For daughter on New Year I decided to make a Little Red Riding Hood costume. I collected some information on the internet. Maybe it will be useful to someone.

1. OPTION OF RED HIDING Hood

from a rectangular piece of fabric
We collect along the black stripes.
First, into the pipe, but not all the way, but a little, about 3-4 cm, depending on the hairstyle, because if there is a ponytail, then more needs to be sewn so that it fits, and if there is a haircut, then sew less. We collect the top of the head and make a large fold so that the lapel is tighter (this is if the cap is single), it would be good to glue it. Then we bend it along the fold, the hat is ready.
If desired, you can make ties.

2.

3. Fabric - medium weight cotton. I pecked the cap with doublerin + added a hair pad in one layer (it’s usually in men's jackets use) Quilted handbag with a layer of bulky padding. Height 12 cm, width of one side 8 cm. A wire is inserted along the top to maintain the shape of the handbag.

4. We take measurements like this: head circumference from crown to chin = take 3/4 = length of the upper part. Circle horizontally = take 1/4 = width of the upper part along the fold line. We make the bottom of any width, but not less than 1/3 of the OG. The height of the bottom is 5-10 centimeters higher than the fold line of the upper part. Gather or fold the top. At the bottom there is a drawstring with an elastic band. Calculations are approximate. You can make a lapel or sew lace along the edge of the cap. I made both the lapel and the lace. The upper part was made double with a fold along the edge, and the bottom was made single.

5. very simple pattern, hats, I made them according to her measurements. Her version was made of velvet on both sides, and since I had trouble with the fabric, I made a single layer.

RED HID COSTUME.(PATTERN)

Character: The bravest girl in Europe, known to us from the fairy tale of the same name by Charles Perot, distinguished by her love for her grandmother and intimate conversations.

Costume: Little Red Riding Hood, by and large, can be dressed in anything, as long as she has an identifying red headdress. We suggest dressing the girl in a white blouse, full skirt, a vest, an apron and, of course, a red cap.

A blouse can be easily sewn if a suitable one is not found in the girl’s wardrobe. To do this, you need to draw a blouse pattern on paper (see Fig. 6 “Drawing of Little Red Riding Hood’s Blouse”), and then transfer it to the fabric using a piece of soap or tailor’s chalk. Cut out the details of the blouse, not forgetting to add 1 cm to the seam allowances.

Rice. 6 Drawing of Little Red Riding Hood's blouse---------------Fig. 7. Drawing of Little Red Riding Hood’s vest, apron and skirt

Draw a skirt pattern on paper (see Fig. 7 Drawing of Little Red Riding Hood’s vest, apron and skirt”), and then transfer it to the fabric using a piece of soap or tailor’s chalk. Cut out the details of the skirt, not forgetting to add 1 cm to the seam allowances.

Sew the side seam of the skirt and overcast it. Fold the top of the skirt, leaving a gap for threading the elastic. Fold the bottom of the skirt. Thread the elastic into the waistband of the skirt.

The vest can be made from brown fabric or checkered fabric. Sew side and shoulder seams and overcast. Finish the edge of the neckline, sides, armholes and hem with a zigzag stitch. For more experienced seamstresses, we can offer processing with facings. If the fabric is loose enough, you can thread a ribbon between the threads of the fabric for lacing at the front. A regular satin ribbon 0.5 cm wide will do. The edges of the ribbon must be singed to prevent fraying. If the fabric is dense, then you can make loops in the places marked in the drawing (see Fig. 7 “Drawing of Little Red Riding Hood’s vest, apron and skirt”). Lace up the vest.

The apron is cut out of white fabric according to the drawing. To add elegance, you can sew a frill along the edge of the apron. This can be a ready-made lace ribbon or a strip cut from the same fabric as the apron itself. The tape should be 3.5-4 cm wide.

