Knitting is easy and simple. With their help, you can create original things that suit only you. Every woman has knitted outfits in her wardrobe: beautiful sweaters, scarves, warm mittens for the winter. Knitted items are now at the peak of popularity and for good reason. Many different techniques allow you to create creative, fashionable accessories and clothes.

One of the interesting and unusual patterns is a braid with knitting needles. This easy pattern, which even novice needlewomen can master, has many techniques. In any case, it’s easy to learn how to knit correctly - whether it’s a braid of twelve, sixteen or three loops, whether you knit on straight or circular knitting needles. Volume double or triple. These are what we will talk about in this lesson..

A voluminous braid is knitted with knitting needles using the upper loops, or rather, by moving them. These loops are used to knit several auxiliary lines. The number of loops should be divided by three. The voluminous braid pattern can consist of eighteen loops, six per braid element (there are only three). To knit voluminous braids, you will need two straight knitting needles, and one additional one size smaller.

The voluminous pattern is knitted in stockinette stitch. To begin with, the first 12 links are knitted, then the last 6 are made in the amount of three stripes. This is done to be able to transfer elements to the left side of the knitting. First and last stitch rows also need to be knitted. The product will need to be turned over several times during knitting.

When working on a new strip, you should leave the links on an additional knitting needle and tie in the last six loops of the voluminous braid. Then all the links are knitted on the third knitting needle.

Now you need to complete 3 stripes without moving them. In the new row, all stitches are moved to the right. Six links are transferred to an additional knitting needle, the rest are knitted in four rows and turned over. Then the loops are knitted from the auxiliary needle. Next you will need to alternate them to the right or left, every third row. This is how you get a voluminous braid.

We bring to your attention a pattern for knitting a voluminous braid. With its help you can easily master this technique.

Braid of nine loops with knitting needles

Let's look at the technique of forming a braid step by step. We cast on seventeen loops on the knitting needles. We start knitting from the first row:

  • We do not knit the edge. We knit three purls, nine knits and four purls.
  • Let's move on to the second row: here, too, we simply remove the edge and knit: three knits, nine purls, three knits. And we knit the last edge inside out. It turns out that this is the blank.

  • Let's move on to the third row. We remove the edge and knit three inside out. Here we will make the first movement: we transfer three loops to the auxiliary knitting needle so that they are on the front part of the work.
  • Now we knit three stitches and transfer the stitches from the auxiliary needle to the left needle. We also knit them with knit stitches. Then there are three knit stitches and four purl stitches. The first transfer is completed.

  • We knit the fourth and sixth rows in exactly the same way as the first, and the fifth in the same way as the second.
  • In the seventh row we make the second movement. We remove the edge, knit three with purls and three with knits. We remove the next three loops with an additional tool so that they are on the wrong side. We knit three knit stitches, return the loops with extra stitches. knitting needles on the left. We knit them with knit stitches and the remaining stitches with the wrong side.

  • We knit the eighth and tenth rows as the first, the ninth as the second.

Now to get the pattern you just need to continue knitting according to the already specified pattern. Alternate steps from the third to the tenth row until you get the pattern of the desired size.

You should end up with a braid like this.

Braid pattern of 12 loops with knitting needles

This pattern is very popular now. It is with its help that the now fashionable hats with pigtails are knitted. A voluminous braid pattern of 12 loops can decorate items such as cardigans, blankets, and sweaters.

Knitting pattern for a braid of 12 loops

Braid of 16 loops with knitting needles pattern

In the pattern, only the front rows are drawn, the purl rows are knitted according to the pattern.

The repeat of this pattern consists of twenty loops and fourteen rows.

Symbols for the diagram:

We knit double and triple braids

Double braid is one of the most easy patterns . It is very easy to learn and learn how to perform. The double braid gets its name because it consists of only two braids.

This is a very dynamic and mobile ornament, it can be changed as you please. For example, increase or decrease the spaces between patterns.

In order to start knitting a double braid using this pattern, you will need to cast on the correct number of loops. There should be three of them for symmetry, two edge loops and plus loops for the pattern - their sum should be divisible by 12.

The first and fifth rows are knitted the same way: three knit stitches, three purl stitches, the last three knitted together purlwise.

The second row is worked knit and purl on the other side.

