And this is the main goal of any creativity.

Paper boats have been familiar to us since childhood, but this one simple toy popular among the younger generation as well.

The history of such paper products is very long, and came to us from Japanese culture. Making paper boats is part of the traditional art form of Japan - origami. This means that the execution of the boats takes place without the help of foreign objects. All you need is paper, attentiveness and perseverance.

Exists a large number of varieties of paper boats, as well as methods of making them. Let's look at the most popular of them.

A simple boat made using origami technique

The most common type is a regular paper boat using the origami technique. But even this can turn into an interesting adventure if you do it with your child. A master class with photographs and step-by-step instructions will help with this.

Advice: For boats that plan to set sail freely on the water, you should stock up on paper with a glossy surface, then the paper ship will last longer.

How to make a simple paper boat:

Take a sheet of A4 paper, place it horizontally in front of you on the surface and fold it in half along a transverse line.

Now you need to bend both upper corners so that they form an acute angle exactly in the center of the sheet. It is important to highlight the fold lines well.

Then you need to lift the lower rectangular edge of the paper sheet up so that it is bent strictly along the edges of the previously bent corners.

This action must be repeated with the remaining free edge, only you need to bend it in the opposite direction.

We bend the sharp corner exactly along the line of the emerging triangle and hide this tip inside. Cover this part of the triangle with the remaining corner. We repeat the steps for the other side of the boat.

A kind of pocket has formed in the resulting paper triangle, which now needs to be opened.

Now we bend the bottom corner of this square up, pressing it exactly along the top corner of the square. Turn the craft over and bend the remaining free corner of the square up to form a triangle again.

Once again we straighten the resulting triangle of the future paper ship.

Again, fold along opposite fold lines into a square.

The upper corners of the square must be carefully pulled in opposite directions. The craft turned into a boat.

All that remains is to straighten the bottom and sides - that is, to correct the entire structure for greater stability on the water.

Making a regular paper boat

Another simple option for creating a paper boat with your own hands. To make this boat, you only need a few minutes, a piece of paper, scissors and step-by-step instructions. The assembly method is very simple.

How to make a simple paper boat:

A square should be made from a standard rectangular A4 sheet.

You need to bend it horizontally, clearly outline the fold and bend the square back.

Then its lower part needs to be bent and folded so that the lower border is adjacent to the central fold.

The upper part of the sheet also needs to be folded so that the upper border lies along the central fold of the paper.

Now the central fold needs to be bent in the opposite direction to form a zigzag or accordion of four sides.

Now you need to open one of the sides like a book.

The free upper corner must be folded so that it lies along the central fold in the center of the “book”.

The second corner must also be folded to the central fold of this “book”.

On the opposite side of the rectangle we bend the corners to the center in the same way.

After this, we fold the future paper boat in half.

We turn the craft over with the narrow corners downwards and open the resulting boat.

We wrap one of the sharp bow parts of the boat into the center, as shown in the photo.

Repeat this process with the second part to create a hexagon.

The upper and lower sharp corners of the craft need to be turned 0.5 cm.

Open the resulting boat again.

Now we alternately decorate the sides, making bends on one side of the craft, then on the other.

The folds must be well defined, then the product will look beautiful.

The final stage is to straighten the paper ship in those places where the product requires it.

How to make a boat with sails from paper?

As soon as you can quickly make ordinary paper boats, you immediately want to quickly find out how you can make something more complex and interesting out of paper. Therefore, the next step will be a master class that will help you learn how to make a sailboat out of paper. However, it should be noted right away that this craft cannot float on water; it is more of a decorative item or a beautiful bookmark.

How to make a paper boat - sailboat:

Cut a square from A4 sheet, or take a ready-made one square sheet for crafts. Fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle.

Then we unfold it back and fold the future paper boat in half in the usual way.

The sheet needs to be unfolded again and folded in half in the other direction - so that obvious folds remain on the paper.

Having straightened a sheet of paper, you can see a web of folds on it, which in the future will help you quickly navigate when making a boat.

Now we bend the craft in half and unbend it.

