Pamper your daughter's dolls with delicious felt donuts. They are sewn very easily and simply, but the result looks impressive. Let your daughter take part in choosing the “recipe” and decide for herself what dough to “bake” the donut from and what “glaze” to “glaze” it with. You don’t need a sewing machine for this, since you can sew felt crafts with your own hands.

So, in order to sew a felt donut you will need.

1. Felt or fleece (since this material is similar in properties) in two colors. The first one should be close to the color of the baked dough, for example, we took beige felt. We select the second color for the “glaze”; for us it is white fleece. You can also take, for example, dark brown and then the “glaze” will be “chocolate”.

2. Beads. Color, size and shape are at your discretion. We chose large round beads in green and red colors.

3. Filler. It can be holofiber like ours, or you can take padding polyester or cut padding polyester into small pieces.

4. Threads. Regular sewing in the color of the selected felt. You can also use colorless monofilament.

5. Scissors. For fabric and paper.

6. Needle. When choosing, consider the size of the beads so that the needle passes freely through the hole in it.

7. Cardboard (paper). To make a pattern.

8. Pencil, for convenience you can use a compass.

9. Chalk or fabric marker to transfer the pattern onto the fabric.

When everything is ready, start working.

On cardboard or paper, draw a circle with a diameter of 10 cm, and in the center another circle with a diameter of 2 cm. Cut it out. This turns out to be a ring like this. This is a donut pattern.

Using chalk, transfer the pattern onto beige felt.

Cut out this part. To cut out a small circle in the center, fold the piece in half and make a cut with scissors.

Then unfold the part again and cut further along the intended line.

You need to make two such parts. After that, fold them together and sew them together with an overcast stitch. First the inner cut.

Then start stitching the parts along the outer edges. Please note that if you use monofilament thread for stitching, then the thread itself is almost invisible, only traces of a needle puncture are noticeable, but if you use fleecy felt or fleece, the seam will be practically invisible at all.

You don’t need to sew it completely, as you need to leave a hole through which you will fill the donut with stuffing material. To make the donut look more appetizing, fill it quite tightly.

And only after this the hole can be sewn up.

The donut is almost ready. All that remains is to decorate it.

To make the “glaze” for the donut. On the same cardboard template, randomly draw curved lines imitating flowing “glaze”.

Cut out this template.

Transfer the outline of the template to felt or, as in our example, to white fleece, since these fabrics are in some cases interchangeable. Next, you need to cut out this part and randomly sew beads on it, this is an imitation of “confectionery sprinkles”.

Now sew the “icing” onto the donut itself.

All the treats for the doll are ready.

Felt is comfortable, practical and beautiful material for creativity. From it you can create the most various crafts. Today we will make crafts with you. It can be used as a pincushion, or as a toy for a child. It's easy to do. You won't need it for this sewing machine— it is sewn by hand.

Tools and materials:

  • felt in two colors
  • scissors
  • regular and thin bead needle
  • simple sewing threads
  • beads of different colors
  • padding polyester for filling the product

Note. Here we use light brown felt, which resembles a cake, and pink felt for icing. You can choose the color you or your child likes.

Progress

Draw two identical circles with a diameter of approximately 15 cm on light brown felt and inside each circle a circle with a diameter of 5 cm. You can use a compass for this or make one in advance patterns.

Cut out these blanks.

Draw one detail on the pink felt - the “icing” - and cut it out too.

Then, having placed the pink part (“glaze”) on top of the main light brown one, begin sewing it with a fine seam “forward with a needle.”

Hem the entire piece.

Now start decorating the “icing” with confectionery sprinkles. To do this, use a special thin needle to sew beads to the pink part of the product.

Once you have decorated the “icing”, place the two pieces of brown felt together, right sides facing out. Start stitching the inner circle.

And then move to the outer edge. While covering the donut, fill it with padding polyester at the same time. To ensure that the product is evenly filled with padding polyester, compact it with a pencil.

An appetizing felt donut is ready.

In the same way, you can make a lot of different goodies, for example, cupcakes, ice cream.

What do we need? First of all, you need to take felt the right colors and shades - dark beige, light beige and pink. Don't forget about needles and threads that match the color of the fabric. We also used orange and blue threads to make a “sprinkle” on the icing.

Cut out a donut pattern from paper. Print the template below in the size you need.

Using pins, attach the template to each piece of fabric in turn, trace it with chalk or pencil, and cut it out with scissors. As a result, we get three identical parts of different colors, this is the basis of our product.

Since the pink fabric is icing, trim the edges to create a flower shape. As a powder, you can sew pink fabric with threads of orange and blue color, or simply decorate with small beads.

We put it on top of the dark beige and carefully sew it with pink threads.

Take a beige thread and sew the beige part with the same stitch.

All we have to do is attach the light beige, this is one of the most difficult parts. First, we process the light fabric with the same stitch, then apply it to the finished workpiece. We fasten them with a light thread, it is important that the stitches match as much as possible. Below we have presented two pieces of fabric as an example and shown how they should be sewn. Using the same principle, we sew the inside and outside of the donut.

As we sew, we begin to fill the product with cotton wool. It is important that the cotton wool is distributed evenly throughout the donut. We secure the seam with a knot. Our product is ready!
