Making paper crafts with your own hands is simple, inexpensive and very interesting activity both for children and parents. All you need is paper, scissors, glue and a few interesting ideas. In this material you will find 7 step-by-step master classes on needlework from different types of paper and 50 photo ideas for your inspiration.

Idea 1. Volumetric crafts

We offer the smallest craftsmen to make a simple three-dimensional paper craft in the form of a cat like this.

Materials:

  • A4 sheet of paper;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue.

Instructions:

  1. Download and print the template (see cat template below) on white or colored paper;
  2. Cut out the template with scissors, and then make 4 cuts in it along the marked solid lines;
  3. Bend your neck like an accordion along the markings and twist your tail;
  4. Fold the dotted fold lines on the legs and glue them to the cardboard.

For older children there is a more difficult task, namely a master class on making volumetric crafts made of paper in the shape of a bird.

Instructions:

Step 1: Download and print the layout diagram (see below). Please note that the file contains a colorless template so you can print it on colored paper.

Step 2. Cut out all the parts exactly along solid lines using a breadboard knife.

Step 3. Fold all the fold lines according to the principle: thick dotted line = fold inward, thin dotted line = fold outward.

Step 4. Glue the parts together, applying glue to their corners (labeled Glue). Follow this order:

  1. First glue the beak to one side of the bird, then to the second.

  1. Glue the back of the bird starting from the beak, as shown in the photo.

  1. Glue the wings.

  1. Now take the part that is the bird’s breast, and at one end fold it and fix it with glue into a triangle as shown in the photo.

  1. Assemble the legs, make sure the knees are at 90 degrees, then glue the legs to them.

  1. Well, that's all, all that remains is to glue the legs to the body and your three-dimensional paper craft is ready. If you wish, you can make a whole flock of these birds in different colors with your own hands.

Idea 2. Wall panels, paintings and applications

It is known that you can draw not only with paints on paper, but also... with paper on paper. Such activities are no less exciting and useful for the development of hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, perseverance, the ability to plan your work, combine colors, shapes and materials.

The following selection of photos presents ideas for paintings, panels and paper applications for children of different levels of complexity.

By the way, an applique can be made from parts of the same shape, but different sizes and flowers. These can be circles or hearts. The following slider presents examples of such paper crafts and schemes for their manufacture.

Here are some more examples of interesting crafts made from different types of paper.

Now we invite you to get acquainted with a master class on making an original, but very easy paper craft. We have no doubt that such cute figures will help instill in your child an interest in reading books.

Materials:

  • 1 sheet of A4 colored paper;
  • 1 sheet of white A4 paper;
  • Scissors;
  • Glue stick;
  • Markers, pencils and paints.

Instructions:

Step 1. Fold one half of a white A4 sheet in half and let the child independently draw the cover of his favorite book on it, also signing the title and name of the author.

Step 2. Cut three long strips of colored sheet about 2.5 cm wide. You will have 4 pieces: 2 strips for the legs, 1 strip for the two arms and one rectangle to create the body of the figure.

Step 3. Take two strips (for the legs), fold them like an accordion, and then glue them to the rectangular body.

Step 4. Divide the remaining long strip into two equal parts, draw fingers at the ends and glue to the body.

Step 5. Bend the top of the figure to the front side and give it bangs using scissors as shown in the photo.

Step 6. Cut out circles from the remaining half of the white sheet and glue them onto the figure as if they were glasses.

Step 7. Draw details: eyes, mouth, nose and glasses with a black marker.

Step 8. Now glue the book to the hands of the figurine and finally place it on the table or hang it on the wall, for example, near a bookshelf.

Idea 3. Hats

All children love games with transformations and use everything they can get their hands on to do this. To provide your child with props, you can make fantasy headdresses with him. By the way, such crafts from colored paper can be made for one or several children for a performance, masquerade, theme day birthday or any costume party. In the following selection of photos you can see examples of a wide variety of paper “hats” - from pirate cocked hats to wigs.