In the third row, a transfer is made with a tilt to the left. Knit three knit and purl stitches, for extra. the spoke is moved three more times. Then three loops are knitted inside out, and the moved ones are returned and knitted on the face. The seventh row is done in the same way, only tilted to the right.

With this detailed diagram with the description it will be easy for you to figure out how to knit a double braid.

A triple braid, at first glance, may seem like a complicated pattern for novice needlewomen, but this is absolutely not the case. The entire first row is knitted with knit stitches. All purl rows are performed in the same way. In the third row, five loops are not knitted, but transferred to an additional knitting needle. The next five are knitted face down. Then ten more knit stitches follow, and five are again transferred to an additional knitting needle. Afterwards, five knit stitches are knitted, and then all the loops that moved.

From the fifth to the eighth, all rows are knitted face down. Ninth row - five faces. p, five are transferred, five knits, transferred are returned and knitted. The eleventh row consists entirely of knit stitches. This is how a triple braid repeat is knitted.

A voluminous braid with knitting needles is a very interesting pattern; many beginning needlewomen will find it useful to learn how to knit this way. This pattern has many interpretations to suit every taste and color. You can knit almost anything you want using this pattern, because there are a lot of variations of voluminous braids. There is, for example, a very beautiful Turkish braid with elongated loops, which will decorate and women's blouse, and a children's sleeveless vest, and a voluminous snood. A thick braided braid can serve as a decorative element for warm cardigan and for bags self made. A convex braid of 15 loops is used for knitting hats and sweaters. Flat braids that go well with openwork rhombus, loved by beginner knitters, the herringbone braid is suitable for more experienced ones, because now it can be knitted diagonally and on both sides, symmetrically to the central axis, and this method requires skill. In general, not only diagonal braids can decorate a pattern in a canvas - the braid can be vertical or transverse. There's even a double-sided braid that looks the same on both the front and back side of the knit, making it ideal for knitting scarves. The pattern can consist not only of entire braids - the texture of the fabric can also be created by their individual elements, as for example in the Braided pattern. To understand which braid will look more impressive on your knitting - large and fluffy or is it better to choose small braids (weaving largely depends on the thickness and material of the thread), it is better to knit a sample first.

I don’t know what the correct name for such a braid is, I would call it a “braid of 3 stripes (strands)”, because in appearance it resembles an ordinary braid of hair, which is usually woven here in Russia. It can also be called a “braid of 9 loops”. A spectacular look is achieved due to the fact that the loops intersect before the work, then behind the work. Many people cannot understand how it is knitted the first time, and when I showed products with such a braid, many asked for a diagram and to explain how it is knitted. Today I had a free hour and I quickly took pictures of the process.

Scheme:

Matterlyes and tools:

  • Yarn
  • 2 regular knitting needles and 1 auxiliary knitting needle.

And mine small master class how to knit a braid of 9 loops:

Let's start by knitting just a sample. And then, having understood the principle, you can easily “build” such a braid into any product. I cast on 17 stitches on the needles. Of these, I knitted 2 rows as follows.

1st row: remove 1 edge (and so on in all rows), purl 3, knit 9, purl 3 and the last edge we knit purl (and so on in all rows)

Row 2: k1, k3, p9, k3, k1.

Our work on the front side will look like this

In the third row we will make the first cross!

3rd row: 1cr, 3p,

We remove the next 3 loops onto an additional knitting needle and leave them “hanging” before work,

knit the next 3 stitches,

and knit them with knit stitches. The crossover has been completed! We tie the remaining loops of the row 3 knit, 3 purl, edge

4th row: 1 cr, 3 purl, 9 knit, 3 purl, 1 cr.

Row 5: k1, k3, p9, k3, k1.

6th row: 1 cr, 3 purl, 9 knit, 3 purl, 1 cr.

In the 7th row we make a second cross!

Row 7: k1, p3, k3, slip the next 3 stitches onto an additional needle and leave them “hanging” while working,

and knit the next 3 loops

Then we return 3 loops from the additional needle to the left one

and knit them with knit stitches. We tie the remaining loops of the row: 3 p, 1 edge.

8th row: 1 cr, 3 purl, 9 knit, 3 purl, 1 cr.

