Weaving existed in ancient times; almost the first people practiced it. However, over time, more and more new methods appeared that made it possible to create incredible crafts. However, in the near past, handicraft masters began to use unusual material, who opened a new movement - weaving paper crafts.

The best part is that for this type of needlework you don’t need to spend money at all, since necessary materials can be found at home: old magazines and newspapers, used or new paper A4 format and even candy wrappers will be used. Just follow the tips in this article and in just a few hours you can make a basket, box and other paper products.

Basics and step-by-step master class on weaving paper tubes

What paper should I use for weaving?

First of all, we suggest you pay attention to old newspapers; the density of such paper is very small, which makes it easy to roll them into tubes or cut them into ribbons and only then use them for weaving. Magazine sheets are very thick and often glossy, this will complicate the work, but at the same time the craft will be stronger.

An unusual type of paper is cash register tape; it is easy to use, as it is soft and strong. In addition, it is very easy to repaint it in a different color, as well as twist it into identical and even tubes.

A4 office sheets are also suitable, although they are quite thick and rough. The big advantage of this material is that it comes in different colors, which means that you don’t have to additionally paint it in the desired color.

Basic methods of weaving paper crafts

There are two main options for weaving, for example, such crafts as: basket, box and piggy bank - made from paper vine or small strips. To create a vine, just roll a newspaper into a thin and dense tube. More complex crafts, in the form of snakes or abstractions, are still better made from strips.

In addition to cellulose materials, you need to prepare a few additional tools, such as: wooden or iron knitting needles, some glue, scissors, a long ruler, a simple pencil and clothespins.

How to prepare tubes for products?

As we mentioned earlier, before you start weaving, you need to prepare several tubular blanks. Get started using newspaper sheets, they make the simplest paper vine. Be sure to lubricate the ends with glue so that the tube does not unwind.

Use a thin knitting needle for the base; wrap a paper strip about 9 centimeters wide around it. This way, each piece will be as thin as possible and similar to each other. Try to pull everything as tightly as possible, do not forget to lubricate the edges of the vine. Immediately after finishing twisting, pull out the knitting needle, otherwise it will stick.

How to prepare strips of paper?

You can make crafts with your own hands not only from tubes, but also from strips. It is necessary to prepare strips up to 15 mm thick - if they are magazines, and up to 30 mm - if they are newspapers, but be sure to fold them in half.

Did you get short strips? No problem, just glue them together, then you won’t have to add new pieces while weaving.

The first work will not be straight, but in the future this can be easily corrected with a ruler. Measure and cut all ribbons to the same width and with sharp scissors so that there are even edges.

Step-by-step process of weaving a basket from paper tubes

You already know how to create tubes for weaving; prepare 10 of them. Try to make them as long as possible, you can even combine several pieces into one, you can always cut off the excess.

To create the bottom, place four tubes, and three more on top of them, after which the bottom one begins to braid everything in a circle. When everything is fastened with one skein, start the second, but first straighten all the vines into separate rays. Continue wrapping, you need to make another 4-5 turns so that the bottom is flat and strong. From this moment, start bending all the rays to the top; for convenience, place the workpiece on a jar or flower pot and braid it.

To finish the basket, fold the edges inward and make a loop to connect to the adjacent tube.

The basket is almost ready, all that remains is to build a handle; it is made separately and then glued to the basket or sewn with thread. For the handle you need four vines, two lie parallel, and the other two intertwine them.

We weave a basket, but from strips

As in the previous version, you need to make blanks. For one side you will need 8 strips 32 cm long and 2 cm wide. In total, you have 16 strips on both sides, it is advisable to make 8 of one color and 8 of another, this will make the basket more beautiful and easier to weave.

Intertwine all the strips so that you have a square in the center. The loose and outer strips must be lifted up and weaving continued. To keep the sides in place, secure the sides with a clothespin or paper clip, as shown in the photo.

You have small pieces of loose strips left on top, cut off the excess and make them the same length, then all that remains is to bend the flat branches and glue them with glue.

