Dress- one of my favorites women's clothing at all times. Every year everything appears more styles and its styles, which significantly complicates the choice. In order to choose the perfect dress for yourself, it is not enough to have taste and style; you also need to know a sea of subtleties, which are usually only known to professionals in their field.

Before you go to the store, you need to decide on your goals and approximate type of dress. The purpose of the purchase could be a trip to the library, for everyday wear, a co-op, or even a wedding. In this sense, there are four types of dresses:

  1. Casual dress. Just by the name it becomes clear that such an outfit will be worn every day. Casual outfits are great for going with friends to the cinema, shopping, or just walking. They don't attract special attention, are not distinguished by an abundance of rhinestones, sparkles and sequins, and do not have a provocative appearance. This dress can be described in a few words: modest, light, comfortable.
  2. Cocktail dresses. These outfits are designed to be worn to co-ops, holidays or parties. There are extravagant patterns and cutouts. A cocktail outfit emphasizes the femininity and sophistication of its owner.
  3. Evening dresses. Particularly elaborate outfits for special occasions. Beautiful dresses for special occasions they differ in length, material, cut. They are often made from chiffon, satin, silk or velvet. Dresses made of lace and guipure are currently trending. You should not skimp on such an outfit, since at a gala evening it should highlight all the advantages and charms.
  4. Dress on different cases. These clothes are suitable for parties, everyday wear, and the office. It is not recommended to wear it every day.

Dress length

An important feature when choosing a dress is its length. According to this parameter, all dresses can be divided into three types:

  1. Maxi ( Long dresses). Ideal for special occasions and beach walks. For other purposes floor length dress it won't be convenient. It's important to know that long dresses They don't look good on short girls.
  2. Midi (Medium dresses). There are mixed opinions about this length. Such a dress should be chosen with extreme caution, as it can spoil the figure and reduce height. Best option medium-length dresses - just above or below the knee.
  3. Mini ( Short dresses). Favorite length for young girls and more. Perfect for parties, walks and everyday wear. However, having put on such a dress, all possible flaws and imperfections of the legs will immediately become visible. Short and full legs They are unlikely to look beautiful in such clothes. In addition to figure flaws, an obstacle to wearing a mini dress will be your respectful social status, because if you are in a serious position, then this outfit can cause condemnation from your subordinates.

Dress style

It is the style that determines: will the dress suit a certain figure, will it highlight the pluses and hide the flaws? It makes no sense to purchase an outfit that exposes all the defects of your figure to everyone. There are several types of styles that you must include in your wardrobe. Here are the most current styles:

  1. Sheath dress. The optimal style for everyday wear. It is distinguished by elegance, femininity, severity and at the same time does not attract attention. And if it is decorated with an extraordinary design, it will be suitable for going to various parties.
  2. Empire style. A true example of femininity and beauty, it ideally emphasizes the charms of the female breast. Fashionable dresses in the Empire style can different lengths and at the same time they are perfect for almost every figure. To highlight your waist, it is recommended to choose a dress with a waist.
  3. Robe dress. A casual outfit that is comfortable to wear and versatile. Suitable for going to the cinema, library, bowling alley. Often they prefer to wear such clothes at home, instead of a robe.
  4. Cut-off dress. It combines a bottom in the form of a strict skirt and a top in the form of a shirt. The style is similar to a case and is also suitable for everyday wear. A cut-off dress beautifully emphasizes the waist and highlights all the charms of the figure.
  5. Shirt dress. This comfortable and light dress has a loose fit. The outfit is intended for daily wear. Pairs well with jeans and lacings.
  6. Black dress. Every representative of the fair sex knows about this dress and almost everyone has it in their wardrobe for a special occasion. Small black dress adds sophistication and elegance to the look. It should not be flashy or full of decorations. Key features: length just below or above the knee and a fitted fit.

Types of dress cuts

This outfit is also chosen depending on the cut:

  • Fitted cut. Clothes of this cut are suitable for women with curvy hips and a proportional build.
  • Cut-off cut. Corrects the figure in the abdominal area, emphasizing the waistline, bust and hips.
  • Straight cut. Hides the main defects of the figure.
  • One-piece cut. Suitable for a good figure, does not hide flaws.

