Belts are enough important element in the production of folk rag doll. As in traditional folk costume This piece of clothing is worth paying attention to. Our master class is primarily designed for craftswomen of folk rag dolls. Others will also be interested in the weaving options that we offer, for example, for making baubles.

In our article we will look at how you can weave a belt from threads in three ways and tell you how to decorate the ends of the belt. These belts do not require any equipment, just your hands and a small hook, which can be found in every home. We used cotton threads for doll belts, 430m, 100g. The “Heart” and “Birds” weaves are taken from the book by E.I. Osipova and were used to create real belts in Russian folk costume. Of course, for real belts, you need to take thicker threads or use bundles of threads in several folds.

Braided belt “Heart” made of threads.

The “Heart” belt is woven from 6 bundles of threads. It is interesting to take threads of different colors - for every two bunches there is a different color of thread. Distribute the thread colors symmetrically around the center. It turns out interesting if you take 4 threads of one color and 2 threads of a second color. Gather all the bundles of threads together, tie a knot at the end and fix this knot on some ledge in the house. Start weaving.

For weaving of the “Heart” belt, see the diagram below. Start weaving the belt on the left side. Pass the first outer thread under the 2nd and over the 3rd. Next, on the right side, we pass the outermost 6th thread under the 5th and over the 4th and 1st. Then the process of operations is repeated.

Braided belt “Birds” made of threads.

The “Bird” belt is also woven from six bundles of threads and looks like a pigtail. The thicker each bunch you have, the more voluminous the belt will be.

For weaving of the “Birds” belt, see the diagram. We pass the first thread on the far left over the 2nd and 3rd. Next, we pass the 6th thread on the far right over the 5th, 4th and 1st threads. We repeat the weaving process until the desired length of the belt.

The colors and threads in the “Birds” belt can be arranged in different ways: in the example there are three colors, two threads of each, and they are located symmetrically to the center.

This is the kind of belt you get if you take threads of two different colors (four of one color and two of another color) and place them symmetrically relative to the center.

This weaving is made from two colors of threads, three threads of each color. Place threads initially of one color on one side and threads of a different color on the other side.

Twisted cord belt is the simplest.

The belt for rag dolls is usually made with this weave. It is the most common, fast and simple. Any thickness can be made. The thicker we want to get the belt, the thicker or more threads we need to take. Nothing limits us in color either. Technologically, this cord consists of two bundles of threads twisted with each other. Bundles can consist of the same color threads or different ones. The final result depends on this.

Take a bunch of threads. Secure one end of it to some kind of protrusion or give it to a second person. Keep the thread taut and begin twisting it in one direction. It takes a long time to twist.

Continue to keep the thread taut, find the middle and bend the thread in the center. At the same time, align the edges of the bundle.

Release the center of the threads and let the cord twist itself. Run your hand along the cord several times, straightening any irregularities if necessary. Make a knot on the second side of the cord, thereby securing it from unraveling.

We decorate the ends of the belt for a rag doll.

Of course, you can just leave knots at the ends of the belt and stop there. But traditionally, they tried to decorate the ends of the belt in the national Russian costume richly: with tassels, pom-poms, additional weaving, etc.

We suggest decorating the belt for a rag doll with a regular brush.

Determine the length of the belt and make knots at each end.

Wrap the threads around your hand. Make two identical windings. Each winding on one end of the belt.

Cut the windings, you get two identical skeins of thread.

Divide one skein in half.

Prepare two more small pieces of thread.

Place the first additional piece of thread on the table.

We place threads from half of the skein on top perpendicular to the first thread.

Belt. Weaving from cords 3 options.

No. 1. Weaving from an even number of cords.

I welcome you and present to you a master class on weaving a belt from cords.

This is what the finished belt looks like. The length of the wicker part is 72 cm, the width is 1.7 cm, the length of the tails is 30-35 cm. To make it we will need: a tablet with a clip and any cord. I used soutache. For the indicated sizes, soutache was used with a cross-section of 4 mm, 6 cords 180 cm long. In general, this weaving can be made from any even number of cords.

We put the cords together, measure 30 cm from the edge and tie a knot. We attach the cords to a thick backing.

Now we cross the two central cords from right to left.

Then we place the one of the central cords that is at the bottom on top of the cord located immediately to the right of it.