If this is a strip of fabric, then sew one side with a zigzag seam, pulling the edge. Place the raw edge of the ribbon on a thread and pull it so that the length of the assembled ribbon is equal to the length of the flying edge of the apron. Place the tape along the edge of the apron face to face and stitch. Overlock the seam. Iron the seam allowance towards the apron and sew a finishing securing stitch. Treat the top section of the apron with a 2 cm wide braid. To do this, fold the braid in half lengthwise, facing the outside, and iron it. Place the top cut of the apron between two layers of folded tape and stitch.

Rice. 8. Drawing of Little Red Riding Hood's headdress

The hat needs to be made, of course, from red fabric, although you can use a ready-made headdress in the costume, for example a red panama hat. To make it, draw the pattern from Fig. 8 “Drawing of Little Red Riding Hood” and transfer it to fabric, adding 1 cm on each side for seams. Cut out a frill from the same fabric (or you can use a ready-made lace ribbon), overcast one edge, gather along the other edge to a length equal to the length of the rounded part of the bottom. Sew the bottom of the hat to the back convex part of the base of the hat, at the same time inserting the frill. Fold the bottom edge of the cap or cover it with a 2 cm wide satin ribbon. To do this, fold the ribbon in half along the face outside and iron it. Place the cut between two layers of folded tape and stitch, leaving 25 cm of tape on each side for the ties.

Carnival costume of Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood's costume consists of five main parts: a skirt, a blouse, a bodice, an apron and, of course, a red riding hood.

You can choose a suitable blouse for a suit from your girl’s existing wardrobe in white, beige or light pink, or you can sew it yourself using the pattern below.

The skirt can also be chosen at random or sewn specially by yourself in the usual way(see pattern below)
Gives a suit special charm and the highlight is the corsage, which is not at all difficult to make; the main thing is to choose a suitable dense fabric of red or black color.

The apron is also very easy to sew; it can be made of smooth satin or openwork lace, it all depends on your unbridled imagination and the wishes of your child.

And, of course, the main detail carnival costume- red hat. The proposed pattern involves a bonnet-shaped hat, which is easy to sew without much difficulty. In addition, such a hat can be decorated with lace trim or a thin white frill.

How to sew a Little Red Riding Hood costume: job description

Cutting out a children's Little Red Riding Hood costume

Let's start with tulle. Our petticoat will be 30cm long. Therefore, we cut out 5 strips with a width of 30 cm and a length of 1.5 m along the piece of fabric. The total length of the petticoat without assembly will be 7.5 m.

Then let's move on to the red satin. A real Little Red Riding Hood simply cannot exist without a fluffy red skirt. Therefore, the costume will consist of a fluffy flared skirt. To do this, fold the fabric in half along the grain and mark a semicircle with a radius of 40 cm with a piece of soap or chalk. And one more - with a radius of 10-12cm. The centers of both circles lie at the same point.

We will also need a belt for the skirt and petticoat. These will be 2 rectangles measuring 80x8cm.

Now let's move on to the most important accessory of Little Red Riding Hood's carnival costume, in fact, the cap itself. It should be in the spirit of the time, i.e. with a large lapel and small lace around the edges.

The cut of our hat will be very simple. This is a rectangle measuring 40x25 cm and a drop of 12x7 cm. The sizes are presented for a child with a head volume of 47-48 cm.

Now the corset. The corset should be 5 cm less than the length of the child’s waist in order for the lacing to look beautiful. The corset will be slightly higher in front.

We cut out an apron from white crepe satin.

We will also make the blouse from white crepe satin. In order not to bother with the pattern, we take the base from a blouse that fits the child. I just increased the size of the shoulder so as to create pleats in front and behind. We make a fastener on the back.

(left - front, middle - sleeve, right - back)

Sewing and assembling a Little Red Riding Hood costume for a girl

Let's start with the petticoat. Sew all 5 parts of the cut together. Then we finish one edge with bias tape.

Then we reduce the thread tension to zero and make the maximum stitch pitch. In this mode, we make a line to assemble the petticoat, then carefully pull one thread and assemble the petticoat.