Row 9: k1, k3, p9, k3, k1.

10th row: 1 cr, 3 purl, 9 knit, 3 purl, 1 cr.

Now you probably understand that on the one hand you should always cross the loops before work, and on the other always after work.

Crosses can be performed at different heights. For example, if you do them in every 2nd row, the braid will turn out to be very plump and convex. And if the distance between the crosses is increased, the braid will have a more elongated appearance.

Knitting, in which simple or intricate braids appear on the product, is called Aran knitting. This style came to handicraft circles from Ireland, or more precisely, from the three sea-washed Aran Islands, where caring wives and mothers created warm fishing sweaters for their husbands and sons, in which they used elements of knitting in the form of braids. Knitters of past times did not use drawn braid patterns with knitting needles, but passed on their knowledge from one woman to another. According to popular beliefs, braids are fishermen’s ropes, nets are islands, zigzags or chains are paths among coastal stones, the tree of life is unity. Each sweater contained the story of the craftswoman, which she carefully put into it while knitting.

To connect a piece with its own story, you can use knitting using different numbers of stitches.

“Braided” of 9 loops

The type of braid with 9 loops is considered the simplest in the relevant authoritative circles. This braid looks like this:

Its diagram is shown in the following figure (front side):

The diagram explains how to knit four such braids on a canvas at once, but the article will look at how to knit one braid, because it can be easily repeated at the required distance for a particular product.

First you need to complete 2 facial rows. In the third row, you need to remove 3 loops on an additional knitting needle (if you don’t have one, you can use a safety pin), knit 3 more knit stitches. Then knit the remaining loops in knit stitch, and knit the last loops - there will be 3 of them left - in knit stitch.

We knit rows 4 to 8 using stockinette stitch. We start the ninth row with 3 knit stitches, continue by removing 3 onto an additional knitting needle, then 3 knit stitches, and return 3 knit stitches from the auxiliary knitting needle. Next you need to knit the next 4 rows using stockinette stitch.

The continuation of “braiding” the braid lies in repeating the actions already completed in the work from the mentioned third row onwards.

Braid with rapport 16

A 16-loop braid requires an initial cast of 22 loops, of which 16 will be for the braid itself. The pattern itself will look like this:

In the 1st row we perform 2 loops purlwise, knit 16, purl 2 again.

The second row starts with 4 knit stitches. Then there are manipulations with the loops of the braid, which are performed in the indicated order: remove 2 loops, leave them behind the work, knit 2 knit ones, return 2 loops with the front method, remove 2 loops in front of the work, make 2 knit ones, return 2 loops “facewise”, knit 4 facial. Using this algorithm we knit 4 rows, taking into account the braid pattern.

For the next row, count 7, we start with 2 purl loops, remove the next 4 behind the work, then cover with 4 knit stitches, return the 4 removed loops knitwise. Again we remove 4 loops to leave them before work, continue with 4 knit stitches, and return the removed loops and “turn” them into knit stitches. Purl stitch finishes the row.

Working with 8 loops

To tie the mentioned braid, you can use the following pattern:

Braids with 8 loops look similar to braids with 9 loops:

The beginning of knitting consists of casting on 16 loops, of which the braid will occupy 8 loops, 6 loops are used for framing, and another 2 are edge loops, with which each row begins and ends. The first row begins with purl 3 loops (except for the edge stitch), continues with 8 knit stitches, and ends with 3 purl stitches. The next row, the second, and all rows of even order must be knitted according to the picture.

The third row uses both left and right movement. First, there are 3 purl loops, and then, in the desired direction, 8 loops are moved, which we knit as follows:

  • to the left: 4 loops are removed before work, 4 are knitted, 4 removed are knitted in the knit method;
  • to the right: the same actions with a difference in placing the removed loops behind the work.

We finish the row with purl loops. We knit the fifth row as at the very beginning. From the 7th row we repeat all the described work, starting from the 1st row.

Small 4-loop braid

Schematically, knitting a braid of 4 loops can be depicted as follows:

In real form it will look like this:

To make a 4-loop pattern, you should cast on 12 loops, of which 6 are used for the background, 4 relate directly to the braid itself, and each row will begin and end with two edge stitches.

