History 2002

A story that begins from afar...

The story of LaSaponaria is a story of passion. A passion that intensifies over time, transforms into work and strengthens year after year, growing and changing like a big family.

The company's founder, Luigi, was a child when he began collecting his soap collection, and even then he filled his home with intoxicating aromas. Growing up, he discovered the magic of soap (and more), studying chemistry and meeting his future wife Lucia, he began his first experiments.
The first samples of soap are born in the attic under the supervision and advice of Grandma Gina. Tradition and innovation are based on long-standing knowledge that is combined with a desire to discover and test new solutions and ecological and sustainable ingredients.

2006

Co-buying groups and crowdfunding, passion turns into work

Step by step, in the footsteps essential oils and forgotten ingredients, the world of soap and cosmetics production fascinates them more and more. They participate in sales at markets and exhibitions of local handicraft products and begin cooperation with GAS (Group of Joint Purchasing) of the city.

People of this type, with ambitions to change the world in their own way, are looking for a healthy and clean lifestyle. It was thanks to the “GASists” that passion was transformed into work. It was the practice of crowdfunding (when it was not yet widespread) between friends and GASists that made it possible to raise the necessary amount to launch the laboratory. Many expressed their trust in Luigi and Lucia, and believed in their project, and so...

2007

LaSaponaria, a conscious micro-lab under zero influence, was born

Thus, out of great passion and a big dream, LaSaponaria is born!
Without thinking about grandiose investments and intergalactic structures, the founders themselves designed many devices and laboratory equipment using recycled materials and tools.

Some equipment, for example, comes from a small workshop where Adriano produced ordinary cosmetics with love and with the help of his wife. After completing his activities, he surrendered his equipment and, moreover, the spiritual heritage of his work. It was not easy to break through the bureaucracy, but after a thousand twists and turns it was laboratory was inaugurated with the first soap production.

2007

He who does for himself does for three things: good for his skin, wallet and the environment.

Making your own cosmetic products with natural ingredients allows you to learn not only what is best to apply and what is good for our health, but also: how to save the environment and how to properly optimize. With the belief in the importance of own production and in search of incentives for correct practice: courses and activities are organized to disseminate the art of making homemade soap and creating environmentally friendly bio-cosmetics. The original website provides recipes (our own and those who want to contribute to the project) and the primary raw materials that are used.

2010

Our mission: to create conscious cosmetics

Produce good for consumerscosmetical tools, which have a positive impact on the environment and our society.
Immediately born cooperation with small agricultural producers who cultivate the land with love and without the use of chemicals. Lavender, calendula, olive oil extravergine – all the best ingredients with zero impact, great for ecological cosmetics.

From these meetings the first are born production for third parties: soap products are beginning to be produced for various agricultural enterprises (often exchanging cosmetics for primary raw materials) and for some well-known brands of biological cosmetics.

2012

Not just soap...

Research and experiments in the field of chemistry and eco-bio-cosmetics continue and the first cosmetics under the LaSaponaria brand are born.
A very fragrant and beloved scrub is born based on lemongrass and mint with perfectly matched ingredients. After numerous experiments they are born shampoos based on flax seeds, loved and known today by many owners of thick hair.

2013

LaSaponaria is growing and becoming famous!

From dreams to reality. LaSaponaria converted into work for founders and other young alchemist students!
The company participates in events and organizes territorial meetings for dissemination of knowledge and skills, and discussions about cosmetics that support skin and the planet.

Some media outlets are starting to talk about the project, which increases the number of real and virtual friends of the company.
During these years, a project for the reuse of Chianti grape pomace was born together with a Tuscan agricultural producer. These raw materials are adapted for use by our four-legged friends and the Impronta line is dedicated to them, as well as products for the home.

2013 - 2014

Many new products and linear projects...

A linear project is being implemented to bring back the forgotten culture of using hemp in the production of cosmetics. By combining different agents, manufacturers manage to apply and process 100% labeled hemp, which becomes the hero of the new line for men Hippiness.

The family of Luigi and Lucia is also growing and thus the range can no longer lack a line of cosmetics dedicated to the youngest consumers. LeAlbicoccole (Apricots).

