We work carefully

How to mend if there is no hole

If abrasions appear, but there is no hole yet, do not allow it to appear. You have to strengthen the place of clearly visible abrasion.

  • Choose pieces of denim fabric, special fabric glue, or web-shaped tape that can be glued with an iron.
  • Apply self-adhesive tape from the inside, a piece of fabric on it, and iron on the patch. You can put it on top, then glue it. It all depends on the amount of wear.
  • Sew along the perimeter using a machine so that the patch lasts longer.
  • There are ready-made patches for jeans on sale, one side of which already has self-adhesive tape.
  • If the seam is unraveling, machine sew it or sew it by hand with a blind stitch.

If you rub it between your legs, then you can mend and manually if you don't have a machine.

How to remove or repair a hole in jeans?

What to do with torn jeans and how to fix a hole? Fabric damage most often appears on factory models that have been treated with chemical compounds, for example, the popular “boiled” jeans. Due to exposure high temperatures and chemistry, the structure of the fabric deteriorates, which leads to the formation of a hole.

Teenagers who discover damage, for example, on their knee, may well turn the hole into a stylish and fashionable look.

Important! Of course, it is necessary that the gap has a harmonious appearance. To do this, you can enlarge the hole a little and “ruffle” the edges. In general, to give jeans a fashionable and finished look. Torn models usually have several tears, which are located asymmetrically on the knees, hips or below the knees.

If you are not a stranger to bare body parts in pants, then you can use the following methods. The tips and tricks below will help you answer the question of how to repair jeans on the knee and more.

Method number 1. Darning by hand

This method is perfect for rectangular or corner-shaped slots:

  1. Buy threads that are identical in color to the fabric. Lighter and darker colors will not be suitable, as the repair area will look untidy, thereby attracting unnecessary attention.
  2. Mend horizontal holes by hand using small, dense stitches. Take your time, each stitch should be equal to the previous one and be located quite tightly to it.

Important! There should be no distance between the stitches, otherwise all efforts will be pointless.

Method number 2. Patch

Look for a piece of fabric that will match the color of your pants. Ideally, the patch will be identical to the denim fabric.

The process of repairing jeans using a patch is as follows:

  1. Determine the shape and size of the hole.
  2. Using the data obtained, cut out a blank from the prepared material, allowing 1-2 cm at a time. If the hole has an intricate appearance, then the future patch should still have the correct shape.
  3. Finish the edges of the cut piece manually or using sewing machine.
  4. Place the patch under the tear. The edges of the fabric should be the same distance from the hole.
  5. Secure the patch with needles.
  6. Baste by hand.
  7. If the patch does not wrinkle, then sew it on completely and carefully.

Important! If you decide that this idea suits you as an option, what to do if your jeans are torn, take note of these useful tips:

  • If you couldn't find a piece of fabric that perfectly matches the color of your jeans, then play with contrast. For example, on men's jeans put a patch made of leather, and for women's patches - wool, lace, chiffon, organza, thick fabric with a pattern. To make the unusual patch look original and harmonious, make another one of the same kind. This option is suitable for those girls who are tormented by the question of how to repair jeans on the knee. Contrasting fabric will look stylish and fashionable. The edges of unusual patches can not be processed, but left “shaggy” or decorated with rhinestones.
  • Patches can be made in original shapes. Inserts in the form of a rhombus and a star look good.

Method No. 3. Application

Using different fabrics and accessories, you can turn damaged trousers into a work of art. For example, to repair children's models, you can use various applications in the form of cartoon characters.

You can buy the application ready-made or make it yourself.

Important! Factory appliqués have an adhesive base and are easily attached to the fabric with a hot iron. But as a result of several washes, they may come off, so it is better to secure them with threads.

If you decide to make the applique yourself, then use different materials:

  • Jeans and leather combine most effectively.
  • You can also use beads, decorative buttons, braid and simply fabric of various textures.

Use your imagination and create. Floral motifs will add elegance to the product, and ethnic ones will add style. Golden shades will make jeans look luxurious. And cats, fish and butterflies will turn jeans into a cute and delicate thing.

Important! If the applique is placed on a piece denim and sew it onto the hole in the form of a pocket, then you can also increase the functionality of the trousers. A pocket is never superfluous.

Method number 4. Plastering

The method of masking a hole using a sewing machine is called stuffing. It is indispensable for repairs men's trousers, since the sewing machine has the ability to sew stitches in forward and reverse directions. This method involves laying lines at a very close distance from each other. As a result, the threads simply “clog” the hole.

Important! Plastering is considered the highest quality repair, but more complex.

For repair you will need:

  • Threads are the same color as the fabric.
  • A piece of denim or thick fabric for a patch.
  • A piece of adhesive fabric (non-woven fabric).
  • Scissors.
  • Iron.
  • Sewing machine and needle No. 100.