Then we pass the same central cord from below the next, rightmost cord. Thus, the cords are constantly crossed in a checkerboard pattern.

Then we do the same with the central cord that is on top, only in a different sequence: first we pass the one next to the left from below.

And then on top of the one on the far left.

And now we cross the central cords again, again from right to left.

And we repeat the next step: we place the central cord that is below on top of the adjacent right one, and we place the central cord that was on top below the adjacent left one. We leave the outer cords as is!
That. two cords on the right, two on the left, and two in the center.

No. 2. Braided belt or bracelet. Weaving pattern of five cords.

Last time we learned how to weave from an even number of cords. Now let's see how to make a similar weave from an odd number (in in this case out of five).

We take five pieces of cord and secure them with a clamp. Let's roughly number them from one to five from left to right.

We cross cord No. 4 with cord No. 3 from right to left.

Then we place cord No. 3 on top of cord No. 5.

And we pass cord No. 4 under cord No. 2.

And then we pass cord No. 2 under cord No. 5. The cords always cross in a checkerboard pattern.

Place cord No. 4 on top of cord No. 1

And lastly, we pass cord No. 5 under cord No. 1. Thus, 2 cords ended up on the left, and three on the right. You need to pull them in different directions and tighten the weaving. Next we weave by hand!

To be continued!

No. 3. Weaving pattern of five cords. Part 2.

We will need: a tablet with a clip or a hard backing, decorative or leather cord(in the example, soutache 4 mm in cross-section is used).

After we pulled the weave together, this is what you should get. Now we separate the outermost, or upper, right cord, holding the rest with our hands.

And we pass this cord under the middle and above the bottom cords. We transfer it to left hand, tighten.

Now we have three cords on the left and two on the right. Next we separate the outermost, or upper left cord.

And we pass it under the middle and above the bottom cords. Transfer to right hand, tighten.

And so we continue to weave until we get the desired length.

This weaving can be made from any odd number of cords, then the width of the belt will increase. This is what a seven-cord weave looks like.

Issue No. 3, topic - weaving

You can decorate a woven belt with these wonderful tassels:

1. What I needed: a small work surface (in the photo - a side seat), scissors and a large needle (in the photo - a wool needle, with a large eye and a blunt nose). Although in the most field conditions, scissors and a pair of knees will be enough for you.

A woven belt and threads for the brush are also necessary - but it's so obvious that I didn't even bother photographing them.

2. Prepare a bundle of threads that will become a brush. To do this, I measure 40 turns on a template (notepad). The template is one and a half times wider than the length of the future brush.

3. The bundle is cut in ONE PLACE and neatly laid out on the table. Please note - it is twice as long as I need. Under the middle of the bundle lies an auxiliary thread, preferably in a contrasting color.

4. I place the end of the belt in the middle of the bundle and tie brown threads to it.

5. I tie it not anyhow, but so that the brown threads are evenly distributed around the belt, hugging it tightly.

6. Now I sew a bunch of threads to the belt. Please note that I inserted a brown thread into the needle, the same color as the whole brush. So that this thread is invisible in the finished product.

7. This is what the first stitch looks like:

8. I sew with large stitches from edge to edge, several times - so that each thread is caught. I tie the beginning and end of the sewing thread. I will remove the auxiliary thread, the red one, now, it is no longer needed.

9. Although you don’t even have to sew it on. Then tie a knot at the end of the belt and tie a bunch of threads tightly above the knot.

10. I bent the upper part of the bun down to create such a neat whisk. To do this, just lift the belt with one hand - the strings themselves hang in the right direction.

11. The panicle is already beautiful, but weak. To strengthen it, I make a “belt” out of thread for it. This thread will be clearly visible, so I choose it and arrange it so that it looks beautiful.

12. “The waist is ten centimeters higher than in peacetime.” I carefully put it in place...

13. And I wrap it tightly. Make 2 turns, or 20 - you decide for yourself.

14. I take my brushes to the hairdresser and trim the ends evenly:

15. I brake, pick up again and cut again:

16. And op-la-la! Here they are, our beauties!

Whether you need a cord for a bag, strings for a hat, or string for a bag, you have many options for making it.

Twisted cord

Calculate how long your lace should be. Add another third to this length, and then cut a piece of yarn four times longer.