Today we invite you and your baby to make a hat in the shape of a dinosaur head. This master class is so simple that a child aged 3 years and older will need very little help from you.

Materials:

  • 3 sheets of colored paper;
  • Glue stick or PVA;
  • Scotch;
  • Scissors.

Instructions:

Step 1. Cut 4 strips about 3cm wide along the long side of the paper. Two of these strips will turn into the headband, and the other two will become the crossbars of the “hat”, onto which the dinosaur spikes will be glued.

Step 2: Take the other two sheets of paper and cut them into strips about 5cm wide along the short side of the paper. You can measure and cut the strips by eye, but in the end you should end up with 5 strips from each sheet. We need these blanks to make spikes.

Step 3. Fold each blank for the tenons in half and, stepping back from the fold about 1.5 cm, draw a marking in the form of a triangle with a height up to the very edge (see photo). Next, simply cut out the future thorns.

Step 4. Glue two crossbar strips, and then glue the spikes on them in a row as shown in the photo below.

Step 5: While the glue is drying, size the two pieces of the headband to match the circumference of your baby's head, then tape them together into a circle.

Step 6. Now let's get back to the spikes. Turn the crossbar over so that the tenons are on the table and bend each of them well (see photo). Form the first spike: cover one side with glue and connect it to the other. Use paper clips to hold the tenon in place until the glue dries. Repeat these steps with the remaining spikes.

Step 7: Once the glue has dried, remove the staples from the spikes and simply glue the crossbar to the headband at the front and back.

Idea 4. Toy figures made from toilet paper rolls

Bushings from toilet paper- These are excellent blanks for children's crafts that just need to be embellished a little. For example, you can make such wonderful toys from them.

Already at 1 year old, children are ready to get acquainted with the application.

But in order not to discourage a child’s interest in this type of creativity, you need to follow several important rules.

In this article you will find ideas for applications with children aged 1 – 3 years old, and learn about the rules for teaching them.

You can download application templates one file. The link contains more than 100 templates for all types of applications that I talk about in this article.

You will also find a large number of ideas in the album VK group “It’s easy to be a mother”.

In our classes we also use ready-made manuals for creating applications. I will review such benefits in one of the following articles.

The benefits of applications

Many parents postpone appliqué lessons until later in life, believing that one year old baby it is too early. But that's not true.

While practicing appliqué, the child:

  • develops fine motor skills,
  • improves hand coordination;
  • gains new sensory experiences;
  • gets acquainted with the surrounding world;
  • develops speech (while playing out the plot and discussing what you are doing);
  • activates imagination and creativity.

This is exactly what needs to be intensively developed at an early age.

How to make appliques with children

Classes should bring joy to both the child and the parents.

Moms usually have two difficulties: lack of ideas and lack of time to prepare.

In this article I’m just sharing applique ideas for kids.

As for the second difficulty, I believe that preparation for any classes and not only appliqué should take a minimum of time. There is no need to pervert and come up with everything extraordinary and complex.

Neat appliqués made using complex techniques look beautiful in Instagram photos, but in reality, if the child is small, everything turns out not so colorful. Either the entire sheet is covered in glue, or the elements are glued crookedly, or even in a different place altogether. And this is wonderful - it means that it was the child who made this appliqué (under the strict guidance of the mother, of course, and not with her hands).

Take it simple ideas for use, draw, cut from what you have, in a matter of minutes. You are not preparing for an exhibition, but doing one of the hundreds of crafts with your child that he still has to do.

And only later, when these activities become commonplace, complicate the technique, come up with something new.

As for children, here you need to remember the following:

  • Application is, first of all, a game, which means we weave in an interesting and understandable plot for the child;
  • Applications should be simple and accessible for his age;
  • No coercion;
  • The lesson should take no more than 5-7 minutes with kids and 15-20 minutes with older children. And with some fidgets, even 3 minutes will be enough;
  • There should be nothing unnecessary on the table - only glue and paper (or other material that you use);
  • Alternate the materials from which you make the applique: variety is important for the child;
  • If the child is patient enough, then you can cut out the details in front of him. So the child will become interested in scissors. And closer to three years, if desired, he will be able to cut out simple parts himself;
  • If the child is impatient and gets tired quickly, prepare everything you need in advance;
  • Classes must be regular. We do appliqués about once a week.