Choosing dress fabric

When choosing a dress, the fabric from which it is made also plays an important role. All fabrics are usually divided according to the seasons. IN summer time Cotton, chiffon, linen, guipure are relevant. Also relevant in warm weather knitted dress . In autumn, they wear clothes made of polyester, knitwear, and wool. IN winter time Mohair or flannel dresses are suitable. In spring, knitwear and silk are recommended.

Dress color scheme

Everyone knows that color can both highlight the advantages and disadvantages of a figure, can make you stand out from the crowd, or can create an inconspicuous image. Experts select the color of the dress to suit the type of person.

  1. Summer girl. Has green, gray or brown eyes, brown hair and snow-white skin. The colors of their clothes are ideal: pink, blue, gray and green. Not recommended to wear red dress.
  2. Autumn girl. The owner of dark gray dark green eyes with dark curls and dark skin. Orange, brown and olive shades are optimal. It is not recommended to purchase a light-colored dress.
  3. Winter girl. Has pink skin dark hair and eyes. Best colors: blue, cyan, violet.
  4. Spring girl. The owner of fair skin, with blue or green eyes and white hair. Recommended shades: warm, light, bed. Cool colors don't suit.

In the process of choosing a dress, you first need to decide on the purpose of wearing it. Next, choose the style and cut to suit your figure, respectively. We choose fabrics and colors last.

Sewing isn't that hard?

Has anyone encountered such a situation when a stranger is next to you wearing the same outfit or accessory as you? I think that at least once in my life, but this still happened. And what feelings overwhelmed you at that moment? Surprise, interest, comparison, irritation?

An outfit is a preface to a woman, and sometimes the entire book.

We all want to look beautiful, fashionable, neat, and, as they say, “brand new!” When buying outfits (in boutiques, specialty stores, or at the market), we don’t think about the fact that the situation described above could happen tomorrow.
Clothes are imported on a large scale, and the clothing industry is practically in decline and is in no hurry to change its status, since it is not profitable due to the import of cheap things into the country, for example, from China or India, which, unfortunately, are in great demand among the main masses of the population.
But you can sew clothes or make an accessory yourself. In the end, it will cost less and, most importantly, you will have an individual, unique and high-quality item.

We were given the basics at school. The rest can be easily and simply learned, having such an inexhaustible source of information as the Internet, where not only the progress of work is described, but also illustrated material and even video (this is sometimes a very important and necessary part for self-study). Specialized sites, forums and blogs provide such step by step instructions that they can be freely used in the school curriculum.

Where can I get the pattern?

Today this is not a problem, and there are many options. Let's start with the most trusted one, this is the popular magazine “Burda Moden”. In general, it is a desktop reference for many beginners. After all, the first issue of a unique manual from Burda magazine is dedicated to the main stages of cutting and sewing. The latest issues of this magazine are sold at newsstands. The patterns are a separate paper insert that can be easily removed and is convenient for further work.
There are also other sewing magazines on sale with ready-made patterns, but, alas, they are not as accurate as those in Burda and you have to adjust them to suit your figure.

The second most convenient are electronic patterns on CDs with clothing models, which can be found in specialized sewing stores or ordered on the appropriate websites. The patterns are formed into mini-collections - denim, men's, children's, evening dresses, etc. There are also themed ones, which include only one type of clothing. The advantage of discs is that the pattern can be easily adjusted to a different size when entering the basic parameters of the figure, while maintaining its accuracy. The finished patterns can be printed on a printer, and the program itself will take care of numbering the sheets.
Another option is to order ready-made patterns by email from sites such as “Burda Moden” (there are plenty of analogues and can be easily found in a search engine). It is clear that you need to pay for them. The only negative is that the explanation for the patterns is in a foreign language.
And again, don’t forget about the Internet, where there is an abyss of everything and everyone, for every taste and size. The only problem is that it will take a lot of time and traffic until you find what you need and download it from a file hosting service.

We sew for ourselves, our loved ones and everything for the home!

In addition to the fact that the ability to sew allows you to make beautiful things for yourself, it opens up new opportunities for home decor. You can decorate or remake bed linen, curtains and panels at your own discretion and taste, make furniture covers, sew pillows of different shapes and sizes, decorate kitchen utensils in the same style (apron, potholders, towels, tablecloth, napkins, plate stand and etc.).