Fold a piece of yarn in half and make a knot on each side.

Ask a friend to hold the folded end or hang the end from a doorknob.

Twist the yarn until the cord is woven very tightly, always trying to stretch it. Pinch the yarn in the middle, then fold it in half, trying to keep the cord stretched the entire time. (If you want to make a long cord, you will need a helper.)

Slowly release a few centimeters from the folded edge of the cord so that the cord itself unfolds back. As a result, you will get a strong cord of four threads (Fig. 1).

Braided cord

Calculate how long your lace should be, then add half more to that length.

You will need at least three pieces of yarn this length.

If you want to make a thick cord, you can double or even triple the number of threads. Tie the threads in a knot at one end, hang the knot on a hook, attach it to a board, or staple it. Start weaving a braid of three threads, alternately placing the right thread on the center one, then the left one on the center one, and so on. Once you have finished the braid, tie the other end in a knot. Cord tape Take two double needles and cast on three or four stitches.

* Knit them with knit stitches. Move the stitches back to the other end of the needle,

without turning over the work

. Pull the yarn tightly.

Repeat from * until you have tied the length of cord you need. This cord is similar to those cords that are knitted on special devices.

On stocking needles the cord is knitted faster.

You can buy a special device for knitting such cords, and with one turn of the handle you will quickly tie it. Examples of such devices:

1. Make a slip knot at the end of one strand and place the loop around one index finger. Take the second thread in the same hand and hold it together with the first.

Insert your other index finger into the loop and pull a new loop of the second color (Figure 2). 2. Remove from index finger first color thread, move

the ends of the thread in the other hand and pull the working end of the thread of the first color to tighten the loop (Figure 3). Continue to pull the contrasting color loop through the loop on finger and tighten old yarn until you have weaved a cord of the length you need. Cut both strands, then pull one end through last stitch

of a different color and tighten (Figure 4).

Lace tied on a spool From the end side, the coils are driven in at the same distance from

center 4 cloves (Fig. 5).

Carnations should be without caps, 0.5-0.7 mm high. The end of the thread is passed into the hole of the spool and pulled out from below (Fig. 6).

The thread from the ball is drawn around the nails (from left to right) so that a loop lies on the spool (Fig. 6, spool on the right).

A second thread is drawn around the top of the first nail, the first thread is picked up with a crochet hook and thrown over the nail.

There was a loop of thread left on the carnation, which was used to circle it a second time. Hook up the bottom thread near the next stud. This is done alternately on each stud. Each time, removing the loop from the nail, pull up the end of the thread from the bottom of the spool (Fig. 7).

So, moving the thread in a circle from one nail to another, they knit a cord that comes out from the bottom of the spool.

Having tied the cord of the required length, the loops are removed from the nails and secured together with a needle.

Beautiful cord in 1 minute from any thread

This cord of thread will be useful everywhere - as ties for children's clothes, home decoration, tying a gift instead of a ribbon, hanging a craft on the wall.

It is made quickly and easily from any thread, and this is its advantage, although compared to other braided cords, such a twisted cord is slightly less durable.

You can make a lace from just two threads or as thick as a finger or more, and the threads can be taken from sewing bobbins and thick yarn. You can mix threads of different colors. It is especially convenient to make a lace from floss threads if you need to choose a specific color.

children really like this “toy”, with the help of which they transfer kilometers of mother’s yarn to cords

And although many people know this decorative twisted cord, I made photo instructions for those who don’t know.

So, let's take the threads and cut them about 2.5 times longer than we need the cord (this is with a margin). The more twisted the threads themselves are, the tighter the lace will be.

In order for the lace of threads to be smooth and beautiful, the threads need to be aligned, for example, with a comb (1, 2). After alignment, tie knots at the ends of the bundle of threads (optional) (3).

We secure one end (hold it with one hand, or let an assistant hold it, or secure it with a clothespin), and twist the other end of the bundle of threads (4). If you need a cord of thread no longer than your arm span, then you can do without an assistant. It is better to twist in the same direction in which the fibers of the threads themselves are twisted, usually clockwise (5). If you are making a long cord, you can tie a bunch of thread to a drill, and then the cord will twist in a matter of seconds.

When twisting, be sure to keep the threads taut. It is better to twist it tighter, but so that the bundle of threads remains even (6).

