A crocheted ladybug is a very cute and creative product that you can use to please your family, children or friends. This wonderful craft can be used as a toy for a child, as a pillow, or simply as a souvenir. This handmade ladybug can be an excellent gift for your favorite people. After all, these are the most useful and good insects that will not leave anyone indifferent. This master class on crocheting ladybugs will help even novice needlewomen learn how to knit such a miracle and delight themselves and their loved ones.

Homemade pincushion

This cute pincushion is knitted using the single crochet technique.

Necessary materials for work:

  • red, black and white threads for knitting;
  • hook (must be the same thickness as the thread);
  • stuffing material (sintepon, cotton wool);
  • a piece of cardboard.

The ladybug belly knitting pattern is very easy. This part of the product is knitted with black threads. First, you need to close a chain of four air loops into a ring using connecting posts. Then you need to start working on knitting the head also with black threads. To do this, knit 8 single crochets under the chain loops in the first row. In the second row, make 16 single crochets. In the third and fourth rows there are 32 single crochets. In the fifth and sixth rows, knit 48 single crochets. The seventh and eighth rows include 72 single crochets.

Knit the back in the same pattern as the head, but with a different number of stitches. In the first row - 4 single crochets under the loops of the chain. The second row is knitted with 10 single crochets. The third row consists of 15 single crochets. The fourth row is 20 single crochets. Fifth, sixth and seventh - 25 single crochets.

The next stage is assembling all the parts of the cow. Cut a circle out of cardboard, the diameter is slightly smaller than the diameter of the body. Place this part on the knitted belly, and on top of the back and sew around the circumference. Don’t forget to stuff the pad with padding polyester. Knit ladybug paws (6 pieces in total) from air loops. Using black thread, embroider a stripe in the center of the back using a chain stitch. The head is also stuffed with cotton wool and sewn to the body. Eyes made of white thread and six black dots on the back are knitted like this: close a chain of five chain stitches into a ring using a connecting stitch and knit 15 double crochets under the loops of the chain. The black pupils on the eyes are embroidered using a knotted stitch. The pincushion is ready!

Knitted keychain

You can make a ladybug keychain in the same way.

For this craft you will also need black and white beads for eyes and dots, a needle with black thread and a base for a keychain.

At the beginning of work, you need to tie the top with a red thread along amigurumi pattern. Amigurumi is japanese art knitting soft animals. The knitting pattern and description looks like this:

Knit in a spiral, without joining at the top. Then knit the bottom, just like the top, with black thread from the first to the sixth row. Next, tie the belly and back together. Before finally connecting them, fill ladybug padding polyester.

Then knit a dividing strip of air loops in the amount of 18 pieces. Do not cut off the remaining thread; the sewn head will cover the joint. Knit a ladybug's head. Sew it to the belly with stitches. Sew beads as eyes and dots. At the end, thread the ring from the keychain. The Ladybug keychain is ready!

Bright potholder

For such a fun and positive craft, you need red and black yarn, a hook, thread, needle, glue and plastic eyes.

To get started, you need to start by knitting three air loops and closing them with a ring. In the same ring, knit 6 single crochets. At the end of the row, make a connecting post. The next row is 12 single crochets. Add six single crochets to each subsequent row. Tie the circle to the desired diameter. Then take a needle, insert it into the black yarn and sew a separate strip on the back with a “back needle” stitch.

Knit the head with black yarn in 8 single crochets, turn the craft over and knit the same number of single crochets. Tie the resulting blanks with black yarn. At the end of the row, make 10-15 air loops. Then knit black circles (spots on the wings). Sew six circles onto the back. Don't forget about gluing the sun's eyes.

Here's what happens:

Before we start talking about knitting ladybugs, let's ask the question, do you know why a ladybug is called a ladybug? Of course, there is no exact data, however, it is believed that the name of this cute bug was given by popular rumor. In appearance, these are very pleasant, touching, touching insects - that’s why, probably, by analogy with the phrase “man of God”, the adjective “God’s” appeared. With the word “bug” everything is also quite simple: at the slightest danger, the insect presses its paws and releases a drop of liquid, which should scare away potential and real enemies. Of course, neither in color nor in purpose can it be compared with milk, however, the analogy is still visible, and therefore the insect has become a “cow”. By the way, in many languages of the world it is called in a very similar way - for example, in Israel it is “Moses’s cow”, in England it is “the bird of the Virgin Mary”, in Germany it is “the bug of Our Lady”. In general, all this means that if the option is not close enough to you due to the not particularly close relationship with the specified instrument, you can think about connecting knitting ladybugs. The science is not difficult, and if you have the desire, you will definitely master it!