How to restore jeans? Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Make a patch from the prepared material.
  2. On the wrong side of the trousers, apply a patch to the hole. The piece of fabric should be slightly larger than the hole.
  3. Place adhesive fabric on the patch with the rough base facing down, that is, the adhesive base. The interlining should be slightly larger than the flap.
  4. Place any piece of cotton fabric on the adhesive fabric so that the glue does not contaminate the soleplate of the iron.
  5. Wet the surface with water.
  6. Iron everything with a hot iron. To make work easier, place a towel roll under your jeans.
  7. Remove cotton fabric and check the quality of work. The adhesive fabric should stick well.
  8. Set your sewing machine to zigzag.
  9. Select the maximum stitch width.
  10. Increase the stitch frequency.
  11. On the front side of the product, make the first line along the hole in the forward direction, and then in the opposite direction. One line should overlap the other by 0.1-0.2 cm.
  12. Carry out similar manipulations until you completely sew up the damaged area. The line should extend not only onto the patch, but also beyond its edges.
  13. Upon completion of the piece, pull the threads to the wrong side and tie knots so that the stitches do not unravel.
  14. Trim off excess adhesive fabric.
  15. From the front side, trim off the existing fringe.
  16. Iron and parfait the darned area.

Important! If you prefer this method to properly repair your jeans, use these tips:

  • If the model sewing machine does not have the ability to sew efficiently in the reverse direction, then when working, simply turn the product and sew only straight.
  • It is very important to choose threads that match the tone, so take several similar shades from the store, and before the piecing process, try all the options on a separate piece of fabric and choose the most suitable one.
  • You may not get a quality stitch the first time, so do everything step by step. First make stitches and see if there are any gaps. If there are, then go over them again with a machine stitch.
  • A piece made with threads of a contrasting color will look very interesting and creative. Such work will look unusual and attract attention.
  • You can also use a lightweight method of plastering. You will need a piece of adhesive fabric and thread to match the jeans. Glue adhesive fabric (described above) on the wrong side, and lay several zigzag stitches on the front side. Finally, cut off the excess adhesive fabric, and the hole will be almost invisible.

How to fix scuffs and holes between your legs?

The most difficult area is the scuffs and holes between the legs. Of course, you can take the most radical approach and cut off the legs, turning your jeans into shorts. But most of us still want to keep our pants alive. There are two options for “resurrecting” denim.

Option #1. Patch

As in the previous methods, you need to select the material for the patch. The fabric should have the same structure and color, but if you are not afraid of experiments, then use contrasting fabric or leather. In addition, it is necessary to select threads that match the jeans and that directly match the patch.

  1. Assess the size of the hole.
  2. Prepare the hole: cut off the excess threads and give the hole the desired shape.
  3. Prepare a patch that is larger than the size of the hole. If the fabric around the hole is shabby and problematic, then it is better to play it safe and cut the patch so that it covers the entire problem area. Don't forget to leave a margin for seams (1-2 cm).
  4. Seal the edges of the patch so that they do not start to fall out.
  5. Turn your jeans inside out.
  6. Pin the patch so that the outside of the patch touches the inside of the pants. Check what the result will look like.
  7. Sew on the patch using basting threads.
  8. Sew the patch using small stitches or a zigzag stitch. Sew a few stitches back and forth across the entire area of the hole.
  9. Remove the pins and trim off any excess fabric.

Important! A more reliable option is to stitch the patch around the perimeter from the inside out, and after that, stitch the hole directly. In this case, even if the threads burst, the hole will be securely hidden.

Option #2. Using inserts

If jeans are frayed on both sides or the hole is quite voluminous, then it will not be possible to hide such a problem using the first option. In this case, you need to sew up the holes using inserts.

To begin, prepare the following material:

  • Threads in two colors: to match the fabric and to match the stitching.
  • Fabric for inserts.

You can remove a hole in jeans as follows:

  1. Open the inner seam by about 20 cm, and the central back seam by about 10-15 cm. If there are holes on both sides, then open both side seams (inside along the leg).
  2. Remove the threads and put the hole in order, trim the edges, cut off the protruding threads.
  3. Smooth the damaged area thoroughly, unrolling the seams as you do so.
  4. Place the fabric for inserting on the hole and decide on the size. Don't forget to leave extra fabric for the seam.
  5. Cut out the desired area.
  6. Carefully stitch the insert to the trousers.
  7. Sew up the ripped parts of the trousers.

Important! If the jeans are frayed on both sides, then for a high-quality repair, additionally use an adhesive lining based on knitwear. From the inside, place it so that it overlaps the pants by about 2 cm. It is advisable to place the adhesive lining on the front side as well.