The already assembled petticoat will remain sewn to the belt. Insert the rubber band and you're done.

Let's start with the skirt. Before starting work, I heat-treated the outer and inner edges of the skirt. Then we process the outer contour with bias tape. It is better to sew bias tape with a decorative stitch.

We sew the belt.

Now we proceed to finishing with gold ribbon and white lace.

That's it, the skirt for the Little Red Riding Hood costume is ready.

The hat is the most important attribute of the costume, so it should look beautiful and elegant; I sewed lace on three sides of the rectangle.

Then we sew the remaining side of the rectangle to the “droplet”. Turn it inside out and finish the edge. This is what should happen.

We also heat-treat the apron, turn up the edge and sew on the lace.

We make the belt for the apron and ties from satin ribbon.

We start sewing the blouse in a classic way - from the shoulder seams. We lay the folds, sew and finish the seams.

We sew the sleeves along the side seam and gather them at the shoulder.

We turn up the bottom of the sleeve and sew on the lace.

We sew in the sleeves. We finish the neckline with bias tape and lace. The blouse is ready, all that remains is to insert the elastic bands into the sleeves and sew on the decor.

We sew a corset. Glue the adhesive fabric to one part of the corset. Then we sew both parts of the corset and turn them inside out. We sew lace along the front side with a decorative seam.

We process the bottom of the corset with a satin ribbon and a decorative seam. In front we process the holes for the cord with grommets.

As you can see, sew the original baby suit Making your own Little Red Riding Hood is a snap!

Natalya Druzenko specifically for the site

The creation of beautiful carnival and holiday costumes is always based on the depiction of various fairy-tale and cartoon characters. For example, one of the most popular characters, who can often be seen at New Year's parties in kindergartens, schools and even on themed parties, is Little Red Riding Hood. But how to make a Little Red Riding Hood costume without the help of professional fashion designers and milliners?

The image of Little Red Riding Hood: what is it like?

In order to make this costume fairy tale character, you need to remember what details make up the image of Little Red Riding Hood. So, our character will have a beautiful red headdress, a full skirt to match, a snow-white apron with ruffles, a black vest worn over a snow-white blouse with starched sleeves, a corset, white tights, black or red shoes and a wicker basket with pies for grandma.

The second point that you need to pay attention to is the method of making the festive outfit. That is, at this stage it is necessary to decide whether the Little Red Riding Hood costume will be made from any fabric, whether it will be knitted or crocheted, whether it can be made from paper, etc. In our example, we will consider a variant of the costume, sewn from fabric.

How to make a suit from fabric?

In order to make such a suit from fabric, you will need the following auxiliary tools:

  • red stretch gabardine (needed for sewing a hat and skirt);
  • white tulle (necessary for creating a petticoat);
  • multi-colored floss threads (for embroidering a design on an apron);
  • wide elastic band (with a width of no more than 2 cm) made of elastic material;
  • white calico (for napkins in the basket and apron);
  • red braid for decoration (you can use it to decorate the edges of a napkin);
  • black braid, piece denim and thick black jersey (for the belt).

Which skirt to make for the Little Red Riding Hood look?

A skirt is an important detail of any woman’s wardrobe, as well as the Little Red Riding Hood costume. The easiest option to make a beautiful skirt for a suit is to choose a half-sun style. In this case, we will get a product with an elastic band and without a zipper. To do this, we need to take only two measurements: the length of the product (abbreviated as DI) and the waist circumference (WG). And of course, you can find a ready-made pattern and adjust it to your child’s measurements, or make it yourself.

How to make a skirt pattern yourself?

So, you decided to make the Little Red Riding Hood costume yourself. Returning to the skirt, we take special paper for patterns (if there is none, you can use unnecessary newspapers), a simple pencil, ruler, protractor, compass and begin to build a right angle with the marked vertex at point “O”. Next, from the starting point we lay off two radii, designated “R1” “R2”. In this case, “R1” will conventionally indicate the waist line, and “R2” will indicate the lower part of our future skirt.