Now we hold one end with one hand and find the middle with the other (7). Or, if the cord of thread is long, we fasten one end, and you or an assistant find the middle.

Fold in half, keeping the threads taut all the time. We fasten or firmly hold the ends of the threads with our hands (8).

Now we carefully begin to release the cord from the middle - it twists itself! (9)

Be sure to secure the end of the cord with a knot or tie it with a thread (11), otherwise it will simply unwind back. And if you need to shorten a twisted cord of thread, do not forget to secure the cord from unraveling before taking the scissors.

METHOD 2

1.Two-color cord- not difficult, but the result is amazing! The cord turns out to be round, dense, and very effective. It is woven from four threads in two colors. In my opinion, the perfect cord for keychains, phone cases, and anything else that needs to be hung.

It is worth weaving from fairly thick threads. If you use floss, then for one thread of cord you need to fold at least 2-3 skeins. A small difficulty is that, at first, you have to really concentrate to remember which thread to intertwine where and there are sorely not enough fingers to hold the threads, although there seem to be only four of them. But after the first five centimeters the cord becomes lighter, and after ten you don’t want to stop.

In the photo: the first cord is woven from floss (one strand of cord is equal to two skeins of floss), the second is from thick woolen threads, the third is from floss (one strand of cord is equal to four skeins of floss), the fourth is from thin satin ribbons(why not?).

So, let's weave. Take two threads of one color (light) and two threads of a different color (dark). We tie them together and secure them to something (I just put the loop on a pencil standing in a heavy stand).

We place the threads like this: one dark in the front, the second dark in the back, one light on the left, the second light on the right (photo 1). We intertwine the dark threads (switch places) counterclockwise. Then we intertwine the light threads clockwise.

At the same time, we hold the dark threads as before in front and behind, that is, we intertwine the light threads between the dark ones (photo 2). Then we intertwine the dark threads again, holding the light threads on the right and left. And so on. You'll stop getting confused after about five centimeters.

2.Two-color spiral cord - The weaving method is similar to the first, but the result is completely different. It's easy to do, especially if you've already mastered the previous method. The cord is twisted, thicker and more elastic. The scope of application is the same as that of the first cord. The number of threads and the starting position are the same. Only instead of interlacing the threads, as in the previous version, we tie the threads with a regular knot. First dark (between light threads), then light threads (between dark ones), then dark again. And so on.

During weaving, the cord gradually twists. In the photo: the first cord is woven from floss (one strand of cord is equal to two skeins of floss), the second is from thick woolen threads. A floss cord looks much more interesting and neat.

3."Knitted" cord- the most complex, since it requires that very “technically complex device”. This miracle of engineering is a wooden block with a hole and four staples (I was thinking that it could be shown in some kind of intellectual program like “what? where? when?” and ask the question “what is this?”, I’m almost sure that no one will give an answer).

So, you can buy a device (for example, Prym, like mine), or you can make it yourself, just by driving these very staples into a wooden reel (surely, husbands can easily cope with this), or you can not have staples, but just nails (with You can do this without your husband), but removing the loops will be a little more difficult. You will also need a hook or knitting needle to hook these loops. The cord turns out to be round, hollow inside, as if knitted. Those in the photo are woven from floss one skein thick, the orange cord is made from thin woolen threads. If you take thick threads, the cord will be dense. I read that even bag handles are woven this way, using, of course, the appropriate threads for weaving.

So, let's weave. We pass the end of the thread through the hole (we will periodically tighten the loops of our cord from below using this thread) and wind the working thread around all four staples (photos 1-2). We place the working thread in front of the first staple (photo 3), grab the loop with a knitting needle (photo 4) and throw it over the working thread and through the staple (inside). In this case, the working thread forms a new loop (photo 5). We do the same with the next loop and so on in a circle. Periodically we pull the thread sticking out of the hole in our device, thereby tightening the loops.

4. Chain- simple. I don’t remember who taught it to me, but I’ve known it since childhood. The cord turns out to be flat, durable, on one side it looks like a chain, and on the other side it looks like a pigtail. You can make thick cords, say, from woolen threads or one or two skeins of floss, but if you need a thin cord to make a small but strong loop, then you simply cannot do without this method, because it allows you to weave even from thin sewing threads or one strand of floss! Another extremely useful thing about this method is that the cord is woven directly onto the product, and not sewn to it later. This is why I sometimes choose him.