Prepare two identical templates for each pant leg so that they are mirrored. Apply the patches on the front side, baste and stitch with a double stitch.

How to fix ripped jeans on the butt?

In this area, tears can appear not only due to frayed fabric. Very often we can get caught on a nail on a bench and irreparably tear the fabric. Repair in

This section of the trousers is not as complicated as in previous cases. In addition, you can always hide the hole with a patch pocket and transform your clothing model.

If this option does not suit you, then you can simply sew up the hole. All of the above methods are suitable for this, in particular:

  • For unnoticeable holes, use gizmo.
  • For large holes, apply a patch.
  • For an ordinary crack in the fabric, gluing it with non-woven fabric or other adhesive fabric is sufficient. Cut a piece of interlining to the size of the hole and apply it with the adhesive side to the hole. Iron with a hot iron.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment, because if you add a little creativity, you can create very bright and unique designs from denim. And even if you can’t mend a damaged section of jeans, you can always make original shorts, a bag or funny toy. And pieces of denim are always useful for decorating other clothes. But still, we hope that thanks to our advice, you were able to choose the most suitable option original decoration of the hole, and now your favorite jeans will delight you with their uniqueness and novelty for a long time.

This problem is known to many: one awkward move - and the belt loop on your jeans is torn out “with meat”... You shouldn’t be upset: you can repair the hole that has formed in your jeans and carefully return the belt loop to its place in no more than half an hour. The main thing is to carefully select the threads so that they match the color of the denim from which your jeans are made. If the resulting hole is quite large, then it is better to choose a piece of denim for repair so that it matches the color of the jeans. This way the repair site will be almost invisible.

You will need:

A piece of denim for repair (this piece should cover the hole with a margin with its area);

Steamer;

- “cobweb”;

Sewing threads that best match the color of your jeans;

Threads matching the color of the threads used to stitch the jeans;

Sewing machine;

The working technology is as follows:

1. Iron the torn area with steam from the front and back, straightening all the torn threads of the fabric so that they cover the tear as much as possible.

2. From the inside, place a piece of denim fabric for repair so that it covers the hole with a margin, and iron it onto the “web”. Iron on the front and back sides.

3. Using a ripper or small scissors, remove the torn fabric and threads with which it was sewn from the belt loop.

4. Using a thread that matches the color of the jeans, mend the hole using a machine, tightly running forward and backward stitches in the desired place. Grab not only the place of the tear, but also the fabric nearby, so the darning will be stronger.

5. Sew the belt loop securely with threads that match the color of the threads used to stitch the jeans.

6. From the inside out, carefully trim the remaining free edges of the shred.

One day a friend comes to me and says, I’m in trouble, my favorite jeans are cracked along the seam((... And he shows me jeans that are cracked, and even near the seam... You can’t just sew it up, everything will be visible...

I then remembered how many girls I know, who like to wear tight-fitting jeans every day, complained that the inside of the thighs often rubbed out and became unusable very quickly... I hope that at least one of these girls will read my publication and be able to independently extend the life of your favorite thing.

What will we talk about - in short, this technique is good for healing lacerated wounds on jeans, that is, when the area of the damaged area does not allow you to simply take and sew the edges of the hole. So what we have:

Men's jeans with an unattractive hole

What is needed to eliminate it:

Threads to match the jeans, brown threads like the ones on the seams, scissors for cutting threads (I use them to rip seams), dublerin - an adhesive material (this is a thing like fabric, only thin, and on one side there is a special glue for fabric applied to it, in the form of strips or dots) there are different types of it, but for this operation any, not very dense, dublerin will suit us. You can buy it at any sewing store, it is sold in linear meters, like fabric.

And the jeans are like new!

First, we need to select the threads exactly to match. Here's how to do it:

And the jeans are like new!

And the jeans are like new!

One thread will not say anything; it can merge with the background color, even if it differs from it. You need a tight bundle of thread. In the photo I deliberately showed the wrong threads so that the difference would be noticeable.

And the jeans are like new!

And the jeans are like new!

Now we need to glue the area with the hole with double tape. To do this, cut off a piece of double leather slightly larger than the hole, turn the jeans inside out, and lay them on ironing board so that it is convenient to pick up the iron. We apply the dublerin to the hole, like a patch, with the adhesive side to the fabric (the adhesive side is where it shines), fix it with pins

And the jeans are like new!

Gently glue it with a hot iron, possibly from the front side.

And the jeans are like new!

We take out the pins, check the quality of the sizing, and iron it again if necessary.

Next we start darning. Before darning the scuff, I decided to fasten the edges of the hole; to do this, I put out a zigzag stitch on the machine, adjust the maximum zigzag width, a small stitch length (from 1 to 2 mm) and lay the stitch back and forth along the crack

And the jeans are like new!

And the jeans are like new!