The left free corner of the paper must be folded towards the center to form an open envelope.

The same edge needs to be bent to the side, as shown in the photo.

We bend the entire resulting angle inside the future boat.

It turned out to be something like a rhombus with a sail.

The right corner of the diamond is bent upward - now there are two sails.

The bottom corner of the boat needs to be bent towards the center reverse side and turn the product to the front side.

Now the boat with sails is ready for interior decoration.

For clarity, in addition to the diagrams presented above, I recommend watching a video on making paper boats.

How to make a paper boat (video)

How to make a paper boat (video)

Well, we watched the video, made a boat, filled a bath with water... We can play!

Since childhood, we have known the lines from the song “I am leading a boat along a fast river,” which pushed us to make paper crafts. When we were very little, the simple movements of our parents, who turned white sheets into a vessel, took our breath away and delighted us. Of course, childhood passes, and few people today remember how to make a boat out of paper.

Paper products can be so unusual and beautiful that they simply intrigue and take your breath away. Origami has long gained great popularity among people. different ages and nationalities. You can find it on the Internet detailed instructions for making animals, equipment, flowers and other types of origami.

If you delve deeper into the technology, you can discover many types of boats and options for their manufacture. Let's take a step-by-step look at how to make a paper boat.

Before you start studying the instructions and assembling the craft, you need to thoroughly prepare. After all, in any business, the most important thing is preparation and the availability of material and tools. The list of required components will change based on the model of the boat you will be making.

Before you begin, prepare the following tools and components.

  1. Several sheets of A4 paper. If you wish, you can use colored sheets, but they must be thick enough.
  2. Scissors. It is advisable to use small and sharp paper scissors. If you don't have scissors, a utility knife may work.
  3. PVA glue. Do not use glue sticks as they leave marks and are too dense. It is advisable to use simple liquid PVA glue.
  4. Glue brush. Use a small brush, choose one so that it can be dipped into the glue.
  5. Thin wire. For comfortable work, take aluminum wire of small diameter (thin), it has sufficient flexibility and strength. You can also use steel wire.
  6. Big needle. The so-called “gypsy” needle, you can find it, for example, from your grandmother.

Having prepared all the components, you can start working. The required material will vary depending on the boat model. For convenience, we will additionally inform you what exactly you will need so that you can thoroughly prepare.

Basic ideas and diagrams

There are several popular ways to make a paper boat. We propose to consider the five most popular crafts of varying complexity.

  1. So, the first option is, of course, a “simple boat”, the easiest to make and the most common.
  2. In second place we put the “ship with a sail”, which brings the feeling of a full-fledged, real ship sailing in the wind.
  3. A well-deserved third place goes to the “ship with a pipe”; it looks like a real ship that carries cargo or passengers.
  4. We decided to give fourth place to the “two-pipe boat”, reminiscent of a military cruiser that protects the coastal waters of its state.
  5. And finally, fifth place is occupied by probably the most beautiful, but also the most complex - the so-called “voluminous boat”.

But first things first. Let's look at the manufacturing schemes for each model on our list in turn.

Simple boat

To make a simple boat you will only need an A4 sheet of paper. We take the sheet in hand and adhere to the work scheme.

  1. Lay the sheet horizontally and fold it in half from right to left. We unfold the sheet to a horizontal position and repeat the movement.
  2. From the last position we unfold the sheet back. Please note that we fold it twice and unfold it only once.
  3. We bend the upper corners inward, towards the center. That is, we bend two corners to the center line resulting from the bend.
  4. We bend the lower part up, the place of the bend coincides with the edges of the bent corners. There will be small “ears” left on both sides of the workpiece; we bend them onto the back side of the product. Turn the workpiece over and repeat the procedure.
  5. Having opened the pocket that was formed from below, we change the place of the bend to the central points of the figure. You should now have a diamond shape in front of you.
  6. Step back about 2 cm from the top corner of the diamond and place a dot there. Grab the bottom corner of the figure and bend it up to the point you set. Turn the figure over and repeat the procedure.
  7. Open the workpiece and change the bending angles in the same way as in step 5.
  8. Grab the side corners that protrude from the edges of the figure and pull them in different directions. A beautiful boat will begin to form in your hands.