So, let's weave. We fix the thread on the wrong side of our product and bring it to the front side. Then we make a small stitch, passing the needle into the fabric and again bringing it to the surface as close as possible to the place where the needle first came out, but do not tighten the thread in this stitch to the end, but leave a loop (photo 1). We grab the working thread with our fingers and pull it into the loop. Pull in the direction of the arrow (photo 2), tightening the first loop and forming a new loop from the working thread. The new loop formed in photo 3

We again grab the working thread with our fingers, insert it into the loop and tighten it, forming a new loop. And so on until we get the lace of the desired size. If we need to make a loop (and using this method it is good to make them), then we stick a needle into the place where the needle first comes out and fasten the thread from the inside out. It is convenient to weave if the fabric is fixed motionless and all manipulations are carried out with good thread tension, holding your hands above the fabric.

5.Simple twisted cord- the simplest and most famous. Surely all needlewomen know him, but since I’m writing about cords, I’ll mention him too. Thanks to this method, excellent decorative cords of any thickness are quickly obtained. Great for decorating pinkies, decorative bows, ties, etc. Mixing threads of several colors gives a very interesting result.

So, let's weave. We fix one end of the thread motionless, and twist the thread from the other end. The tighter you twist, the more turns you will get on your future cord. Then we connect the ends of the thread, folding the cord in half. The cord twists itself. All that remains is to straighten the creases, if they suddenly form, and tie knots at the ends so that the cord does not unravel.

That's all. I hope it will be useful for someone!

Due to the great interest and demands that we, the Fair’s craftsmen, have recently placed on the packaging of our products, I wanted to write this master class on making laces in various ways.

Where can they be used, you ask? They are absolutely necessary for the design and decoration of our creations: for pinkies, for decorative bows, ties, and in particular, for example, for attaching tags, labels, business cards to products.

Of course, stores have a large assortment of similar products, BUT we are for handmade work in all its forms, even in weaving laces.

Manufacturing time is from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the weaving method.

Difficulty – 2.

So, materials: various threads - wool, cotton, floss, etc.

Option #1. Simple twisted cord. I think almost all needlewomen know him. It is quite light and fast, the cords can be made of any thickness. Mixing threads of several colors gives a very interesting result.

Option #2: Two-color cord. The cord turns out to be round, dense, and very effective. It is woven from four threads in two colors. It is worth weaving from fairly thick threads. If you use floss, then for one thread of cord you need to fold at least 2-3 skeins. At first, of course, there will be some difficulties with coordination and there will be a catastrophic lack of fingers to hold the threads, although there seem to be only four of them. But after the first few centimeters of the cord, everything will go like clockwork.

The photo shows laces made from different types of threads: wool and floss. A floss cord looks much more interesting and neat.

I will show you the design that I used to secure the base of the cord and for the necessary tension of the threads.

Take two threads of one color (light) and two threads of a different color (dark). We tie them together and secure them to something. We place the threads like this: one dark in the front, the second dark in the back, one light on the left, the second light on the right.

We intertwine the dark threads (switch places) counterclockwise. Then we intertwine the light threads clockwise. At the same time, we hold the dark threads as before in front and behind, that is, we intertwine the light threads between the dark ones. Then we intertwine the dark threads again, holding the light threads on the right and left. And so on.

Option No. 3: Two-color spiral cord. The weaving method is similar to the first, but the result is completely different.

It's easy to do, especially if you've already mastered the previous method. The cord is twisted, thicker and more elastic. The number of threads and the starting position are the same. Only instead of interlacing the threads, as in the previous version, we tie the threads with a regular knot. First dark (between light threads), then light threads (between dark ones), then dark again. And so on. During weaving, the cord gradually twists. There are also two thread options in the photo.

Option No. 4: Looped cord. In my opinion it is quite interesting and beautiful. It is obtained by interlacing elongated loops.

It is better to use thicker threads or in several layers. We secure the ends and make two loops. We throw one on top of the other and tighten the one on top.

Option No. 5 Simple chain. I have known this weaving method since childhood.

