it is better not to do this at all :-). But there are times when inscriptions or numbers are required. For example, a school anniversary.

I suggest decorating large cardboard letters with small flowers from colored napkins. The work is painstaking, but the effect is quite interesting.

The napkins are the most ordinary, small ones. You need 2 napkins for one flower. Place them folded one on top of the other, draw a circle using a saucer, and cut them out. We fasten it in the center with a stapler. What to do next can be seen in the picture. We fix the resulting flowers with glue on a cardboard blank with numbers or letters.

Wall decorations

The picture on the left shows charming flowers with voluminous petals. Cut out the hearts, fold them in half, and glue one side. We made them quite large - one petal was made from half a landscape sheet. A noticeable decoration, no doubt about it! We attached them to strips of plain blue wallpaper and decorated the backdrop of the stage.

The right picture shows a “musical” wreath made from photocopies of music pages. The rolls are easy to roll and the results are amazing!

Hello everyone! Another master class on the ShkolaLa blog! Today we will make large paper balls, the same ones that are used as a festive design at various parties.

It all starts with preparation.

To make a pompom we will need:

• a roll of corrugated paper, also called crepe paper;
• scissors;
• pencil;
• ruler.

Standard size paper. Its width is 50 cm and its length is 2.5 meters.

We take a roll and use a ruler to determine where its middle is. Draw a line in this place with a pencil.

Without unwinding the roll, use scissors to cut it into two equal parts. There was one long roll, but now there are two short ones.

Then the rolls still need to be unrolled and cut into identical rectangles. You can make rectangles measuring 25cm X 50cm, then each roll will produce 5 rectangles. We made 25 X 40, and we got 6 pieces each.

The larger the rectangles, the more voluminous the pompom will be.

Then the rectangles need to be folded in a neat stack, on top of each other.

Since our paper always wanted to curl back into tubes, we pressed it with scissors on one side and a ruler on the other to take a photo. And, if you noticed, a ball of thread appeared in the photo! It should have been mentioned at the very beginning, during the preparation process. But we remembered that it is needed only now and immediately declare it. Instead of threads, you can take a beautiful ribbon. But we didn’t have it and we made do with threads.

Then we turn the stack of sheets on one of the short sides towards us and begin to fold the sheets into an accordion.

It should look something like this.

Using a ruler, we determine where the middle of our corrugated accordion is and make a mark with a pencil.

We take a thread and tightly tie our accordion in the middle. One end of the thread should remain long.

Now let's start decorating the ends of our pompom. We will trim them a little and round them off so that the pompom looks like a flower. The photo shows which trajectory we will use to cut.

First, cut off one corner.

Then another. Well, we've sorted out one end. We do the same with others.

First, we unfold one side in the form of a fan.

Very carefully, so as not to tear, grab the first layer of paper and lift it.

Then the second one.

Well, then the third, fourth, fifth and sixth too. It's already beautiful!

We turn our “fan” over to the other side and fluff out the remaining six layers of paper. Only at the same time we try not to crush those that have already been issued.

It turns out like this. Very similar to a bridal bouquet. If you make half a pom-pom out of white paper and decorate the handle in green, it will look exactly the same. But now we have a different task, we are making not a white bouquet, but a pink pom-pom. Therefore, using the same principle, we fluff the other end of our accordion.

And we get such beauty! We adjusted it a little with our hands so that the pompom took the shape of a ball. Then we decided to experiment and make another smaller pompom from the remnants of yellow corrugated paper that Tema found in the closet with all sorts of creative things. That’s what we call it – a creative locker. We have paints there, plasticine, glue and colored paper too. In principle, it worked.

And now we know that it is possible to make a small pompom, but it is much more difficult than a large one. And in this yellow small ball, we ended up with not 12 layers of paper, like in the big one, but only 8, and that’s where the paper ended.

We hung these two pompoms on the chandelier in the children's room. And it immediately became more fun there! Well, holidays are coming soon in our family. First it’s my birthday, then our beloved grandmother’s. And now we know exactly how to decorate the premises so that it is elegant and beautiful.

But if we had a lot more of this paper, we would try to make the same beautiful flower as in the video below. Very beautiful! And the manufacturing principle is similar to pompoms.

1. How to make a New Year's ball out of paper

- colored paper (to create balls, you can use other paper, including corrugated paper);

- ruler;

- scissors;

- a stationery stapler (although you can do without it);

- glue stick or double-sided thin tape.

As already mentioned, you can use any paper to create the ball, as long as it is not very thick. You can take colored paper that has one color - due to the fact that such paper has one side colored and the other white, you get a wonderful effect. One of the most economical options is colored note paper (which we used as an example), since a whole pack of this paper is enough to decorate not only the Christmas tree, but the whole house with balls.

To do New Year's ball you need to take 12 pieces of paper (3 different colors - 4 pieces for each color) and put them in one pile. You can use different numbers of paper blanks, both more and less - the splendor of the ball depends on this quantity.

Then you need to take any item that has round shape(we used a glass) and trace it along the contour, drawing a circle on the top sheet.

Take the entire stack of paper and scissors, carefully cut out circles from the paper (you don’t have to cut the entire stack at once, especially if it is too thick, but divide it into smaller stacks to make cutting convenient and possible).

We fasten our circles strictly along the fold line with a stapler (if there is none, then they can simply be sewn, that is, fastened with threads).

We draw an additional template on a sheet of A4 paper, which will be needed in order to glue the circles in the right place. We apply markings, dividing the semicircle into approximately three equal parts, mark 1/3 at the bottom and top, as shown in the image, and draw straight lines, aligning the ruler with the marked points and the center of the circle.

Next, we apply the ruler, aligning it with the line until the glue is applied to only the required area, and apply the glue with an adhesive pencil to the upper sector, which is limited by the ruler. (Glue can be applied pointwise in the place where the arrow shows 1/3 or glued with a small piece of double-sided tape).

We turn the page of our round book over, gluing it, move the ruler to the lower sector and repeat the procedure again.

So, gluing the sheets alternately, first from the top, then from the bottom, we are gradually approaching the moment when only two parts remain to be brought together, unfolding our “book” into a beautiful festive ball of paper. Before the last step, when you unfold the craft into a ball, we advise you to glue a beautiful thread inside the ball, on which our decoration will later be hung on a Christmas tree or other things.

That's how easy it is to make a New Year's ball out of paper.

2. How to make a magic origami ball

This ball, when folded neatly and correctly, bends beautifully on both sides.

This ball resembles a little kusudami, but unlike it, it is created from one sheet of paper. To assemble such a model will require a lot of patience, since you will need to create a large number of neat folds (several hundred). But the result is worth it, since you will create interesting toy, which will appeal to everyone without exception, both children and adults.