In the first row we knit 3 purl loops at each end of the row, and 4 knit stitches are placed in the middle. All even numbers are knitted according to the pattern. In the third row, you can move the knitting lines of the braid to the left or to the right. It starts with three purls, and then we move 4 loops:

  • to the left: remove 2 loops before work, onto an auxiliary knitting needle, knit 2 knit stitches, return the knit stitches, finish with 3 purl stitches;
  • to the right: we do the same steps, but the removed loops remain at work.

With the fifth row we completely repeat the first row, and with the seventh we do all the work from the beginning.

Knitting a braid with 18 loops

To knit a braid of 18 loops, you can also use the diagram below.

18 loops woven into a braid look like this:

Creating this voluminous braid proceeds according to a similar algorithm described above.

Initially, you need to cast on 28 loops, 10 of which serve as a frame. The first row, in the middle, consists of 18 knit stitches, which are “surrounded” by 5 purl loops at the edges of the row. We knit the next row in reverse: five loops from both ends in the front way, and 18 in the purl way.

We knit the third row like the first, and the fourth like the second. In the fifth we remove the edge loop and knit four purlwise. We tilt the braid to the right, knit 12 knit stitches according to the pattern. Having unfolded the work, you need to knit 6 purl loops, including the first one - here it does not act as an edge stitch. Having unfolded the work again, you need to knit the same 6 loops in the front way. You need to unfold the work again to knit 6 purl loops, and having unfolded it again, you need to knit the same 6 loops with knit stitches, but now placing them on an auxiliary knitting needle, which should be taken out before work. Afterwards, we alternate three rows of yarn: 10 – wrong side, 11 – face, 12 – wrong side. After these manipulations, we continue repetitions from the fifth to the twelfth row inclusive, forming a braid of the length we need.

Having practiced knitting well in at least two of the above methods, you can safely move on to experiments with different braid patterns on the fabric.

Video on the topic of the article

Indeed, such a pattern as “braids” is very similar to the popular women's hairstyle. It looks equally beautiful on children's scarf, and also on and on women's pullovers. Braids look very cute and will decorate almost any thing. Can be used for a braid on its own, as a separate element, or in combination with other suitable patterns.

If a person wants to create such a beauty himself, but does not know how to knit a braid with knitting needles for beginners, then let him take an auxiliary knitting needle, add threads to it, and also have some free time and patience.

So, you have chosen a product to knit, and there is a “braid” in the pattern. First of all, you need to know some tips that will help you master:

  • You definitely need a special knitting needle, then knitting a pattern for a braid will be much easier. At the same time, such a tool is also useful for creating a pattern called a “harness.”

Special knitting needles for knitting braids with your own hands

  • The pattern in the braid will have a neat appearance if the auxiliary knitting needle is smaller than the main one.
  • You need to study the drawing in advance.
  • The width of the braid depends on the number of loops and the thickness of the selected threads. If a larger width is chosen, then the threads should be fluffier and thicker. If the diagrams indicate that the braid is narrow, it is advisable to use cotton ones.
  • When choosing a braid as a pattern for your product, it is worth knowing that the fabric will become and also narrow during knitting. This should be taken into account when counting how many loops are needed and selecting threads.
  • If you don’t have a special knitting needle and it’s impossible to purchase one for a number of reasons, then a large knitting pin will do. Well, or an ordinary stocking room will successfully replace both. In any case, go to the seller and tell him that you are just learning how to knit a braid, and he will help you find the right item.
  • The braids have 2 directions, for the correction of which an auxiliary needle is needed. The main thing is to position it correctly. If it is placed behind the canvas, then the direction of the braids will be to the right. When she is in front, then to the left.

The double braid is the most simple pattern for making with your own hands and also for beginners. Its appearance consists of two weaves. In this case, the design of the pattern can be changed in appearance by changing the distance between the main pattern up or down. To understand this in more detail for beginners, you should make a sample, in which our example and braid knitting pattern will help you.

Double braid - knitting pattern

First we will tie a simple and beautiful braid. We count the loops, from them we need to subtract 2 edge loops for symmetry, the remaining number should tend to be divided by 12. We must understand that the first rows are formed by the pattern, and then we will knit the weaves ourselves. So, here is a braiding pattern for beginners, read carefully and follow it step by step.