To make a boat with a sail, you will need a sheet of A4 paper, wire, scissors, a needle, glue and two paper blanks (3*3 cm, 12*5 cm). The step-by-step algorithm includes the following steps.

  1. We make a “simple boat” according to the diagram above.
  2. Use a needle to make a hole at the top of the ship's triangle.
  3. We thread the wire through the hole and bend it at the bottom to hold it in place.
  4. We make a sail from a 12*5 blank. We pierce two holes at the top and bottom in order to thread the wire.
  5. We make a flag from a 3*3 blank, wrap it around the top of the wire, and glue it together.
  6. Using scissors, cut out a triangle in the flag. You should get two cloves.
  7. We straighten out all the details, and the boat is ready to sail!

For production you will need an A4 sheet and scissors. If you use one-sided colored paper, the craft will turn out much prettier. The algorithm is presented below.

  1. Make a square from a sheet of paper and cut off the excess part.
  2. Fold the sheet twice diagonally so that the center and two lines across are visible.
  3. We bend the upper corner towards the middle (fold line).
  4. We retreat from the top part about two centimeters and along this line, holding the end of the bent corner, bend it back.
  5. We also retreat two centimeters and bend the upper corner back. You should get three folds with the same difference at the top of the figure.
  6. We bend the figure from left to right in half along the existing fold line.
  7. From the bottom of the figure, measure approximately 2/3 of the resulting size and visually draw a line. Taking hold of the inside of the lower pocket, we bend the edges of the figure upward, close to the main part.
  8. Enjoy the beautiful boat with a funnel!

Two-pipe boat

For manufacturing you will need, as in the previous model, an A4 sheet and scissors. The step-by-step algorithm includes several important steps.

  1. We make a square from the sheet and cut off the excess part.
  2. Fold the sheet twice diagonally so that the center and two lines across are visible.
  3. We bend all four corners to the center, resulting in a square.
  4. We turn the square over and repeat the procedure, folding the corners towards the middle.
  5. We repeat the steps in step 4, that is, we bend the corners three times.
  6. Turn the part over. We bend two corners opposite each other, forming pipes.
  7. Using the inner parts of the corners, we begin to unbend the model, while simultaneously folding it in half.
  8. Unfold all the parts and get a magnificent two-tube boat!

To make a three-dimensional boat, in our case it will be a sailboat, you only need scissors and paper. How to fold a three-dimensional paper boat?

  1. Prepare a square as in the two previous options.
  2. Fold it diagonally. Unfold and fold in half.
  3. Unbend again and fold in half in the other direction, unbend again.
  4. Fold those corners at which there are no fold lines towards the center.
  5. Fold the left corner to the center as well.
  6. Step back from the left edge about two centimeters and bend the corner back along this line.
  7. Fold the figure in half, but at the same time bend the left corner inward.
  8. In the resulting figure, bend the right corner up.
  9. Fold the bottom corner up. The bent corner will serve as a stand for the sailboat.
  10. Straighten the inner corners, and the volumetric sailboat is ready!

In order to get a beautiful boat the first time, start with the simplest diagram, this will give you an understanding of what the basic principles of paper craft modeling are based on, which will help in more complex schemes.

Using colored paper will make your product more interesting and brighter. Before setting sail, you can attach a thin layer of foam plastic to the “bottom” of the boat, this will significantly extend its service life and improve its seaworthiness.

Using cardboard instead of paper will increase the strength of your models and make them more stable on the water.

To make more complex boat designs, you can’t do without photo and video tips. Watching the master class allows you not to waste extra time reading.

Conclusion

There are quite a lot of boat models, we have looked at the most popular and simplest of the variety offered. By completing all five models in two or three color options, you can get a whole fleet and pleasantly surprise your child’s friends.

Teaching your child to do things on his own paper crafts, you will spend time usefully and will be able to distract him from his usual gadget at least for a while. And having shown his skills and ready-made boats to his friends, he will be able to organize naval battles on the street in company.