Mothers who know how to sew, in general, automatically avoid many problems with clothing for the child. Just think about the issue of a stage costume for a performance in a kindergarten, because buying something like this is not cheap, and renting it is sometimes unjustified in terms of price and appearance. And, as everyone knows, the ability to wear clothes neatly is not passed down by genes, but comes only as one grows up, so almost every mother of a young tomboy had to patch up, or mend a hole in jeans, or whatever, sew on a trouser leg.

Another new feature of modern sewing lovers is soft toys. Such a number of colors and types of fabrics will not leave anyone indifferent, and it’s simply impossible to describe how wonderful and colorful the toys are. Tilda alone is worth it! Or Teddy bears!
Perhaps, bags will always be relevant as an addition to the image and the main accessory, as well as an indispensable roomy “girlfriend” for any woman. The variety of bags from a reticule to a backpack, and their styles, which were so carefully created by fashion, provide immense scope for imagination, creativity and new ideas.

The craft does not ask for food or drink, but brings bread.
While a novice seamstress diligently sews new outfits for herself and decorates her home, she gains experience and hones her skills, strengthening them with each new product. Sooner or later the thought comes to mind: “But you can make money on this.”

Where to start?

If you already have items that you have made yourself, wear them with pride and pleasure. Some of the first people to notice new things are friends and close relatives. They can become your first clients, and then word of mouth will start working, and if the work is of high quality and the client is satisfied with the product, customers will bring their friends and recommend them to their friends.
Another important detail is a business card; you can leave it with your friends, who will already know that you are engaged in sewing and take orders.
Today, one of the most common and modern ways to find a client and express your desire to earn money is a blog. You can create it on a free service and there you can talk about yourself, your works, how they are executed, and upload photos of your products.

Price of services?

Ask other craftsmen for the cost of services, go around the studio, collect price lists (soon you will print out your own price sheet).
If you are not confident in the quality of your work, set your prices a little lower than standard for now.
At first it will be difficult to immediately get the job done quickly and flawlessly. Try to order all kinds of things: dresses, trousers, and outerwear. Ultimately, decide which product you will specialize in.

It would be nice to have a separate room for work, but often this is a luxury. The customer can also be received in the hall (living room), where there will be everything necessary for receiving clients and trying on: a sofa, a table, mirrors.

Try to find your unique selling proposition, find out the need in the market and satisfy it. By the way, things for pets (cats and dogs), as well as children's bedding sets, are now in demand.
In general, start sewing, getting real pleasure from it and a well-deserved monetary reward!

We sew dress patterns with ease.

Floor-length dress for plus size 024. The dress pattern is intended for large sizes 56, 58, 60, 62, 64, 66.

This is perhaps the most simple model dresses, which can be downloaded on our website, and it is also one of the most effective in hiding fullness. Almost all the complexity here is in the edging of the armholes and neckline, there is not even a zipper, but this dress for plus size people is fastened with a button. For edging, it is best to buy a special bias tape, fortunately in stores there is a fairly large selection of color scheme. If you are taking your first steps in sewing, then buy some extra tape. If possible, use ready-made bias tape more often; this approach is simpler and improves the quality of sewing.

What fabric will the dress be made from? The model looks most advantageous when made from knitwear of any color, including sprint. You can use other well-draped materials, because we have a fairly large assembly of skirt parts. The easiest way to make a uniform gathering is to lay a stitch (4-5 mm stitch) along the area where the gathering should be, retreating 1-2 mm from the line of future stitching to the edge of the cut. The line should loop a little on either side. To loop, loosen one of the threads rather than tighten it. The same can be done with hand stitching, but somehow it makes less sense.
You will find the exact dimensions of the figure on the patterns. Cut the dress with seam allowances 1 cm wide. Cut the bottom edge, neckline and armholes without allowances.

How to sew a dress

Stitch the back middle seam of the back, overcast the seam allowances, topstitch by 0.1 cm. Sew the shoulder seams, press the seam allowances. Edge the neckline and armholes of the dress with silk tape, tucking and stitching the ends of the tape for the neckline in the middle of the back, and for the armholes at the side seam. Make a buttonhole in the middle of the back and sew on the button.

Gather the front and back panels of the skirt to the width of the yokes, leaving 10 cm from the side cut without gathering, stitch right sides together with the yokes of the dress. Press seam allowances upward. Sew side seams, press seam allowances. Sew and hem the bottom of the dress.