On many crafts we write the date and age and put them in a folder.

I find most of my ideas in a book. Elena Yanushko “Applique with children early age» (Labyrinth, Ozone). A wonderful guide that presents a methodology for conducting appliqué classes with young children.

A huge number of ideas with detailed description each lesson, including what you should say to your child while doing the appliqué. In general, I recommend everyone to read it.

What to make applications from

To diversify your activities, it is useful alternate materials. Ideal for making appliques:

  • colored paper: regular, double-sided, velvet,
  • napkins,
  • stationery stickers,
  • stickers,
  • magazine clippings,
  • foil,
  • felt,
  • textile,
  • cotton wool and cotton pads,
  • plasticine,
  • natural materials,
  • cereals,
  • sand,
  • salt,
  • insulating tape.

Try to use cardboard or thick paper as a basis. We most often use A5 format in our works, sometimes A4.

Where possible, it is better to color the base template and cut it into the desired shape (Christmas tree, vase, etc.) - it’s more interesting for the child.

As for glue, you must have both a glue stick and regular PVA. Now, at 3 years old, Antoshka suddenly began to disdain to pick up a piece of paper with ordinary glue, which he applied with all his heart. And we temporarily switched exclusively to glue sticks.

Ideal for children who are barely one year old. No glue required. Nowadays there are a lot of different stickers, they even come in the shape of animals and cars, but many games can be created with ordinary ones.

Here are some simple ideas:

Hide the mice(bunnies, etc.). Draw a few mice on a piece of paper and ask your child to hide them from the cat. The child places the sticker directly on the mouse. Then it’s so interesting to see who’s sitting there. You can cut out leaves from stickers and hide worms, bugs, etc. under them.

Can also be glued garages for cars.

Raindrops. Draw a cloud and invite your child to glue raindrops - small rectangles cut from the sticky part of the sticker.

You can make rays for the sun, petals for a flower, grass, whiskers for a cat, needles for a hedgehog, scales for a fish. From small round stickers or decals - spots for a giraffe, balls for a Christmas tree.

All this can be done and on a magnetic board for drawing:

Stickers also great fun and material for appliqués. You can buy them in whole themed sets.

Simple applications with a chaotic arrangement of elements

This is the first stage in mastering the art of appliqué.

Here you also need to print (or draw) and cut out the base for the applique in advance, and cut out the remaining elements. Let the child decide for himself where exactly he wants to glue this or that element. Here are some ideas:

  • Salt cucumbers, tomatoes;
  • Cut out the frying pan and bake pancakes in it;
  • Cook jam, mushroom soup;
  • We draw a plate and feed the rubber animals with oranges, cabbage, carrots, etc.;
  • We decorate the Christmas tree, hat, mitten, boot;
  • We glue leaves, apples, pears to the trees, and plant vegetables in the beds;
  • We put fish in the aquarium, ducklings in the pond;
  • We collect mushrooms in a basket;
  • We cut out a thin strip - a road for cars and glue the cars.

You can also make ice from foil:

Applications from geometric shapes

At 1.5 - 2 years old, applications can become more complex. Print or draw outlines of the elements on the base. Invite your child to glue the appliqué elements onto these outlines.

I print out the template, cut out the geometric elements, trace it on colored paper and cut it out.

This makes it convenient to make applications not only from geometric shapes, but also any other form.

Applications without outlines

This is a complicated version of the previous type of application. The difficulty is that there is already no ready-made contours.

First, the child, together with you, lays out the elements of the application on the base to see what should or can happen. And only then glues it.

There is simply an endless number of options here. If the child is small, then it will take a little time to prepare. But closer to three years, you will want to do something original, and then you will have to spend time both searching for ideas and preparing.