Paper bookmarks woven from strips

We suggest combining business with pleasure and making unusual bookmarks for your child; by the way, the children themselves can help you. The work is quite simple, follow the step-by-step photo tutorial.

You need to prepare two, preferably colored, strips of paper 1 cm wide and fold them in half, but at an angle of about 45 degrees. Connect the folded corners, but so that they do not touch the edge of the strip on the opposite side. The beginning has been made, all that remains is to repeat the weaving.

Perhaps something didn’t work out for you the first time, try again, experiment with colors and soon you will get an excellent bookmark for your favorite book.

Paper vine potty shoe

First of all, decide on the size of the shoe sole. The base is made of thick cardboard, and to secure the paper tubes, make holes along the edges using an awl. The distance between the holes is about 1.5-2 cm.

Insert the prepared material into the prepared holes. paper vine and secure them with glue. In our case, about 20-30 tubes were needed.

Chocolates are a favorite treat for many children and adults. They look especially festive in a decorative basket. Its production will not require much cost or your time. And such creativity will also bring peace and pleasure from the result obtained.

How to make a paper basket - step by step steps

  • Take a sheet of colored paper and fold it in half. Cut along the folded part. You need to make six such blanks. Fold each piece in small strips in any direction to form an accordion. Make six of these pieces.

  • Corrugated circle. Insert and secure each accordion piece to the end of the previous one, repeating this process for all six pieces. Insert the two ends (first and last) into each other to form a circle.

  • The basis of the basket. Take cardboard and cut a circle out of it. Make a circle from a sheet of colored paper using a cardboard template. It should be 2 mm larger than the sample. Make small cuts along the contour of the colored circle. Place the cardboard on a round sheet and use the cut out pieces to cover the back of the cardboard.

  • Close the bottom of the walls. Attach the corrugated walls to the cut out circle.

  • Fix the handle on the walls. To make the handle of the basket, use a thin strip of cardboard with a diameter of 2 cm. Cut two colored paper strips with a diameter of 4 cm. Glue the cardboard on the inside of one of them, then cover with the second strip. Using glue, attach the handle to both sides of the basket.

  • Handle decor with flowers. Now prepare decorative flowers to decorate the handle and bottom of the basket. Using a ruler, measure 4.5 x 4.5 cm on a piece of white paper and cut it out. Similarly, measure the size 5.5 x 5.5 cm and cut the paper sheet. Prepare nine smaller pieces and three larger pieces.

  • Make flowers in two sizes. Fold these pieces in half twice and then in a triangle shape and draw a leaf shape. Cut along this shape and open the folded pieces to create a paper flower. Insert them onto the handle of the basket, and large ones onto its base. Make paper flowers for the bottom of the basket in the same way.

  • Decorate the craft with pearls. Glue decorative pearls along the walls of the basket. Decorate the centers of paper flowers with gold pearls. Don’t forget to attach decorative pearls both on the outer and inner surfaces of the basket.

The basket is now ready for use. It is useful for storing many useful things. Such a souvenir will be a valuable gift at any event, because the soul and efforts of the master have been put into it.
Paper baskets are made in different techniques: origami, from newspaper tubes woven from strips of paper. One of them is presented in the following video.

What kind of crafts do you make for Easter using what you have at hand?

Easter basket

Alina Mishina prepared another work for the Easter competition, a master class on crafts for Easter.

To work you need:

  • cardboard,
  • PVA glue,
  • beads,
  • garden rope,
  • plasticine (in my case),
  • wire,
  • acrylic paints,
  • tassels,
  • napkins.

We cut the cardboard into circles so that in the end we get a plate. Glue it together.

We measure the wire according to the desired length and height to the plate. Wrap it with garden rope.

We secured the wire (this is our handle for the basket). Turn the plate over and remove any irregularities by gluing napkins. Glue a garden rope onto the glue on top.