Progress of the lesson.

I really liked knitting these ladybugs: firstly, because the process takes very little time, and secondly, because it good way recycling of yarn residues.

But the main thing is that, despite their simplicity, ladybugs cause a lot of positive emotions when you look at them or hold them in your hands. They are soft, very pleasant to the touch, and fit well in the palm. You remember your carefree childhood.

Handmade ladybugs are wonderful, safe toys for children (not like Chinese ones).

Such toys can be used for activities with children. For example, using them to study colors or learn to count.

Line them up in a row and you get a train. Also, in the hands of children, ladybugs can crawl along paths, crawl from object to object along bridges, etc.

You can expand the “scope of application” of ladybugs like a magnet - by gluing a magnet to them, you can use it as a pincushion. Now it is a decoration for the refrigerator, a wonderful gift, and a more convenient educational material for children.

Our Master is Class!

Publications on the topic:

Good day, dear colleagues! I offer you a master class on making a Ladybug pincushion in the preparatory group.

I propose to make this “Ladybug” applique together with the children in kindergarten. The age of making the applique by children can be...

Since ancient times, it has been the custom that in central Russia, of all the beetles, only May beetles and ladybugs are loved. The first ones appear in public in May, which is why they are named after this spring month. But why the latter were given such a binding name, no one knows. Most likely, this is due to their interesting appearance, which to this day is played out in the design of many interiors, objects and materials.

It is recognizable to such an extent that it is enough to simply apply black circles on the red fabric, as anyone and everyone will say that these are ladybug motifs. Let's try to make something useful in everyday life in the form of a favorite insect.

In order to knit a pillow for a sofa in the shape of a ladybug, you will need 300 g of black yarn, 200 g of red yarn, a zipper, eyes, a needle and thread and a hook.

  1. Crochet a rope of 5 loops, close it into a ring and tie it with single crochets into a flat, even circle with a diameter equal to the length of the zipper. This will be the belly of our beetle.
  2. The back, knitted not in the round, but like a regular fabric back and forth, consists of two halves. They should be 1 cm larger in size than the bottom of the pillow.
  3. Tie the side to which the zipper will be sewn with two rows of black thread.
  4. Sew a zipper onto the knitting.
  5. Make a head for the beetle. The knitted turtle head resembles a small black hat and is knitted in the same way.
  6. We make spots, 6 black small circles.
  7. We knit 6 more small hats that will become the ladybug's paws.
  8. Sew the spots to the red wings with black thread.
  9. Sew the legs and head to the bottom of the pillow.
  10. Fill them with padding polyester and sew all the parts together.
  11. Pass a thread 80 cm long through your head and tie two chains from it. Fold them over and you will get small black mustaches.
  12. Glue on the eyes.
  13. Fill the pillow with something soft and close the zipper.
  14. The thought pillow is ready. By the way, it can be a great place to store stashes and secrets.

  • A small ladybug is crocheted in the same way as a pillow, only without the legs.

  • Having crocheted a flat black bottom with the thinnest hook, you need to continue knitting with a red thread, placing a circle cut out of cardboard or plastic inside.

  • Knit in the round, gradually decreasing the diameter. Place some foam inside before closing the top.

  • Embroider the knitting, decorating the back of the ladybug with black stripes and spots with your own hands. Tie the head, decorating it with eyes and antennae.

Knitting starts from the top of the product and then proceeds in a circle. We need to knit a little red riding hood and make ties for it. Then separately knit the black muzzle of the beetle, two white and two black circles for the eyes and four black spots-circles. All this needs to be sewn to the hat. Then you should knit one long and two short black chains with your own hands. These will be antennae and a strip between the wings, which also need to be sewn to the hat.