  1. We knit the first row like this: first there are three front loops, then 3 purl ones. When making fabric this way, we will finish the row with purl loops.
  2. We do the second row and all other even rows as seen in the figure, that is, knit stitches under knit stitches, and, accordingly, purl stitches with purl stitches.
  3. Now we will conduct a knitting master class, with the braid tilted to the left. Don't forget to leave our knitting needle in front of the canvas. We knit the row in this way: first purl 3, then knit 3, remove three loops on an auxiliary needle, purl 3, return the 3 removed and knit. At the end of the row we knit 3 purl loops.
  4. We knit the fifth row exactly like the first.
  5. Next we make the 7th row. Now we will have a slope on the right. We remove the knitting needle behind the fabric. The loops are in this order: first we remove 3 loops on the knitting needle, knit 2 loops, purl the removed loops, knit them again. At the end we do 3 purls.
  6. We knit the ninth row like the first and repeat our pattern.
  7. If it’s not entirely clear, you can look at the photo.

Like this beautiful pattern the braids will look very voluminous. You can see how to knit a voluminous braid with knitting needles in the photo. The pattern will be embossed, which is obtained due to the fact that the front and back loops will be combined in a different way, and the front ones will prevail.

Double braid knitting pattern

To make a new sample, we pick up the loops again, leaving 4 for the edge loops - they are necessary for symmetry. The number of loops should be divisible by 11. We knit rapport in this way: first 2 purl stitches, and then 9 knit stitches. We use rapport to create the first row, the third, as well as 7 and 9. We finish the row with two loops on the wrong side.

Here are instructions on how to make the fourth row: two knit stitches, then knit stitches under the knit stitches, and under the purl stitches we knit the purl stitches. 5 is used for braiding your own braids. We make it like this: first purl 2, take a secondary needle, transfer 3 loops to it, throw the fabric in front, purl loops from the three thrown over, 3 knit loops. At the end there are 2 purl loops. We make the 11th row like this: purl 2 loops, knit 3, purl 3 loops, return the removed loops and knit. At the end we will make three knit stitches.

Triple wide braids are also called “royal braids”, which perfectly decorate a blouse, and in general, other things made independently. This product has a back and front stitch.

Triple braid pattern with diagram

For a triple braid pattern, the number must be a multiple of 30. To create this beautiful drawing, we perform the following actions:

  1. Our first row is completely front row.
  2. The second row and the remaining even rows are completely purled.
  3. We remove 5 on the knitting needle, placed in front of our canvas, then 5 knit stitches, 10 knit stitches, again we remove 5 on the knitting needle, but now we leave them behind the canvas. 5 facial. We knit 5 loops on the knitting needle.
  4. Row 5 and the next row 7 are completely knit.
  5. We knit the ninth row like this: we have 5 knit stitches, slip 5 onto a knitting needle, transfer them to work, then 5 knit stitches, removed knit stitches, 5 loops, and place the extra pizza in front of the fabric. Then knit 5 stitches and remove the knit stitches.
  6. Row 11 is completely front row.
  7. We do the 13th row as the first.
  8. We repeat.

Of course, someone will think that braid patterns in knitting are a difficult task, and knitting them is difficult. However, it is worth spending a little time, gaining a little experience to create a pattern, and only then the pattern will be very easy for you. Other options for making patterns with braids, according to the diagram, can be seen in the video.

Unusual beautiful braids can also be knitted using knitting needles.

Braids are always a great idea for any knitted item: they are universal, because they are suitable for children, women and men; There are a huge number of their varieties - there is always plenty to choose from; braids and plaits look wonderful on most models of knitted items, be it hats, sweaters, scarves, cardigans, snoods, mittens, sweaters, dresses, booties, vests, pants and much more.

Using diagrams with descriptions of knitted braids, you can almost always knit not just another thing, but a unique, one-of-a-kind designer product that will delight not only the craftswoman, but everyone around.

How to knit braids with knitting needles - diagrams and descriptions of patterns

It should be noted that there are specifics of work here, which you should definitely familiarize yourself with before starting knitting. So, how to knit with braids? For this auxiliary knitting needles are required, which come in different sizes. Their thickness should be selected according to a simple principle: auxiliary knitting needles should be slightly smaller than working knitting needles.