The simplest option:

A little more complicated:

A child can make such applications by the age of three. Here we also study the numbers:

Applications from magazines and ready-made pictures

In order to make appliqués, you don’t even need to have colored paper. Use old ones magazines, catalogs goods.

Here Antoshka and I filled the refrigerator. I cut out products from the catalog of the nearest supermarket, and Antoshka placed them on the shelves.

Using the same principle, you can arrange toys on shelves, fill baskets with fruits and vegetables, hang clothes in the closet, etc. Drawing the base will take you no more than a minute. All that remains is to cut out food or other things.

Applications made of cotton wool and cotton pads

Cotton wool makes excellent: bunny, swan, polar bear, sheep, cat, dog and other animals that can be white and fluffy. And also snow, snowflakes, dandelions, clouds.

As a basis, use coloring books for little ones or templates for applique.

Tree in the snow:

You can draw the base together with your child. Clouds made of cotton wool:

Applications from cereals and sand

I talked about cereal applications in an article about.

Essentially, it’s two in one: drawing and appliqué.

Print out coloring pages for kids. Invite your child to apply glue to the coloring book and sprinkle it with rice, corn grits, semolina, etc.

Semolina It can be painted beautifully with gouache (just don’t add water), or you can leave it white and create masterpieces in a winter theme.

Rice The child can easily paint it himself. This is a separate useful entertainment.

Available for sale colored sand for creativity.

Squirrel from dyed semolina:

And this is a sunflower made from buckwheat, corn grits and dyed rice:

You can also learn letters and numbers making appliqués from semolina.

Here you can also print out coloring pages for the little ones. The base should be no larger than A5 format. Invite your child to smear the plasticine over the base. To begin, select pictures that need to be covered with one color:

And then make it more complicated:

The simplest version of plasticine applique is to make giraffe spots, dots ladybug and so on. The pressure technique is used here.

Write in the comments, does your baby like to make appliques? Does he have the patience to deal with this difficult task?

Master class: “Do-it-yourself crafts” for children 2-3 years old. Barney Bear

Description of the master class: This master class will be of interest to educators and teachers additional education, parents and just creative people. Designed for children aged 2 – 3 years and older.
Purpose: holiday gift, craft - interior decoration.
Target: making crafts from napkins with your own hands.
Tasks:
- learn how to make a volumetric applique with your own hands, using the technique of crumpling paper.
- consolidate skills and abilities in working with glue; develop skills in following the rules of working with glue.
- develop fine motor skills of the hands;
- cultivate hard work, accuracy in work, creativity, fantasy, imagination.

Preface to the work:
It is difficult to overestimate the benefits of applications in children's creativity; everyone knows how the development of fine motor skills affects intellectual, mental abilities and speech development. Gluing small pieces of paper onto the base directly affects the development of fingers and motor skills. And I believe that at the age of 2-3 years, our beloved kids can already begin to glue at least the simplest paper applications or from any other adhesive material at hand ( autumn leaves, napkins, fabric, cereals, pasta, lids, cotton wool, snow, and others).
The main rule for creative activities with a child at this age is to give only those tasks that are feasible for the child. Our task is to instill interest in creativity, and not discourage it. If we offer a child too difficult crafts that are not appropriate for his age, this will most likely lead to the child not being able to do anything, and he will simply watch you do everything for him. Classes should be held in such a way that the main part of the work is done by the child, not the adult.
In the presented master class, you may need the help of an adult when cutting out with scissors and gluing parts of the craft to the base.
Materials and tools:
- colored cardboard (brown);
- colored napkins;
- magazine paper;
- simple scissors;
- a simple pencil;
- PVA glue;
- colored ribbons;
- eyes, markers.
Step-by-step execution of work.
Let's prepare necessary materials and tools.

Sample:

Safety precautions when working with glue:
1. Apply glue to the surface of the product only with a brush.
2. Do not let glue get on your fingers, face, especially eyes.
3. If glue gets into your eyes, rinse them immediately large quantities water.
4. After finishing work, be sure to wash your hands and arms.
5. When working with glue, use a napkin.
Work sequence
1. Prepare a teddy bear template.