To calculate “R1”, it is necessary to add approximately 5 cm to the obtained hip volume measurements and divide the resulting value by 2 π. In this case, “π” will correspond to ≈ 3.14.5 cm. Let us recall that this is the number that is usually used for the allowance. And it is with this value that almost all children's suits are sewn. "Little Red Riding Hood" is no exception.

At the next stage, we establish two additional points obtained during the calculation of “R1”, denoting them “T” and “T1”. We do a similar procedure with the points formed during the calculations of “R2”, marking them as “H” and “H1”.

After that, connect and circle all the points. We will make the belt for the skirt in the shape of a small rectangle, equal to the sum of “OB” (hip circumference) + “π” (allowance) and with a width of approximately 7-8 cm.

What is the procedure for sewing a skirt for a suit?

At the first stage, we make a lining for the skirt, without which the Little Red Riding Hood costume, made with our own hands, simply will not look impressive. To do this, take a white tulle and cut out three quadrangles from it, each 1 m wide. Moreover, their length should be 1.5-2 cm longer than the length of the skirt.

You will end up with approximately three layers of petticoats. At the second stage, we carefully grind all three layers along the short side (each separately), and machine stitch along the long side and tighten it to the size of the “TT1” segment (as on the pattern). Then we connect all the lining parts and sew them together using a stitch.

At the next stage, we make the skirt itself according to the pattern and sew the lining to its inside. And the final touch to the skirt will be a beautiful apron that will perfectly complement your Little Red Riding Hood costume. You can make it yourself using white fabric and ready-made ruffles.

For simplicity, cut out a semicircle in one layer (allowing for a small number of folds); make a belt from a small narrow piece of fabric; Sew the resulting parts. And finally, for beauty, you can sew ruffles around the perimeter of the apron. If desired, you can also embroider floral motifs on a white background.

How to make the rest of the clothing details for the costume?

Before the Little Red Riding Hood costume (photos are presented in the article) is ready, it is necessary to complement the skirt with an original blouse, vest, corset and cap. You can purchase a blouse and vest ready-made, and make the corset yourself. To do this, take a thick fabric, cut a long strip from it (size 56x12 cm), fold the edges, make 2-3 holes and thread a lace or ribbon into them.

So, the top and bottom of the suit are ready. All that remains is to make the hat. To do this, we measure the circumference of the child’s head, measure the distance from one temple to the other, as well as from the back of the head to the crown. Then we take the red fabric and cut out two parts according to the pattern: the front part and the bottom of the hat. We sew all the details together and decorate them with white ruffles. Ready.

What details need to be taken into account when completing the image of the heroine?

However, to make the Little Red Riding Hood costume for a girl more consistent with the chosen image, add it with a basket. To do this, you can take a store-bought wicker basket, line it with white fabric with ruffles and fill it with fake pies.

Please note that, depending on the time of year, the girl can wear white tights (or knee socks) and shoes (or sandals) on her feet.

In the end you will end up with a beautiful festive costume Little Red Riding Hood. Photos of the product and patterns can be found in our article.

The Little Red Riding Hood costume is always a fashionable clothing option for carnival events and some holidays. Its advantage is not only that such an outfit does not lose its relevance. Another advantage is the ease of creating an image, because its details can be created independently and at home. Don’t torment yourself with thoughts about how to sew a Little Red Riding Hood costume. You just need to remember what that character looked like and create simple details with your own hands that are included in her image.

DIY Little Red Riding Hood costume for a girl

For the most simple option Such a children's carnival outfit for a girl will only need to sew a few details:

  • apron;
  • cap;
  • skirt;
  • corset.

For the blouse you will need two large pieces of white satin fabric, from which you should cut out two large pieces that follow the shape of the blouse and sew them together, leaving holes in the neck, bottom and sleeves. You need to cut it so that the blouse is very loose and easy to put on.