We tear the garden rope into fibers to make straws for the basket. We drip glue on top so that the straw does not climb in different directions and stays in the basket.

We take plasticine, sculpt birds and eggs.

We paint plasticine with acrylic paints. The paints adhere well to plasticine.

We decorate the basket, and this is the result.

You can make a bright and unusual Easter egg stand from waste and scrap materials. You will need something that every housewife has on hand, for example, a plastic jar, lace or rope, small remnants of lace. You can decorate an egg with an elegant stand in no time, thereby attracting children to creativity. This master class by Elena Nikolaeva describes the work of decorating.

Materials for creating a bright stand:

  • plastic jar from baby food;
  • yellow or any other color clothesline;
  • pieces of lace;
  • glue gun;
  • scissors;
  • pieces of organza;
  • decorative button or cutout from a postcard;
  • green corrugated paper or sisal.

How to make a bright egg stand step by step

Pick up an empty plastic baby food jar. It is desirable that it ideally matches the size of the egg. For example, take a container of cottage cheese or yogurt. If its upper part is wide, then you can cut it with ordinary scissors or leave it unchanged as you wish. It is better not to use a glass container. For decoration, choose a regular clothesline in a bright color, such as yellow, or use a white version, cord or twine will do. Be sure to singe the ends of the rope.

You can remove or leave the label from the container; anyway, the top of the plastic will be decorated with a thick layer of clothesline. Using a glue gun, begin attaching the yellow rings around the circumference, pressing them against the plastic and also against each other. Be sure to apply a thick coating. Use the tip of the gun first to squeeze out the glue, then wind the rope, pulling it tight.

Cover the side walls of the jar with yellow rope and secure the ends at the top and bottom with the same glue.

You can paint the bottom with acrylic paint or decorate using pieces of organza or an old baby bow. Glue the petals to the bottom in the shape of a flower and attach a flat button or piece of lace, or a cutout from a postcard in the center will also work.

Turn the workpiece over with the hole facing up. The result is a bright basket-stand that stands on a delicate flower.

Take the lace in the shape of a tooth and attach it at the top, masking the cut part of the cap. Also prepare a strip of lace of a different color, for example green, with some interesting floral design. Focus on the circumference of the cylindrical container. Glue green lace to the side wall and secure the ends with glue. An interesting stand is ready. Additionally, you can use beads and beads on threads, rhinestones and other decoration elements.

Fill the inside with stripes of green corrugated paper or, if you have one, lush sisal. This will make a cozy nest for an Easter egg. Green color goes well with yellow and echoes the theme of the spring holiday.

Interesting Easter craft ready. She will decorate festive table and will remind you that spring is soon approaching.

Wicker baskets

I wanted to make egg cups for Easter, something quick, simple and inexpensive. And in addition, I have long wanted to try weaving baskets. And we just had leftovers of paper cord or twine (the one I made it from) lying around. And this is what happened in the end. You could try painting and/or varnishing, but I like it anyway (rustic style).

Since the goal was to simplify the process for beginners and children, in addition to the paper cord, we also needed cardboard circles and a needle.

Using a needle, an odd number of holes were pierced at the edge.

We cut several pieces of twine (more precisely: the number of holes minus one and in half :))

We threaded the pieces into holes opposite each other, and inserted the end of the cord from the skein into the last hole.

Eco-friendly stands made of natural material

Of course, the most natural and natural option is to weave mini-nests for eggs from twigs or grass.

By the way, you can make very delicate Easter wreaths from dried flowers and quail egg shells:

You can also decorate the eggs by simply tying them with a woolen or jute rope and sticking beautiful feathers into it.

Egg stand “Nest”

Master class by Tatiana Yablonskaya.

Spring is a time of holidays. Easter or the Resurrection of Christ is truly national. His traditions are respected by everyone, young and old. Housewives prepare delicious Easter cakes and... Everyone tries to decorate their home in accordance with the theme of the holiday. Original ideas a lot of. This master class will tell you the secrets of making an interesting stand for decorated eggs. The materials used are simple and finished work causes admiration.