2014

New laboratory and first LaSaponaria store!

There is no longer enough space for creams, soaps and shampoos: in 2014 it officially opens new laboratory I'm in Vallefoglia (Pesaro Urbino region).
For these purposes, the old plant was restored according to energy saving criteria, new equipment was purchased to reduce costs and the environmental impact of production to a minimum, ensuring maximum production quality.
In December, the first eco-warehouse, a store at the LaSaponaria factory, was inaugurated.

2014 - 2015

The team is expanding, experiments continue...

Never tired of experimenting, the LaSaponaria laboratory is a constant source of ideas!
New employees are part of the LaSaponaria team and bring the necessary energy to the laboratory for the development of new projects.
Luigi becomes university professor cosmetology and brings it to the laboratory department research and quality new impulses.
During these years there also appears lineOsolebio, new projects are created and strengthened ethical chain such as, for example, those related to calendula and sage, which emerged within the GAS movement in Pesaro to stimulate a self-employment project in the agricultural sector.

Ecology of life. Health and beauty: Every woman at some periods of her life probably used the most expensive systems of cosmetic products, strictly following all the advice of cosmetologist consultants. How many women can claim that after six months or a year of strict adherence to the recommendations for use cosmetic preparations, their skin has at least visually changed in better side?

Every woman at some periods of her life probably used the most expensive systems of cosmetic products, strictly following all the advice of cosmetologist consultants. How many women can claim that after six months, or after a year of strictly following the recommendations for the use of cosmetic products, their skin has at least visually changed for the better? Most likely, few. In the morning, without cream and decorative cosmetics, we are all disappointed to note the inexorable fact of aging of our skin.

Most modern cosmetics (fatty creams, lotions and gels) affect only the epidermis, that is, the upper 0.1 mm of our skin, and often damage normal microflora - friendly skin bacteria - and epithelial cells with preservatives.

Such cosmetics do more harm than good, especially if the skin is problematic - excessively dry or oily, if it has begun to age prematurely, the first wrinkles or acne have appeared. Therefore, many are now returning to their grandmother’s recipes: they cleanse the skin with clay and yogurt, wash their hair with mustard or egg, and rinse with water and lemon or herbal infusions, etc.

Our skin does not have to endure the crimes that we commit every day: WE FEED THE SKIN WITH PRESERVATIVES!!!

Which of the unpronounceable ingredients in beauty products are detrimental to our health? We want to clarify this issue and highlight some non-toxic organic cosmetics lines.

A recent survey has revealed the true extent of concerns about chemicals in cosmetics and toiletries in people's daily lives. The survey, carried out by Neal's Yard Remedies in response to Channel 4's Beauty Addicts: How Toxic are You?, revealed the top consumer confusions about beauty brands and found that 99% of consumers want clarity.

As surprising as it may sound, the average woman uses 12 beauty products every day and applies about 175 chemicals to her body. Most products contain a long list of ingredients, many of which have unpronounceable names - much less the reason or merit behind them being there.

According to INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients), each component of a product must have its own name.

The names of even natural ingredients accepted by INCI are often horrific, making the names of common ingredients sound like foreign, unintelligible words. Most natural brands, including A"kin, have begun to place the usual familiar ingredient names in square brackets, not far from the standard INCI name.

With the approval of the European Union, almost all cosmetic products are safe, but there is an undeniable questionable link of the presence of chemicals that cause allergic reactions, skin sensitivity and even cancer.

Once it was suggested that if a cosmetic product is not absorbed into the skin, then the quality of the product should be doubted. However, it has now become known that the skin absorbs absolutely all products placed on it. All ingredients penetrate and are absorbed into the deep layers of the skin, but some of them can be toxic to humans and their bodies.

Plus, cosmetic products are designed to retain their properties for several years, and for this reason they contain a large number of preservatives.

So which ingredients, often called "bad heroes", should you avoid?

Propylene glycol
It is a humectant and solvent used in cosmetics, hair products, deodorants, aftershave lotions and toothpastes. It is also the main element of antifreeze and brake fluids - it is not surprising that it is a strong causative agent of allergic reactions.

Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate
This solid ingredient is found in toothpastes and shampoos, not to mention personal cleansing products. At concentrations as low as 2 – 5%, it can cause skin irritation and inflammation, and some reports may cause eye disorders, skin rashes, dandruff and allergic reactions. For products that do not contain this component, you can try Alterna and Daniel Galvin Junior.

Formaldehyde (formaldehyde)
Formaldehyde is most often found in bubble baths, shampoos, moisturizing lotions and many other products. However, this powerful chemical is known to be carcinogenic and toxic. It readily penetrates the skin and can cause serious health problems.

Parabens
Suggestions have been made that parabens, a type of preservative, can cause hormonal imbalance and even breast cancer. However, the involvement of parabens in deodorants has been proven to be unfounded. Therefore, in the cosmetic world, their properties have been overestimated, and now they are considered quite safe. For paraben-free brands, you can try Trilogy.

Mineral oil (mineral oils)
Mineral oils are very often added to various body lotions (baby oil is 100% mineral oil). They create a layer on the skin, like a plastic shell, so the skin is almost unable to breathe and get rid of toxins. And this encouragement of toxin accumulation can cause premature aging skin, acne and other skin concerns.

Petrolatum (Vaseline)
This is a cheap mineral oil jelly. It can be allergenic, poorly absorbed and clog pores. In addition, Vaseline impedes the access of oxygen to the skin and can cause skin cracks and photosensitivity.

10 most dangerous components - read the label!

Stop being content with pseudo-natural cosmetics. Start reading labels and you will learn to recognize truly organic products among others. Here are substances that, according to Aubrey Hampton, founder of Aubrey Organics, are not desirable in cosmetics.

1. METHYL, PROPYL, BUTYL AND ETHYL PARABENS often used in products daily care as preservative stabilizers that inhibit the growth of microorganisms. They are absorbed by the skin and have a weak estrogenic effect, which is dangerous for women for whom estrogen is contraindicated (for breast cancer), as well as during pregnancy (causes pathologies in the reproductive function of the fetus).

2. DIETHANOLAMINE (DEA), TRIETHANOLAMINE (TEA, TEA)- foaming agents are classified as amines (containing ammonia). They have a toxic effect with prolonged use. May call allergic reactions, eye irritation, dry skin and hair.

3. PROPYLENE GLYCOL (PPG), POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL (PEG)- a mixture of petrochemical products used as a hygroscopic ingredient. May cause hives and eczema.

4. SODIUM LAURUULAURETH SULFATE- a cheap and harmful detergent used in shampoos due to its cleansing and foaming properties. A petroleum product often disguised as "derived from coconuts." Causes eye irritation, flaking of the scalp similar to dandruff, skin rashes and other allergic reactions.

5. VASELINE (PETROLATUM)- a derivative of mineral oil, used as an emollient, widely used due to its incredible low cost. It disrupts natural hydration processes and causes exactly the condition that it is intended to eliminate: dry skin, cracking.

6. STEARALKONIUM CHLORIDE originally developed for fabric softeners, it later found use in hair conditioners and creams due to its low cost compared to plant extracts. Toxic, causes allergic reactions.

7. IAZOLIDINYL-UREA, IMIDAZO-LIDINYL-UREA (DIAZOLIDINYL UREA, IMIDAZOLIDINYL UREA) used as preservatives, they release formaldehyde, which has a toxic effect. May cause contact dermatitis. Also known under the trade names: Germol II and Germol 115 (Germall II, Germall 115).

8. COPOLYMERS OF VINYL PYRROLIDONE AND VINY LACETATE (PVP/VA COPOLYMER)- derivatives of petroleum products, often used in hair styling products. They have a toxic effect on the lungs when particles are inhaled.

9. SYNTHETIC DYES- increase the attractiveness of cosmetics. Marked as FD&C or D&C followed by color and number. For example, FD&C Red No. 6 (red). Many synthetic dyes are carcinogenic. It is better to exclude it from use, regardless of cost.

10. SYNTHETIC FLAVORS labeled simply as “flavor,” but contain up to 200 chemical ingredients that can cause: headache, dizziness, rash, hyperpigmentation, cough, vomiting, skin irritation.