2. Take colored cardboard (brown) and trace with a simple pencil teddy bear template.

3. Cutting. These stages of work are performed by an adult.

4. The result is a flat piece.

5. To create a three-dimensional craft, we will make the head and tummy of the bear with our own hands.
6. Take sheets of magazine paper, crumple it, forming round lumps - the head and belly of the bear cub. and prepare 2 napkins for wrapping our lumps. Children do this with great pleasure.

7. Now we “hide” each lump of magazine paper in napkins desired color. To prevent the magazine paper from showing through the napkin, I suggest using folded napkins without unfolding them. Children do it on their own.

8. Now we apply glue to the place where we will have the tummy and the head of the bear.

9. Glue both lumps.

10. Now all that remains is to “revive” our little bear by gluing on his eyes, nose, and mouth. And attach a bow to his neck.

11. Barney Bear is ready! Isn't he cute?1

Here are some more ideas on what crafts you can make from scraps of paper with children aged 2 years and older.
"Merry Bun".
You will still need the same magazine paper, yellow napkins, a lid from plastic bottle for a hat, eyes. The meaning of the crafts is the same: we crumple the magazine paper, forming a round lump, and wrap it in a yellow napkin. Small lumps for the legs. All that remains is to try on his hat, glue on his legs, eyes, nose, and mouth. Kolobok is ready to travel!!!

Colored paper is an excellent material for crafts. You can make appliqués, various figures and many other creative things from it. In this article we will look at how to make crafts from colored paper for elementary school children with your own hands.

You will need: thick colored paper, glue gun, ruler, scissors, tape, rubber band, pencil, pen spring.

Master Class

  1. Take a sheet of paper and a pencil, twist the tube from the corner diagonally, then secure it with tape and pull out the pencil.

  2. Twist the second piece of paper around the first tube, then separate them. The second paper tube should be slightly larger in diameter than the first so that it can be used to shoot in the future.
  3. Secure the second tube with tape, then cut off the edges.
  4. Twist 2 more paper tubes in the same way.
  5. Cut the tubes into pieces of this length: trunk - 2 tubes 15 cm long; handle – 7 tubes 5 cm long; trigger – 1 tube 8 cm long.
  6. Glue 5 cm tubes diagonally to form a handle.

  7. Glue the 8 cm tube on top of the handle so that the remaining 3 cm protrudes to the right. This is the trigger.
  8. Glue two 15cm tubes together and glue them to the top of the gun as the barrel.
  9. Roll two thin tubes from yellow paper.
  10. Bend a thin tube into a “U” shape and insert one end into the trigger and the other into the upper tube of the handle. Trim off the excess. This will be the trigger.
  11. Make a trigger guard from the second thin tube. To do this, place one end of the tube into the handle (into the second tube from the top) and glue the rest of the tube to the bottom of the barrel.

  12. Twist the pink one paper tube, flatten it and glue the handle as shown in the image. It is worth noting that the rear hole in the trigger must be open.
  13. Pull the trigger out of the top tube of the handle and insert the spring. It is worth noting that the spring should rest against the tube covering the back of the handle. Reinsert the trigger.
  14. Roll up a thin, thick tube of yellow paper, secure with tape and trim the edges so they are even.

  15. Fold the edge, put on an elastic band and secure with glue.
  16. Insert the tube with the rubber band into the lower tube of the gun barrel and pull the rubber band forward, hooking it between the two tubes.
  17. Roll paper bullets, load the gun and fire.

You will need: colored cardboard, scissors, glue stick, cotton wool, stapler.

“Mom, mom, look at what a miracle I did!” - rushes out of the group kindergarten a three-year-old creator with a craft at the ready to meet his mother who came for him. There is so much joy and pride in the baby’s eyes. Of course: he himself made something new with his own hands, something that didn’t exist before, and he succeeded! Children love to create. Handmade crafts for a 2-3 year old child are very important: this is both a way to express oneself as an individual and to gain knowledge of the world. And if something suddenly breaks (disassembled toys: dolls left without arms, and cars without wheels) - then this is also creation, because in order to do something, you need to find out how something works. This is how the world is known. With the participation of adults and, first of all, parents, it is learned faster.