To make such a stand you will need:
· hay or dry grass;
· twine;
· scissors;
· thick cardboard;
· artificial flowers;
· thermal gun and silicone rod;
· image of a chicken;
· White paper;

First, find dry grass or straw. This material can be purchased at your local pet store.

Fold the grass into a thin, long strip. Wrap it with twine along the entire length. You will get a blank like in the photo.

Connect it into a ring and secure everything with twine again.

Using the same principle, form another ring of dry grass.

Connect both rings together as shown in the photo below.

Then take a piece of thick cardboard, attach hay rings to it and draw a circle. Cut it out with scissors. Glue the rings onto the circle with hot silicone from a heat gun. It turns out to be a stand.

Decorate its bottom tightly with hay so that the cardboard is not visible.

Use any artificial flowers as decoration. Distribute them among the coils of dried grass.

Next, start making. Using a stencil, cut out the silhouette of a bird from white paper and glue it to the cardboard. Separately prepare 2 cardboard wing pieces. Cover them with white paper on both sides as well.

These are the blanks that should be obtained as a result of the work done. Next they need to be decorated. To do this, take paper napkin with a beautiful design.

Attach to details upper layer napkins and coat the top with PVA glue. After drying, the drawing is securely fixed on the cardboard surface.

Glue the wings to the body with a heat gun and secure the eyes. Use gouache to paint the scallop and beak.

After this, glue the chicken to the back wall of the hay stand.

This is what the finished work looks like.

This original stand will fit a lot.

The Easter eggs themselves can also be made using the decoupage technique, if you have wooden eggs and bright paper napkins on your farm.

This is what a stand filled with decorative eggs looks like.

Take this idea into consideration, you won’t regret it. And happy Easter to you!

Hello! In most cases, young children awaken in their parents the desire to come up with more and more new activities for them. If you have beautiful colored paper on hand, as well as some origami skills, you can try making a basket. Making such a paper craft is not difficult if you follow our master class. A DIY paper basket for children is quite practical; you can put a bouquet or sweets in it as a gift to your mother or grandmother.

Let me remind you that we have already made two versions of paper handbags, one of which was similar.

MasterClass

By the way, such a basket can be made for children for Easter. She can easily handle a small Easter cake and a couple of sweets. And the child will be delighted and proudly go to consecrate the contents of his personal basket.

To create such a basket we will prepare square sheet paper For such a craft, double-sided paper will look interesting.

First, we fold our multi-colored square diagonally.

Then fold the resulting triangle in half again.

We straighten the upper part of the resulting workpiece into a square.

WITH reverse side we do the same thing - give it the appearance of a square.

Now we place the blank for the future basket so that the open sides are directed downwards. After this, we bend the side of the top layer towards the middle.

We do the same on the other side.

The bent parts need to be straightened at the top.

We do the same on the reverse side.

Let's start forming the sides of the basket itself. To do this, bend the middle corner up.

After that, bend it down a little.

The bent part needs to be tucked inside. We repeat the same on the other side of the basket.

Now you need to bend one layer to the side, we do this from the top and bottom.

Then we bend the sides at the bottom towards the center. So we started making the basket handle.

Let's turn the future craft over to the other side. Here you need to bend all the layers at the bottom at the same time. This is required to connect the two parts of the handle of our basket.

After this, we make folds on the sides.

All that remains is to straighten the craft. If necessary, layers can be glued in some places.

Our paper basket is ready.

A child can use such a craft both for games and to store any small items in it - for example, girls can put away jewelry.

See you!
I look forward to your comments and questions.

Paper is a universal material. It can be used not only for office purposes, but also to make a large number of beautiful items for apartment decor. All the things made can not only be used as decoration, but also used for their intended purpose.

If you have a lot of unnecessary paper lying around at home, then it’s time to find a use for it and pass the time doing something interesting and creative. For example, you can make a basket with your own hands from paper. To realize this idea, you can use any paper, even newspapers or magazines. The future small basket can become beautiful and an original gift for someone dear to you.