By what principle are braids knitted? During operation, the hinges are constantly moving. Several loops are transferred to the auxiliary knitting needle, leaving them behind or in front of the work, after which, in accordance with the selected pattern, a certain number of loops are knitted, and then the loops previously set aside on the auxiliary knitting needle are put into work.

To make it clear on what principle braids are knitted, let’s consider several options for working with knitting needles in this style, including for beginner needlewomen.

Simple braid - master class for beginners

To understand the basics of knitting braids, let's consider the simplest option, ideal for beginners. This braid knitting tutorial assumes that the auxiliary knitting needles are replaced with a simple pin, which is extremely convenient if you have not yet acquired the necessary tools.

How to knit a braid - master class for beginners

Let's make a braid with 8 loops. Let’s cast on 14 loops for the sample (12 loops for the braid and its “framing” + 2 edge loops) and follow the diagram.

1st row: 2 purl, 8 knit, 2 purl;

From 2nd to 4th row We knit what the knitting looks like - we knit knit stitches above the knit stitches, and purl stitches above the purl stitches (photo 1).

5th row: Purl 2, 4 loops re-slip, without knitting them, onto an auxiliary needle and leave ahead of the work; knit the next 4 loops (at the beginning of knitting them, try not to have a large stretch between the loops). Then we slip 4 loops from the auxiliary needle onto the left needle and also knit them. It turned out that our loops seemed to cross with an inclination to the left (photos 2 and 3).

From 6th to 12th row - we knit according to the pattern.

Now let's look at more complex knitted braids - diagrams with descriptions will help in this difficult task for beginners.

Beautiful three-dimensional pattern

A voluminous braid with knitting needles will make any thing special, and will definitely add a little romance to the image. Just one voluminous pattern is enough, such as this wonderful braid, and the item already takes on a unique look.

The pattern shows the front and back rows. The width of the motif is 40 loops, repeat in height from the 1st to the 32nd row.

- cross 4 loops to the right (slip 1 loop onto an auxiliary needle and leave it at work, knit 3 loops, then purl 1 loop with an auxiliary needle).

- cross 5 loops to the right (slip 2 loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave them at work, knit 3 loops, then purl 2 loops with an auxiliary needle).

- cross 5 loops to the left (slip the 3rd loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave it before work, purl the 2nd loops, then knit the 3rd loops with an auxiliary needle).

- Cross 5 loops to the left (slip 3 loops onto a secondary needle and leave before work, knit 2 loops, then knit 3 loops from a secondary needle).

- Knit 5 cross to the right (leave 2 loops on the auxiliary needle while working, knit 3 knit stitches, then knit 2 loops on the auxiliary needle.

- cross 4 loops to the left (slip the 2nd loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave before work , knit 2 loops, then 2nd loops with aux. knitting needles).

Progress:

The number of loops is cast on the knitting needles, divisible by 11 plus 2 loops for symmetry of the pattern, plus 2 edge loops.

Rows 1,3,7,9: *2 purl, 9 knit *, 2 purl;

2 and all even rows: 2 knit, * 9 purl, 2 knit*;

5 row: * 2 purl, 3,4,5 loops are removed forward onto an additional knitting needle, knit 6,7,8 loops, then 3,4,5 knit loops, 3 knit loops *, 2 purl;

11th row: * 2 purl, 3 knit, 6,7,8 loops are removed back onto an additional knitting needle, knit the 9,10,11th loops, and then 6,7,8 loops from the additional knitting needle *, purl 2.

What to choose for a women's cardigan?

A braid for a women's cardigan can look different: large, small, repeating, combined with other braids or in a single copy, but it will always give the knitted item an original look.

Knitting pattern for braids and designations:

— 10 loops cross to the left (slip 5 loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave before work , knit the next 5 loops, then 5 loops with aux. knitting needles).

— 10 loops cross to the right (slip 5 loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave at work , knit the next 5 loops, then 5 loops with aux. knit the knitting needles).

The diagram shows both front and back rows. We read the front (odd rows) from right to left, the purl (even rows) we read from left to right.

The width of the braid is 20 loops. We repeat in height from the 1st to the 12th row. The number of rows in the pattern in height can be increased, depending on the required pattern.