Features of young children

Remember the song from the funny children's cartoon "Beware of the Monkeys"? It perfectly characterizes those who “came out of the diapers”: two-three-year-old little people. Hyperactivity and the inability to concentrate attention for a long period on something specific at this age is the norm. After all, a child’s mental processes are still involuntary. Therefore, when planning an activity with your baby, choose simple crafts. For children 2-3 years old, handicrafts should not exceed 15 minutes. Time is given with a reserve, because concentration of attention at this age is possible only for 3-5 minutes.

What crafts are best for a 2-3 year old child?

1. Not requiring sitting in one place for more than 15 minutes: We must remember the line from the song mentioned above about half a kilo of explosives.

2. Easy things to do: relying on the proverb about perseverance and work is still premature.

3. Those that can be finished within 15 minutes. Choose a craft that you can do in this period of time, so you can teach your child to finish the job.

4. Choose a work option that will certainly be interesting, and the end result will impress the baby.

5. Educational crafts for children 2-3 years old - ideal. Therefore, try to combine handicrafts with the development of speech, logic, and self-care skills.

The main condition for engaging in creativity is that the child should do the work mainly; the mother only prompts and guides.

Drawing

Creating masterpieces with help is an exciting activity for a child. When the child learns not only to stain himself with paint, but also to move his finger across the paper, his hands become stronger, give him a thick (for convenience) brush. By the age of 2, we already have an experienced artist, past stage getting dirty and coming to the stage of scribbles and lines. You can safely start drawing little men from the song “Dot, dot, comma - a crooked face” with his pen. By the age of two and a half to three years, the baby will be able to draw his first cephalopod himself.

Modeling

All mothers know how important it is to develop their child’s hands. Modeling is one of the ideal options for developing it. It is best to start introducing your child to sculpting when he is one year old. First, introduce the baby to the modeling material. Yes, by the way, it’s worth paying attention to the optimal choice of what you need to make crafts from with your baby. For a 2-3 year old child, the ideal material is dough. You can prepare it yourself, or you can buy it in stores that specialize in selling children's products. There you can also purchase for modeling: a rolling pin, stacks, stamps and molds for cutting out figures.

So, we begin our modeling lessons with simple tasks: knead the dough, roll it into a bun, pinch off small pieces from it.

Prepare a template with a simple design for class. For example, a tree, and a child will be happy to stick leaves on it.

By the age of three, your child will be fully accustomed to the role of a sculptor and will be able to sculpt simple figures from three or four separately made parts.

Application

For classes you will need ready-made parts that need to be glued, a base and glue (ideally starch or flour paste). The option of applique with tree leaves is possible if you are doing autumn crafts. For children 2-3 years old, classes should be carried out in order of increasing difficulty.

The first stage is to introduce the child to glue, its properties and algorithm of operation: first we smear the part with glue, then we apply it to the paper and press it.

It is important to immediately draw the child’s attention to the fact that he holds the part that he is lubricating with glue with one hand.

When all the difficulties of the gluer's craft have been overcome, you can begin a more creative process: composing compositions from elements pre-cut by elders.

Construction

The activity is very useful because, in addition to the small ones, it develops the child. Of course, the baby himself cannot cope with the role of a designer. But there is always a mom and dad who will help you do something interesting. Exist ready-made kits- crafts for a 2-3 year old child, allowing you to assemble figures from several large parts.

But you can do without them: collect chestnuts and pine cones on a walk and make a funny little man. Conduct an unplanned activity while walking.

Other handy things are also suitable for construction: balls of thread, cardboard bases from toilet paper rolls, all kinds of boxes and boxes. You just have to show your imagination.

Conclusion

At the age of 2 to 3 years, children’s thinking develops visually and effectively, which is why creative activities are so important, during which the child gains skills in handling objects, labor, self-service, and speech.

The main thing is not to forget the rule: the child should like what he does.