So, let's weave. We fix the thread on the wrong side of our product and bring it to the front side. Then we make a small stitch, passing the needle into the fabric and again bringing it to the surface as close as possible to the place where the needle first came out, but do not tighten the thread in this stitch to the end, but leave a loop. We grab the working thread with our fingers and pull it into the loop. Pull and tighten the first loop and form a new loop from the working thread.

Of course, for sure - these are not all methods of weaving cords and laces and the post can be supplemented, but these are the simplest, most understandable and most often used.

And of course the practical application:

I hope the master class will be useful for someone!

Belt- a strip of fabric or other material, cord or a rope that is usually tied around a person's waist.

The belt is the oldest of accessories. It has always had not only a purely functional, but also a decorative meaning.

It supports the clothing covering the lower body.

A thin belt in the form of a cord or rope, often with tassels at the ends, was called a girdle. And the wide one, made from a long piece of material, is a sash.
And apparently the cord not such a trivial thing,
When nothing in it seems like just a trifle.

Twisted belt

A twisted belt for a knitted dress is a simple twisted cord made of yarn. The length of the belt is quite long. Quite big - what is it?

How much fine yarn should I measure for a twisted belt? What is the most convenient and best way to do this, so that you don’t miss the mark with the length of the finished belt?
In order to twist a belt, you need to measure out a little more than six meters of yarn. It is convenient to measure in flywheel or simple fathoms, which are easy to count.

Old Russian folk unit of measurement.

Mach fathom - the distance between the outstretched fingers of outstretched (swung) hands.

For a twisted belt we need to measure 3.5 - 4 fathoms. You can always shorten the belt, but vice versa...

To reinforce the shoulder seam on a knitted item, I use a thin twisted cord of yarn.
And I wrote that: A loosely twisted cord is a problem.
A tightly twisted cord is also a problem. You can describe how to make a twisted cord from yarn... You can describe it, but it’s tiring to read.
She promised to make a video lesson “How to twist a cord from yarn” and show simple and available methods making cord from thin yarn. I kept my promise.

A twisted cord made of yarn is a unique thing.

The reinforcement for the shoulder seam is also a cord. The length is not great, but the curl is different. Tassels
made from yarn for children's openwork socks are also attached to a cord.
The ties for a children's hat with ears are also a cord. You can use a twisted cord of yarn to decorate your products.
The cord can easily be used to decorate gift wrapping.
Replace the ready-made handles on the gift bag with handles made from twisted cord, and your packaging will become original.
You can sew or knit children's toys and make toy animal tails from string. You can make a talisman (talisman) from red wool thread. There are a lot of ideas.
And you can twist a cord not only from yarn. For example, in the photo I show a twisted cord
from a strip of chiffon. I used this cord to decorate a covered button.

Watch the video lesson “How to twist a cord from yarn” and twist the laces of different lengths.

Enjoy watching!

The craft is not a rocker, it will not weigh down your shoulders, but will feed you on its own.

Thank you for reading this lesson to the end! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for your warm letters and reviews!

Good luck! And all the most magical and fabulously kind to you. See you in the comments.

HOW TO MAKE A LACE. A LACE FROM THREAD IN 5 MINUTES.

These are the detailed instructions I got, although making a twisted lace from threads is so simple and quick.

And you can make a twisted cord even faster using this interesting device: you tie the threads, twist the handle and get a finished cord of the required length.

I haven’t seen such a device in our stores, this photo is from the site halcyonyarn.com, by the way, it says that children really like this “toy”, with the help of which they transfer kilometers of their mother’s yarn to cords. If anyone has seen a similar device in Russian stores, please write in the comments.

It is made quickly and easily from any thread, and this is its advantage, although compared to other braided cords, such a twisted cord is slightly less durable.

  • if you take threads of different colors, the twisted cord looks like melange (in my photo it’s gray and pink)
  • If you need to make a two-color cord so that separate bundles of threads of different colors are intertwined, then you need to take two bundles of threads of the same thickness, but different colors. Tie them in a knot and then twist them as if it were a solid bundle of threads, and the middle of the bundle will be a knot. Twist, fold in half, holding the middle knot, and the two-color lace is ready.
  • It is not necessary to fold the twisted threads exactly in half for them to twist into a lace. You can fold it three times or even more, try it, you just need a little sleight of hand. But the cord is obtained with more frequent turns and is denser.