Making an apron is very simple. From white satin fabric we cut out a part in the form of a semicircle. We trim its arc with white lace braid, and sew a belt of white satin fabric to the base. The approximate width of the belt is five centimeters.

To create a bonnet, you need to cut out a figure in the shape of a rugby ball from red satin fabric, trim it with lace braid in a contrasting color, and sew satin ribbons to its two edges, which will be tied in a bow under the chin.

To make a skirt, two skirt parts should be cut out of red fabric middle length with a wide bottom. We sew both parts together, fold the top edges, insert the elastic, tightening it a little, and stitch it so that the elastic cannot fall out.

For the corset you will need satin fabric. We cut it in the shape of a rectangle and make five holes on the edge of each side of it. Thread a black lace or a very thin ribbon through the holes crosswise.

Original children's outfit for a girl

For girls who like to stand out, you can create a carnival look with unusual details.

Instead of a cap, you can sew a red beret from wedges, placing a perky pompom on top, or trim it with lace.

A red tutu skirt, which you can easily create with your own hands from fabric in the form of a mesh and elastic, will look impressive.

To prevent the corset from causing inconvenience, it can be sewn onto any white blouse from your wardrobe. To do this, you need to take three rectangles (one on the back and two on the front sides) and a lace that will connect the two parts at the front.

You can make a very simple apron with your own hands, which does not require needles and threads. It is enough just to cut out a part from light satin that resembles a semicircle in shape so that two long thin strips extend from its base, which will act as ties.

Option for an adult Little Red Riding Hood costume

To create such a carnival outfit with your own hands, you will need to sew only a few parts; the rest can be found in your own wardrobe or purchased.

You can find a red skirt and a white blouse yourself. It is advisable that the skirt is not straight.

A stylish version of the apron is lace. You can choose either black or white lace, contrasting with a bright skirt. Sewing an apron is extremely simple - you need to sew a wide satin ribbon to the semicircular base of the apron.

A very impressive detail is the lace cuffs with satin. They will come in handy if the blouse is short. Cut out a rectangle that can be wrapped around your wrist and trim it with lace. It should be connected at the wrist using buttons.

The matinee is coming soon, and your daughter is playing the role of Little Red Riding Hood? Have you already come up with a costume, but don't have any ideas on how to make a headdress? Then this article is for you. We have collected six patterns of red riding hoods and added a variant of one costume as a bonus. Interesting? Then read the article.

Simple Red Riding Hood

A fairy-tale heroine's headdress can be made quickly. But it is not necessary to make a hat at once. After all, if you try, you can sew a headdress in which your daughter can wear for more than one season. Moreover, she will put on the hat with pleasure, because after the matinee it will become almost magical in the child’s imagination. How to make a headdress? First you need to print out the red riding hood pattern. And don’t forget to scale it based on the parameters of the child’s head. Now you need to transfer the pattern to the fabric. You can sew a hat from natural wool fabric, and from artificial ones, for example, from fleece. The headdress can be made of one color, or the lining can be made of white material.

How to sew a red riding hood with your own hands? Is the pattern transferred to the fabric and all the details cut out? Now you should alternately sew the top of the hat and the lining. We sew a rectangle to the side of the headdress, and sew another side to the opposite part of it. When two parts of the product are ready, you should connect them together. In order for the hat to fit well, you need to sew a button on one part of the headdress, and make a hinged loop on the other.

Hat with clasp at the back of the head

Making such a headdress is even easier than the previous one. How to sew a hat for a red product is attached above. It needs to be cut and adjusted to the child’s dimensions. This headdress is made without lining, so you need to immediately choose a thick fabric. But this only applies if you plan to make a hat for walking on the street. If the headdress is made for a one-time event for a matinee, you can choose a beautiful and thin material, for example, satin.