IN classic version, if we weave 5X5 braids, then between the weaves we knit 10 rows in height (including knit and purl). In this model, the number of rows in the pattern needs to be increased in height to 16 rows.

Pattern for mittens

A good mood and warmth this winter will be created by mittens knitted from braids, which you can knit for yourself, your sister, your friend, your mother.

This knitting pattern may be difficult for beginners, since the mittens need to be knitted using five stocking needles.

Progress:

We cast on 52 loops - 13 loops per knitting needle. We knit an elastic band 2x2, approximately 40 rows. Follow the diagram and description to understand how to properly knit braids on mittens.

We knit a finger on the 10th row. On the side of the small braids, add to the two middle loops - 3 times in the second row. Then in the third row 3 times. When there are 18 loops, transfer them to a pin and continue knitting the mitten. The finger can be tied later. It is knitted exactly like the mitten itself, only in a smaller size.

Next comes double knitting, in the first row on knitting needles we alternately knit one knit stitch and two together with facial ones. In the second row with facial loops, two loops together and so on until the end of the row. Pull all remaining loops.

What pattern is suitable for a children's pullover?

A children's pullover with knitting needles can also be decorated with a beautiful braid motif. It will come in very handy for winter products, adding its own flavor when creating a sweater for a child. Let's take the central braid as a basis.

In the pattern according to which we will knit a braid, only the front rows are shown. In purl knit according to the pattern. The width of the motif is 36 loops. Repeat in height from the 1st to the 20th row.

Diagram and explanations:

- purl (purl - in front rows, front - in purl rows).

- front (front - in the front rows, purl - in the back rows).

- Cross 3 loops to the right (slip 1 loop onto an auxiliary needle and leave it at work, knit the 2nd loops, then knit the loop with the auxiliary needle).

- Cross 3 loops to the left (slip the 2nd loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave it before work, knit 1 loop, then knit the 2nd loops with an auxiliary needle).

- Cross 3 loops to the right (slip 1 loop onto an auxiliary needle and leave it at work, knit the 2nd loops, then purl the loop with the auxiliary needle).

- cross 3 loops to the left (slip the 2nd loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave them before work, purl 1 loop, then knit the 2nd loops with an auxiliary needle).

- Cross 4 loops to the left (slip the 2nd loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave it before work, knit 2 loops, then knit the 2nd loops with an auxiliary needle).

- Cross 4 loops to the right (slip 2 loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave them at work, knit the 2nd loops, then knit 2 loops with an auxiliary needle).

- cross 4 loops to the left (slip 2 loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave them before work, purl the next 2 loops, then knit the 2nd loops from the auxiliary needle).

- Cross 4 loops to the right (slip 2 loops onto an auxiliary needle and leave them at work, knit the 2nd loops, then purl 2 loops with an auxiliary needle).

- Cross 2 loops to the left (slip 1 loop onto the auxiliary needle and leave it before work, knit the 2nd loop, then knit 1 loop with the auxiliary needle).

Plaid pattern

Knitting a blanket with knitting needles from braids is a real challenge for a needlewoman, because this work takes a lot of time and requires a lot of effort and patience, but the result will delight the whole family for many years! What needs to be done to knit the family’s future favorite blanket? The answer is simple: a simple braid pattern that will add coziness to a knitted blanket.

We knit a braid for a blanket:

The voluminous braid consists of 12 loops. The pattern repeat in height is 8 rows. Rows 1 to 8 form the pattern. In every 4th row, the braid loops overlap one by one.

Progress:

1st and 5th rows:*P9 p., 12 persons. p., 9 p. n. *, repeat from * to *;

2nd and all even rows: knit all loops according to the pattern;

4th row:* 9 p. p., 8 p. cross to the left (leave 4 p. on the auxiliary needle before work, knit 4 p., then knit 4 p. with the auxiliary knitting needle), purl 9. n. *, repeat from * to *;

8th row:* 9 p. p., 4 persons. p., 8 p. cross to the right (leave 4 p. on the auxiliary needle while working, knit 4 p., then knit 4 p. with the auxiliary knitting needle), purl 9. p., *, repeat from * to *.
Repeat the pattern, starting from the 1st row, until the desired height of the braid.