DIY paper basket

To do this job you need:

  1. Any paper, newspapers and magazines can be used.
  2. Knitting needle or wooden skewer. Choose them as thick as you want the tubes of the future basket to be.
  3. An elastic band for clothes or money.
  4. Clothes pin.
  5. PVA glue.
  6. Scissors.
  7. Stationery knife.
  8. Brushes for glue and paints.
  9. Basis for weaving.
  10. Thick cardboard. If you don't have one, a regular candy box will do.
  11. Paint to give the product a more beautiful appearance.
  12. Weight to make the product more stable during the manufacturing process.
  13. Items that can be used to decorate the basket.

Cardboard option

If you have everything listed above, then you can safely start creating. The first step is to make as many paper tubes as possible, so as not to be distracted by twisting them in the future.

They can be done according to the following scheme:

When all the blanks are made, they can be painted and then dried. If you don’t want to wait, you can continue making the basket and paint the finished product.

Having prepared the tubes, you can start making the basket. First of all, you should clearly determine the dimensions of the future product.

Making the bottom of the basket

To make the bottom, you can choose one of two methods.

First way. It is the simplest and does not require much time. All you need is to cut out an oval or round bottom template from thick cardboard. After this, flatten the edge of the tube. Lubricate it with glue and attach it to the bottom. Do the same operation with all remaining blanks. In this case, you should evenly space them around the perimeter. Coat the second bottom with glue and connect it to the first. Make sure that the rays are between the two bottoms. For greater reliability, you can put a weight and wait for the product to dry. After this, you can bend the rays upward. Glue a tube from the inside to the bottom and weave the walls.

Second way. This option for making the bottom requires a little more time for weaving. We take four tubes and distribute them at a short distance from each other. This will be our first row. At the next stage, we take six tubes, place them in pairs and at right angles to the already prepared ones. They are placed in this order: under the first and above the second pair of rays in the first row we place two tubes. We place the next two tubes mirrored and side by side. We lay the remaining ones in exactly the same way as the first two. As a result, you will get a checkerboard pattern.

We describe a further explanation of the steps on how to make a paper basket with your own hands. We take another tube, fold it in half and put it on the already completed pair of rays. To avoid confusion, we recommend marking them with a felt-tip pen or marker. Next, we cross the tube and braid other pairs. Their working part is crossed after braiding each pair. Similarly, we bring the matter to the end of the second row.

If the tubes made are too short, then they need to be lengthened. To do this, take glue and lubricate the narrow tip with it. After this, insert the new tube into the working one. This way you can increase them to the desired size. As soon as two rows of the bottom are ready, you can start making a single working tube, two more.

The next step will be making the bottom edging. To do this, bend the marked first ray behind the next one and direct it to the middle, bend the second one behind the third. We continue like this until the end. We fix the remaining ray in the loop obtained from the first one.

To continue weaving, take the next tube, fold it into two parts and put it on the first ray. We make the fourth row in the same way as the third.

The fifth row will serve us for decoration. You can take beads or other decoration and put them on the odd rays. After this row you need to weave two more. If leftovers appear, they can be trimmed and tucked between the rows.

Making a pen

In order to make the handle of our basket, you need to separate three rays on each side and fasten them with clothespins. The remaining tubes are trimmed and glued to the edge of the product.

The handle of the future basket is woven as follows:

  1. We connect the tubes of both sides to get three of them.
  2. The working tube must be glued with PVA at the base of the handle, perpendicular to it.
  3. After this, we braid the handle with a working tube.

Before finishing the work, the basket is shaped and impregnated with glue. Then let it dry thoroughly. This operation will give greater strength to the finished product.

The last step will be painting the basket. You don't need any advice here. Everyone paints it in their favorite color and gives it the shade they like.

Now you know how to make a wicker basket out of paper and can easily repeat this process. I wish everyone good luck!