Signs of organic cosmetics

PACKAGE discreet and recyclable, usually free of glass and metal. Hence the principle: the more modest the packaging, the better its contents.

COLOR cosmetics are white (or colorless), because no dyes. Don't be tempted by bright, alluring colors.

SMELL rarely pleasant, usually "pharmacy" or medicinal herbal aroma. The exception is fruity and floral scents if the composition contains essential oils.

DUE TO LACK chemical thickeners and solvents, the liquid emulsion can separate into layers. Therefore, the bottle should be shaken vigorously before use.

LOW FOAM, because there are no foaming chemicals. This may be puzzling at first, but the lack of foam does not in any way detract from the cleaning and caring properties.

IF HIT Natural extracts in the eyes cause an acute burning sensation, which goes away immediately after rinsing with water.

ON THE LABEL given full list components and the certificate is indicated. Organic companies are required to provide complete information when translating text. Peel off the Russian label and check the list on the tube.

Nastya Kostyuchenkova

In fact, the fashion for natural cosmetics began 40 years ago, its founders were hippies. They were the first to reconsider their attitude towards the creams and shampoos they used, and it was they who introduced the term “organic cosmetics” - that is, cosmetics consisting entirely (or mostly) of plant ingredients. The actress’s favorite brands are Aveda and Dr. Hauschka (by the way, I completely agree with her choice).

Greetings, visitors and guests of my blog! This time I decided to talk to you about my favorite body care products that do not contain dangerous ingredients. Therefore, the main topic of this post is the best organic cosmetics.

Everyone knows that cosmetics have firmly entered the life of every person from his very first days: cream, soap, shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste. But ordinary cosmetics, unfortunately, often turn out to be harmful to health, and due to the unsafe elements they contain, they can harm the body and contribute to rapid aging of the skin. Often, when we purchase cosmetics, we do not think about what this or that product consists of. I recently read disappointing statistics on the Internet that young ladies use, on average, 12 types of cosmetics every day, and because of them, 175 harmful chemicals enter their bodies!

Those women for whom health is important return to old grandmother’s recipes: herbs, fermented milk products, oils, etc. And among busy ladies, cosmetics that bear the marks “Eco”, “Bio”, “Natural” and “Organic” have become popular " In most cases, luxury cosmetics have begun to be replaced by organic cosmetics. Including on my bathroom shelf.

Organic products in most cases have positive reviews, thanks to beneficial properties natural ingredients.

Today, I will share with you the secrets of how to choose the right organic cosmetics and show you the products that I often use. You will also learn what it is - organic cosmetics.

Hope you like the fashion on healthy image life and this post will be useful to you.

Basic principles of international eco-certification of organic cosmetics

So, what is the difference between organic cosmetics and conventional ones? Organic cosmetics are created from 95% natural ingredients that grew on environmentally friendly lands without the use of various chemicals. Such cosmetics do not contain GMOs, fragrances, preservatives and artificial colors.

Cosmetics made from natural products undergo rigorous clinical research, with special attention paid to how cosmetics act on the human body, and what I like is that they are not tested on animals. Also, its production causes minimal damage to the environment, which means that the ingredients are purchased legally.

A company receives a certificate to produce organic cosmetics only if it meets international standards!

Organic cosmetics are manufactured under the constant strict control of international certification systems, and have the appropriate certification marks:

  • BDIH (Germany),
  • EcoCert (France),
  • ICEA (Italy ) ,
  • NaTrue (Belgium),
  • The Vegan Society (UK).
  • NPA (USA),
  • Soil Association (UK),
  • Cosmebio (France),
  • USDA (USA),
  • EcoControle (Germany),
  • ECOGARANTIE (Belgium),
  • OASIS (USA).

In addition to the listed certification systems, there are others, but the most stringent requirements for organic cosmetics are those of the USDA, NaTrue and BDIH.

The BDIH quality mark can be seen on products from environmental brands such as Weleda, Lavera, Dr.Hauschka, Ecoworld, etc. Popular American eco-company Avalon Organics has a USDA quality seal.

Certificates from NaTrue are issued according to a three-star system: one star - natural cosmetics, two stars - natural cosmetics that have biologically pure ingredients, and three stars - 100% environmentally friendly cosmetics. Unfortunately, at present, you cannot find on the product how many stars the product received, but this information can be obtained on the official NaTrue website.