Printed out and cut out the Little Red Riding Hood pattern? Now you can start assembling the product. We sew a button to both sides of the workpiece, and then fasten them with threads or ribbons. detailed instructions given above.

Cap

The pattern of the red riding hood may not be entirely standard, and even old-fashioned. Why not actually send the fairy-tale heroine to past centuries, when girls wore caps? My daughter will only be happy with this transformation. How to sew an extravagant headdress? The first step is to print out the pattern. Now you need to cut 6 parts from red fabric. Then we sew them together one by one. First you need to assemble the back of the head. To make it stay on your head better, you should insert an elastic band. Now you need to make the edging. We sew the parts together in pairs, and then attach them to the edge of the finished base. To make the headdress look prettier, you can trim the edge of the cap with a beautiful braid or thin lace.

Warm red hat

Such a headdress will not look very appropriate at a matinee, but for everyday wear it is ideal. Attached above is for Red Riding Hood. It will not be difficult to build such a headdress with your own hands. Print out the pattern and scale it. Now you need to take an artificial or real fur. If you find red material, good, but if not, then don’t worry. Fur is well tinted with fabric dyes. You can repaint both the finished product and the material itself before you start cutting it.

We transfer the outline from the paper pattern to the fur and cut out the details. It is advisable to sew a lined hat. This way it will be warmer, and the headdress will look prettier. First you need to stitch the upper parts of the parts, and then sew the hat blanks together. Ready product can be decorated with pompoms and ties.

City Woman's Hat

Above we told you how to sew a cap, now it’s time to tell you how to make a headdress for a 19th century city woman. Above you will find the cap pattern for Little Red Riding Hood. Not only an experienced craftswoman, but also a novice needlewoman can make such a product with her own hands. Print out the pattern and scale it. It is best to sew such a hat from a beautiful smooth fabric, for example, satin. We cut out the parts from fabric, and then duplicate the bottom and fields from cardboard. For what? So that the headdress keeps its shape better. Glue the blanks to the cardboard. Now you can sew the headdress. We sew the crown to the bottom, and then we attach the brim to it. To make the hat more decorative, you can decorate it with lace, ribbons or flowers.

Hood

The easiest way to make a headdress for Little Red Riding Hood is to copy it from the Disney cartoon. Everyone probably remembers that the main character wore a cloak with a hood. But a head cape can be sewn separately, without a cloak. The pattern of a red riding hood for a girl of this type is attached above. You should print the drawing and adjust it to the dimensions of the child’s head. The yoke is made as desired. If you do not plan to attach the hood to clothing, then you need to make a decorative trim at the bottom, otherwise the headdress will look unfinished. We cut out the details from red fabric. If desired, you can also cut out the lining. Now you need to sew the two parts of the hood together. If you made a lining, grind it down. If the headdress is without lining, then the edges of the product should be sharpened. Let's move on to the yoke. Sew it to the bottom of the hood on both sides. You can decorate this element with buttons or beautiful ribbons.

Little Red Riding Hood costume

The easiest way to get your daughter ready for a party is to make her an outfit out of a raincoat. Little Red Riding Hood is exactly the character for whom the cloak suits very well. We told you how to sew a hood in the previous paragraph, and now we’ll tell you how to make the cape itself. Above you will find the Little Red Riding Hood costume pattern. Even that woman who rarely sits down to eat can make it with her own hands. sewing machine. We print the pattern or draw it based on our image.

The raincoat must be made with a lining, so there must be two blanks: one will be red, and the other can be of any color. Now we cut out the parts and sew them together. A hood should be sewn to the top edge of the product. We attach ties to it to make it easy to secure the raincoat to clothes. Now you can start decorating the product. For example, sew on patch pockets and sew on a row of buttons. They can complement this costume elegant dress and black boots or boots. Don't forget to give your daughter a basket - a mandatory attribute of any Little Red Riding Hood. It is not necessary to put pies in it, but the child will still be pleased to find them there.