And the jeans are like new!

And the jeans are like new!

Sorry, the photo with a zigzag stitch didn’t want to load, but it’s not that important, we won’t darn with a zigzag (although it’s faster) but with a straight stitch, so that the repair is of the highest quality and inconspicuous. A straight stitch will look more natural. So, set the straight stitch and stitch length. I measured the length of the weave stitches on the surface of the fabric and set the stitch length to the same length.

And the jeans are like new!

And the jeans are like new!

And the jeans are like new!

Now you can darn. The stitch needs to be laid along the warp thread, in other words, along the light stripes that are on the jeans.

And the jeans are like new!

We just stitch, and when the line goes beyond the fray, we go back. To do this, you need to press the reverse lever (button) of the machine. We try to lay the lines strictly parallel and as close to each other as possible, while we need to try to ensure that the length of each line is different, for example, some lines may go beyond the fray, this technique will make our darning “blurry” and it will be less noticeable.

And the jeans are like new!

Well, and the end result:

And the jeans are like new!

Please don't judge me harshly - maybe I'm not very good at presenting information, but I tried very hard. This is of course not the MK of a luxurious couture dress (I think there will be in the future))) but, hopefully, it will be useful to someone...

Thank you for attention!

If you know other ways, write in the comments...

Hello! A hole in the knee suits young people, but does not suit older people. You can turn on your imagination and create new thing, which will decorate your wardrobe. Let's look at how to sew jeans at the knee.

Darning a hole on the knee

Teenagers, having discovered a frayed “knee”, may well be satisfied with the new look stylish look. In this case, you also need to make sure that everything looks harmonious. Often you have to “tear” its edges or increase its size to give the product a finished look. You can make 2-3 more asymmetrical holes below or above the knees.

If you are not satisfied with the sparkle of your naked body, then start darning.

Gently mend the small horizontal cut by hand using small, very tight stitches.

The main thing is not to rush, because Each stitch should lie evenly, located close to the previous one. There should be no distance between the stitches, otherwise all efforts will remain without the desired result.

You can darn by machine:

  • Set the machine to a straight stitch;
  • Connect the two sides of the cut so close that they are close to each other, sew parallel lines;
  • Steam the area being repaired so that it becomes invisible.
  • Next, apply parallel seams tightly to each other.
  • Lay the first line, which will begin 1 cm before the beginning of the edge of the hole, and will end by going beyond it, also about 1 cm.
  • When the first seam is laid, the product must be turned over, leaving the foot to hold it.
  • Then repeat the entire process until the entire hole is stitched.

Advice! Don't pull the fabric too hard, or you'll end up with waves that will be difficult to smooth out.

If the hole is in the form of a cut, then it is easiest to repair. Apply the “stuff” type of darning.

Operating procedure:

  • Choose threads to match the tone.
  • Open the seam on the side opposite the tear.
  • Cut a piece of denim fabric.
  • Place a piece of interlining directly onto the hole from the inside out, baste, and iron.
  • Use the machine to stitch back and forth to fill the hole.
  • Then you should go to reverse, move the fabric the width of one thread.
  • After completing the entire process, use scissors to trim the threads, remaining interlining and patches.
  • Sew the side seam. Smooth out.

If you need to leave mohras, then mend it as follows:

  • Take a 2 cm piece of denim larger size holes, place on the hole.
  • Place adhesive fabric on top so that there is a little more patch.
  • Place a thin cloth on top, sprinkle with water, and iron.
  • From the front side, go through a zigzag. With matching threads it will be unnoticeable.
  • Trim the remaining fabric on the glue.

How to decorate a hole?

This process is the most favorite among tailors; here you can fantasize as much as you like!

Using factory application:

  • apply adhesive cloth to the tear;
  • Place the applique on it if the applique does not have an adhesive base;
  • iron;
  • To prevent it from coming off when washing, make a few stitches around the perimeter by hand or sew on a machine.

Masking a hole without a patch

Not everyone likes patches on their knees; you can do without a patch. If your sewing machine has a forward-backward function, then darning will not be difficult.

Insert matching threads, set the widest stitch and sew back and forth until you have covered the entire gap. But this way you can only mend the smallest cut; for large holes you cannot do without patching.

To make the trousers look more original, do the trick contrasting threads.

DIY application

A lot of pleasure comes from work when you have to show your imagination. Make the applique with your own hands, then the new thing will be a joy for you!

Make an applique from skin, because denim and the leather look very original.

You can apply t Canvas of a different color, beads, braid, multi-colored buttons. Girls can even use lace.

Look elegant floral motifs, A ethnic motives give style. Favorite butterflies and fish will turn your pants into a cute, cozy little thing. And gold will add a unique charm.

On your knees, you can create for yourself more than one original thing that will diversify your wardrobe.