It can be concluded that organic cosmetics contain only natural products, and companies do not risk using harmful substances, since their products are under constant control of international certification systems.

Also, every year the largest international events take place - exhibitions of organic products; people come here from every corner of the world to present their products, as well as find suppliers, listen to reports at conferences, and attend organic tours.

Pros of organic cosmetics

I will list the advantages of organic cosmetics so that you can appreciate the positive aspects of using these products.

  1. It can be purchased in specialized stores or boutiques. For example, I most often order from iherb.com And evitamins.com
  2. The product has an unobtrusive, light, floral or pharmaceutical smell. If the smell is not very good, check the expiration date.
  3. The composition should not contain mineral oils, parabens, SLS (sulfates), phthalates, artificial colors, silicone.
  4. Usually the shelf life is short - a maximum of a year and a half.
  5. Some products have a heterogeneous structure due to the manufacturer’s refusal to use emulsifiers, so the bottle or jar should be shaken vigorously before use.
  6. Manufacturers indicate a complete list of ingredients on the jar, since they have nothing to hide from the consumer.
  7. This cosmetics does not belong to the category of inexpensive products. It costs more than conventional products due to the use of natural and high-quality ingredients.
  8. If the packaging contains organic cosmetics certificates.

Thus, we can conclude that this cosmetics is quite “alive” and, if desired, you can even prepare it yourself, having proven recipes at hand.

And now, to make it easier for you to navigate among organic products, I’ll tell you about the favorites of my cosmetics bag. I have been using these products for a long time, and I can only note that my skin and hair have become much better. I did not notice such an effect from conventional products, for this reason I like to use natural and organic products.

I present to your attention a list of my favorite cosmetics.

Giovanni, Hot chocolate, sugar scrub

This product has an amazing chocolate chip cookie scent. Sometimes I need to remind myself that this scrub should not be eaten! Large particles, as it seemed to me, are natural brown sugar, carefully remove particles of dead skin. I liked that this product does not dry out or scratch its surface. This scrub is great for getting rid of ingrown hairs. The product consists of natural products: sugar, cocoa butter, shea butter, aloe, vitamin E. I can only highlight one drawback! And this is a small volume of scrub - 260 g. This jar lasts me for one month. Considering the expense and price, this is quite an expensive cosmetic, but I am delighted with it, because it makes me feel magical after using it!

I ordered this magic scrub here, he came to me in Moscow in 8 working days.

Giovanni, Nutrafix Hair Reconstructor Hair Mask.

This mask is aimed at restoring damaged structure hair. It has a white and dense consistency that smells pleasant. I use it once a week, it smoothes and detangles my hair well, the feeling after it is pleasant. The volume of the tube is 200 ml, the mask is used sparingly, the price is justified, and it does its job well. True, I expected a greater effect from it, but I liked it. Its main composition is not tested on animals: purified water, vitamin E, citric acid, herbal extracts.

By the way, it’s very cool to enrich this mask with vitamins, which I wrote about in the article “”

I ordered this one mask in the iherb.com store

Desert Essence, Coconut Shampoo and Coconut Conditioner.

This pair immediately after the first use caused me indescribable delight! As you know, I treat my hair with care and often pamper it with various masks and products. The smell that you have shampoo what do you have air conditioner simply amazing, not cloying. It's a pity that it fades quickly. The funds are spent very sparingly, and they last me a long time. And How natural remedies Made from coconut, they perfectly moisturize, nourish and care for hair. Unlike many organic hair shampoos, this one lathers well. My hair is oily at the roots and dry at the ends, and in order for my hair to look beautiful, I had to wash my hair every day. And with these products, I now wash my hair every two to three days! After the coconut “duet” my hair looks well-groomed and fresh. If you dye your hair, then these products are suitable for you, as they do not wash out the pigment. The composition of these products is natural.

By the way, when using any conditioner, do not apply it to the roots of your hair. Otherwise, your hair will become dirty faster. It is better to apply the conditioner starting from the roots and smoothly moving upward along the entire length of the hair, excluding the roots.
